Mega Man 7 introduced us to some unique robot masters which is a staple in Mega Man games. In Mega Man 7 we got a robot master built out of a race car, a floating robot, and a vampire robot. Shade Man is the later as he is based off of a vampire. He made his debut in Mega Man 7 and has appeared in other games since then.

Background- It is unknown who originally built Shade Man. What is known is that he used to a fun attraction at a haunted house since he was based off of a vampire. Not only was he an attraction but he was the curator/manager of the haunted house. However, he was stolen by Wily during the events of Mega Man 6 and modified for combat for the events of Mega Man 7. Originally, Wily modified Shade Man for not just combat but for the ability to control others. Instead due to a wiring defect his weapon is the sound wave called Noise Crush and cannot control others like Wily had originally planned.

During the events of Mega Man 7 he is in the later group of 4 robot masters. Wily releases him to attack the city after the robot museum incident. After launching an attack. He goes to one of Wily's abandoned houses near Wily's robot grave yard. He has turned the grave yard and Wily's old house into traps. His stage is dark themed with several paths, and several traps after all Shade Man is a vampire like robot.

He awaited the arrival of Mega Man in Wily's old house that he turned into a base. He was confident that he could defeat Mega Man. Mega Man though defeated him. After the events of Mega Man 7 he appears in the Mega Man fighting games once again working for Wily.

Appearance- Shade Man is a tall thin robot master. He is based off of a vampire. He has wings on his back that he can transform into a bat like creature. He has sharp fangs for teeth. His feet have talons on them that allow him to grab objects when flying. He mostly has purple, gold, and blue armor. He has a buster cannon on his arm that he fires his weapon out of.

Personality- Shade Man before being stolen by Wily had a no nonsense attitude. Being curator/manager of the haunted house he cannot stand those that are lazy. He is said to be dandy. He also likes to hang upside down in his spare time like a vampire bat. At night he likes to drink oil out of robots and he is shown to like tomato juice because it resembles blood. He also likes to sing but according to his peers its bad and he is tone deaf.

Attack- Shade Man can be very tricky as he has several attacks. His most famous attack is to fly around his room, swoop down, grab, the player/opponent, and then suck their oil/blood. If he sucks the oil/blood this will heal any damage he had received. He also likes to fire his noise crush weapon a lot. The noise crush can bounce off of walls and either hit the player or return back to Shade Man. If the noise crush comes back to Shade Man it will charge him and allow him to fire bigger projectiles. He can also breath out a mist that can either slow the player down or stun them.

In the Mega Man fighting games he pretty much has the same attacks as he did in Mega Man 7.

Weakness- In Mega Man 7 his weakness is wild coil. Wild Coil can knock him down if he is flying. It can also keep him from biting the player. When he is flying the player can dash when he swoops to avoid getting caught. In the Mega Man fighting games his weakness is the slash claw as that cuts his wings and stops him from using his attacks.

If the player defeats him they will get his Noise Crush weapon. The Noise Crush fires powerful sound waves that can bounce off walls to do extra hits. If the waves return to Mega Man, Mega Man can then fire a charged Noise Crush for extra damage.

Him liking tomato juice is a reference to him being a vampire as tomato juice looks like blood. His dislike for garlic is a reference to how vampires cannot stand garlic as it makes them sick.

Shade Man is similar to Dark Dizzy from Mega Man 5. Both are based off of vampires and both can have bat forms. Dizzy is a vampire bat while Shade Man can use his wings like a bat can. Both can also catch their opponents and heal themselves by drinking oil/blood.

Shade Man is a dark themed robot master. His stage takes place in the dark and he himself likes the dark. Once again this is reference to vampires as in the vampire movies vampires like dark. It appears Wily seems to have high value in him most likely due to his ability to heal himself and his powerful noise crush weapon. He has appeared in other games besides Mega Man 7. Given how he originally was going to be able to use his sound waves not just for combat but for the ability to mind control other robots. It is also likely that Wily may have considered him one of his top weapons to use. This completes the Shade Man Biography.
