Unique robot masters are a stable in Mega Man games. There are several element robot masters and unique designed robot masters. Search Man falls into the later as he has two heads instead of one. He made his debut in Mega Man 8.


Background- Search Man was created by Dr. Wily to be a camouflaged solider who would use gorilla type tactics. Wily got the idea that if he had two minds he would be smarter and more effective as a robot master compared to his other creations. He also thought a two headed sniper gorilla type robot would be very effective in his latest scheme. However, Wily forgot to install two personalities in the heads. What happened was the heads have the same personality and switch back and forth. This causes Search Man to even get confused himself.

Still, he proved to be effective at hiding and ambushing things. He used gorilla type war tactics effectively. Even though Wily had unintentionally designed a flaw in Search Man. He still proved to be an excellent ambush combat robot master due to his tactics and his fire power.

Search was used in Wily's latest scheme. Search Man took over a base in the Congo Jungle region of Africa. Search Man rigged his base with booby traps, spikes, obstacles, and hidden areas hidden by the jungle leaves. He awaited Mega Man as he thought his tactics would be effective against Mega Man.

Mega Man made his way through the jungle base and confronted Search Man. Search Man put up a decent fight but was defeated by Mega Man. His CD shows he is still alive but it is not known if he still works for Wily or not.

Appearance- Search Man has two heads with a soldier helmet on top of them. He has a camouflage color to him. Basically, he has armor like that of a military soldier. He has a torso that has lens on it, and that can open up and fire missiles. On his other arm is a bazooka or rocket launcher type cannon that shoots his homing sniper weapon. He has green, red, and tan armor along with his camouflage coloring.

Personality- Search Man loves to hide behind decoys as he loves gorilla military tactics. He loves booby traps. He loves to ambush his opponents. He is great at firing weapons. Despite his profession he tries to be optimistic but not very sociable. He gets nervous when his traps are exposed or destroyed. This is because he is a sniper robot and does not like to be exposed in the open. Also, as stated he can get confused easy due to his heads switching back and forth and having the same personality.

Attack- Search Man has a lot of fire power. He can fire homing missiles from his cannon on his arm. The Missiles can be guided to hit his target. He can also open his torso to fire several missiles at once. Another attack is he will throw a projectile that bounces off of walls that can strike the player. His main attack is to hide behind decoys of bushes. If the player guesses the wrong one he will jump out of the one he was hiding behind and shoot the player several times with bullets and missiles. Therefore, his fight can be really frantic.

Weakness- Search Man is weak to the Flame Sword Weapon. The Flame Sword weapon can be used to burn his decoys and reveal him behind the bushes. When hit with the Flame Sword he will burn and say ouch oh no. The Flame Sword exposes him and keeps him from using some of his attacks. In fact, the flame sword can lock him into a pattern. It should be noted some of his bullets can be dodge by sliding under them.

If the player defeats him they will get his homing sniper weapon. The Homing Sniper can be used to hit targets as it can home in on them. This weapon is effective for enemies that are flying or hiding behind bushes.

Search Man as stated is not social this is likely due to the reason why he was created in the first place. He does not like it when he is exposed in the open as he is a sniper robot.

Him being weak to fire is likely a reference to how fire weapons are used to expose snipers in jungles and gorilla like war fire. Since World War Two fire weapons including fire bombs are not only destructive but they can expose enemy soldiers, snipers, and expose/destroy traps. This is likely why he is weak to fire based weapons.

In addition, him going to the Jungle could be that is where Wily put him. Another theory is because the jungle gives him several chances to hide in and to use the jungle to his advantage with his tactics and booby traps.

So far he is the only two headed robot master in the classic Mega Man series. It is also hinted when he is not used for combat by Wily Wily uses him to spy or for security reasons. It is not know if he still works for Wily after the events of Mega Man 8. However, it is likely that he still works for Wily considering his background. This concludes the Search Man Biography.
