Mega Man has gave us some very strange robot masters. Mega Man 7 introduced us to a strange robot master in terms of design named Spring Man. Spring Man made his debut in Mega Man 7. He has also appeared in another Mega Man game, more on that in just a bit.

Background- Dr. Wily wanted to create a lightweight and very agile robot master during the events of Mega Man 6. Like other Mega Man 7 robot masters Wily figured his schemes would get him arrested so he had planned for that possibility.

After the first 4 robot masters break Wily out of Jail during the start of the Mega Man 7 events. He activates another 4 Spring Man is in the later and activated midway through the game.

Wily constructed Spring Man with over 2,000 springs. Wily hoped Spring Man could help him take over the city and later the world by jumping high and being very agile. Spring Man took over a toy factory as his base. His toy factory is rigged with spring and spike traps. He awaited Mega Man's arrival. He challenged Mega Man and was defeated.

His next appearance was in the Mega Man racing game. In this game he drives a toy themed car that can shoot springs or sucker punch other racers.

Appearance- Spring Man is a human like robot made up of a lot of springs. He has a large spring on his helmet. His arms and legs are big spring coils. He has a buster on one of his arms. He is mostly seen being pink in color.

Personality- Spring Man is very optimistic but can also be a good off. He loves to play with things and that is mostly likely why he took over a toy factory. He seems to like toys since his race car is based off of a toy car. He loves living life to the fullest. He also likes to jump around since he is made up of springs.

Attack- Spring Man loves to jump around. One of his main attacks is to jump in the center of the room and use his long arms to try to hit the player/opponent. His most dangerous attack is his wild coil attack. Spring Man will fire two spiked coil spring like projectiles. These projectiles can bounce around for a while before they disappear. The coils can be a little tricky to dodge as they can bounce at random.

Weakness- Spring Man is very weak to the slash claw. The Slash claw weapon cuts his springs. In fact, after being hit with the slash claw weapon he looses springs. The Slash Claw will also keep him from using his coil weapon. It should be noted that Spring Man's pattern can be simple. He jumps in the center before he throws a long punch. The player can avoid the corners and then dash away when he tries to do it close up.

If the player defeats Spring Man they will get his wild coil weapon. The wild coil weapon can shoot two spring projectiles that bounce around to do extra hits. The player can also charge the coils to make them bounce higher to hit hard to reach enemies.

Spring Man does not like low ceilings because he cannot bounce that high. Also when he tries to bounce he will hit his head. As stated he seems to like to play with toys as his base is an old toy factory. His race car is based off of a toy race car. He is carefree this causes him to be relaxed, but also causes him to be a goof off. Thus, it is hinted he does not take things seriously.

Spring Man is also a strange robot master in the way he is designed. It is speculated he may have been made for comic relief by Capcom. When I first played Mega Man 7 I thought his design was strange and comical. Other players on Mega Man forums have stated similar things. He also will split in two before dying. Spring Man is therefore similar to Wire Sponge in Mega Man X2. Both are weak to slicer weapons. Wire Sponge is weak to the Sonic Slicer weapon, and Spring Man to the slash claw.
