Mega Man games are known for their unique robot masters. Mega Man 5 gave us some new robot masters. Gyro Man is one of those robot masters. He is technically an air themed robot master. He made his debut in Mega Man 5, but also also appeared in other games.

Background- Gryo Man was created before the events of Mega Man 5. Originally he had a jet on his back. However, Dr. Wily changed it to a helicopter propeller. There are two theories on why his jet was replaced. One theory is that the jet device was to costly to keep up, so Wily replaced it with the propeller to lower the cost. Another theory is that his jet device failed and Wily went with the propeller and had success creating Gyro Man. Regardless, he is an air theme robot master and one who is capable of flight.

During the events of Mega Man 5 Wily ordered him to attack and take over a hanging garden. Wily was hoping he would charge for others to see the hanging garden. However, when he took over people stopped coming. He turned the hanging garden into an air fortress and rigged it with spike traps and other robots.

He loves to use his Gyro attack which is firing propeller like projectiles at his opponents. He anticipated Mega Man's arrival in his hanging garden. Mega Man made his way through his hanging garden base. He was defeated by Mega Man. However, it is revealed that Dr. Wily rebuilt him. After the events of Mega Man 5 he has appeared in other games as a boss mainly the Mega Man fighting games.

Appearance- Gryo Man has green, white, and yellow armor. He has a large propeller on his back that allows him to fly. He has a small helicopter symbol on his forehead/helmet. Instead of having shoes he has skids on his feet that help him land when coming down. He is a human like robot and is average height as he is about the same height as Mega Man.

Personality- He is proud of his flying abilities and being an air themed robot master. He has embraced the propeller on his back instead of his original jet device. However, he is known to have a very bad attitude that even his colleagues do not like him. He tends to look down on others. He does enjoy eating sandwiches.

Attack- Gryo Man likes to hide in the clouds and throw his Gryo attack which is propeller projectiles that can cut armor. He also likes to come down behind his opponents and ambush them. When he is on the ground he likes to spam his Gryo Attack.

Weakness- His main weakness is gravity. Changes in gravity mess with his flight systems. Due to messing with his censors the Gravity weapon will do damage even when he hides in the clouds. When he is coming down he leaves himself open for attacks. In future games it is shown he is also weak to plant barrier. This is likely because the leaves clog up his propeller temporarily.

If the player defeats him they will get his Gryo Attack. Gryo Attack can be fired and can be moved up or down. It is useful for taking out enemies in the air or in the ground. It can be used to clear out enemies.

AS stated his dislike for Jet Engine is due to that he originally had one but it was replaced. Due to being proud he has embraced the propeller and believes it is superior to the jet engine as he can fly high or low.

It is hinted in the games that Jupiter from Mega Man V could be based off of Gryo Man. Except Jupiter has jets that allow him to fly. It is also hinted that Jupiter and Gryo Man do not get along. Gryo Man resents Jupiter because Jupiter is an improved design over Gryo Man. Likewise Jupiter does not like Gryo Man because Gryo has a propeller and Jupiter has jets. Both think they are superior over the other one.

Gryo Man is an air themed robot master along with Air Man, Wind Man, and Tengu Man. He loves to use the air for his advantage. However, unlike the others he likes to ambush his opponents by hiding in the clouds. The other air themed robot masters try to fight head on.

His name is also a reference to the Greek Sandwich which it is revealed he enjoys eating. Despite having a very bad attitude he is loyal to Wily. He is seen working and fighting for Wily in future games. Given how he has appeared in other games it could be that Wily values him. Wily likely values him for his combat purpose and his ability to ambush others. Also, as stated even though he resents it Wily often used Gyro Man when he created Jupiter.
