Mega Man 4 was a huge hit for the Mega Man franchise and like most Mega Man games it gave us 8 new robot masters. Drill Man was one of the Robot masters that made his debut in Mega Man 4. He has gone on to appear in other games. Anyway, lets learn about Drill Man.

Background- Drill Man was created by Russian Scientists Dr. Cossack. He was created to work in mines as he could drill several feet deep. He also could break hard stone with his drill bomb weapons.

However, Dr. Willy took Cossack's daughter hostage and forced the scientists to work for him. Wily also modified Cossack's robots including Drill Man. Drill Man was now reprogrammed by Dr. Wily. Instead of working in the mine to mine minerals. He took over the mine he used to work. He started to mine minerals for Wily and threatened anybody who entered the mine without Wily's permission.

He also became more violent using his drill bombs as weapons of destruction instead of good. Eventually, Mega Man made his way through his mine base and got through his traps. He confronted Mega Man despite putting up a good fight he was defeated.

After Cossack was pardoned and went to work for Dr. Light he did not rebuild his robots. However, Drill Man appeared in other games so it is likely Wily rebuilt him. He usually is seen working for Wily in future games.

Appearance- Drill Man is a human like robot with a drill on top of his head. The drill allows him to bore into the ground. He does not have hands as his hands are drills. He can fire the drills as his weapon. He is mostly seen wearing dark red armor with some silver to his armor as well. He has very bulky armor to withstand his explosions.

Personality- When he was with Cossack he was a very effective worker and could be counted on. After being reprogrammed by Wily he became more violent. He was still effective at managing the mine though. On the other hand, he did not like calculations and did not think things through this causes him to sometimes take dangerous risks. In terms he has damaged gas pipes even while working for Wily due to not taking time to learn the pipes locations.

Attacks- Drill Man can be a handful in battle. He can dig underground and come out anywhere. This allows him to ambush his opponents. He also can fire his drill bombs in rapid order. His bombs pack a punch. In addition, he loves to corner his opponents so he can fire his bombs at them. He has been known to try to collide into the opponent as well.

Weakness- He is week to the Dive Missile this is because sensors in his body attract the dive missile heat seeking ability. Dive Missile can disrupt his pattern. However, he cannot be hit when he is under ground. Also when he jumps he can be dashed under.

If the player defeats him they will get the drill bomb weapon. The drill bomb fires an explosive drill bomb that can be used on heavy armor enemies. The Drill Bomb can also be used to break certain walls and barriers.

Dislikes- calculations.

As stated he likes to work fast and does not think things through. He does not like to take the time to calculate things. This has gotten him in trouble even with working for Dr. Wily as he has hit power cables and gas pipes. This has caused disruptions even to Wily.

Despite disrupting Wily's operations Wily trusts him to get the job done. This is probably why Dr. Wily has rebuilt him several times and continues to employee him. It could also be because of his powerful attacks. Moreover, Wily also needs him to do his mining for him.

Drill Man first appeared in Mega Man 4 and has appeared in future games. Like Most Mega Man 4 robot masters he actually had a job before being taken over by Wily. Therefore, he was good before being turned evil. He is also one of the few robot masters that puts up a good fight with Mega Man or even Proto Man in some games.
