A lot of robot masters are based off of several things in the Mega Man franchise. Mega Man 6 was no exception as Knight Man was based off of a knight, Tomahawk Man is based off of a Native American Chief, and Yamato Man is based off of a Japanese Samurai. Interestingly these 3 were originally built for combat unlike the other Mega Man 6 robot masters. Today we are going to learn about Yamato Man.

Background- Before the events of Mega Man 6 Yamato Man was built by a Japanese company. He was designed off of a Japanese Samurai warrior. Like his fellow robot masters Knight Man and Tomahawk Man he was originally designed for combat.

He was designed to put on and participate in Samurai duels in his native Japan. He was also designed to participate in Japanese martial arts. Japan entered him into the robot world tournament hosted and sponsored by Mister X. He was also eager to enter to bring glory to Japan and to glorify Japanese culture.

However, Mister X was none other than Dr. Wily. Dr. Wily was impressed with Yamato Man's offense capabilities. Since he was already designed for combat he did not need to be modified much. Wily did program him to work for him though. He took over a Japanese fort near Mount Fuji and decorated it with a samurai theme. He waited for Mega Man and challenged him to a duel. Despite challenging Mega Man he did not act hostile toward him. He actually put up a good fight but was defeated by Mega Man.

After the events of Mega Man 6 he was rebuilt but not by Wily. Thus, it is speculated that his original creators rebuilt him. Therefore, it is likely he went back to participating in martial arts and samurai battles.

Appearance- As stated he is built and designed after a Japanese Samurai. He even has a samurai helmet. He has a buster cannon on one hand, and his traditional spear on the other. He is mostly seen wearing purple armor with some gold mixed in.

Personality- Yamato Man is described as being shy and it is revealed he can be a big spender of money. However, he has a high sense of honor and as such is good friends with Knight Man. Both have a sense of honor. He likes to win battles fair and dislikes dirty tricks. He is bit of a Japanese Nationalist he loves to collect swords from Japan, practice Japanese arts, and believes Japan is the best. He speaks English but does not like it as he thinks Japanese is number one in everything.

Attack- Yamato Man is known for his offense instead of his defense. He will spin his spear in place and launch several spear projectiles at the player/opponent. The spears can cut through just about anything. He can also throw up to 3 spears from his spear. However, after the 3rd spear he has to go retrieve it. He is also fast and also likes to jump around. It should be noted he can fire spear projectiles in multi directions and in mid air. In some remakes of Mega Man 6 if the player/opponent gets close to him he will use martial arts with his spear and hit the player/opponent.

Weakness- After he throws three spears he has to go retrieve it while he is quick about this there is a slight delay. This is when he can be attacked. However, his main weakness is the Silver Tomahawk. The Tomahawk weapon can lock him into a pattern and it can cut through his spear even when he is spinning it. It can also hit him even when he is in mid air. It should be noted it is best to fight Yamato Man from a distance.

If the player defeats him they will get his Yamato Spear. The Spear can be used against shielded enemies as it can cut through them.

Here is his Mega Man 6 data

Height 161 cm or about 5'3

Weight 149 kg or 328 pounds

He is solar powered

Here is his CD Data

Designed after a Japanese warrior he has a high sense of honor.

Good Point- Pride for his country

Bad Point- Extremely shy

Likes- Swords

Dislikes- Dirty Tricks and English

As stated he does not like English because he is a Japanese nationalist and believes that Japanese is the best at everything. He loves Japanese swords and martial arts.

Ironically, he is friends with Tomahawk Man, and Knight Man, yet all 3 are week to each others weapons. Though Tomahawk Man's main weakness is the Plant Barrier. All 3 are designed after warriors and all 3 have a high sense of honor. That is why Yamato Man respects Knight Man and Tomahawk Man. Also all three do not like dirty tricks in battle as this goes against their honor. Yamato Man does not even show aggressiveness toward Mega Man as he thinks it is just another battle. He does not attack unless the battle starts.

He is very skilled at martial arts as stated several times. Despite being impressed with him he is not seen working for Wily in future games. It could be that Wily just moved on, but then he uses Plant and Centaur Man. More likely he was rebuilt by his original creators and went back to performing martial arts and samurai battles in his native Japan. Another theory is that after Mega Man defeated him he was free of Wily's control then went back to doing what he did before. This concludes the Yamato Man biography.
