Mega Man 3 is known for being a huge hit and for its unique robot masters a trend that will continue in the Mega Man series. Top Man is one of the robot masters who made his debut in Mega Man 3. He has since appeared in other games.


Background- Top Man was created by Dr. Light and Dr. Wily when it seemed Dr. Wily had turned from his evil ways. He was one of 8 robot masters created by the two. However, unknown to Dr Light Wily turning good was a ruse. In fact, he had reprogrammed the 8 new robot masters to add him in his latest scheme.

Before being reprogrammed by Dr. Wily Top Man was created to work in the mines by using his top speed to drill in craters. His Top Spin allows him to spin at very high rates. However, even he will get dizzy if he spins for several hours. After being reprogrammed by Dr. Wily he was turned into a combat robot to help in his latest scheme.

After being turned into a combat robot by Wily he went haywire. He begin to take over a base that had plants in it implying he may have a thing for nature. He also made his base full of top like traps. Mega Man eventually confronted him and he was defeated by Mega Man.

Appearance- Top Man is a human like robot that is taller than Mega Man. He has coral color armor though in some games it looks like it is orange. He has a top on top of his head, and cannons on the side of his arms/hands.

Personality- Top Man is said to be a talker which can get on his peers nerves. On the other hand, he can be a smooth talker and can work out deals. Thus, it is hinted he might be good at business. He loves roller skating and playing with top like toys. He is bad at story telling although he loves to tell stories. He can sometimes push his luck to far such as trying to see how fast he can spin only to get dizzy and have to sleep it off for several hours. He actually thought he could defeat Mega Man.

Attacks- Top Man can spin rapidly allowing for defense and offense. While he is spinning he can deflect some shots off of his body. He can also throw spinning tops at his opponents that will eventually explode. He also loves to move across the room and throw top bombs at his opponents.

Weakness- His armor is not that durable compared to his peers. Hard Knuckle really knocks him out as it smashes his armor. Needle Cannon is also a a weakness as it can pierce his armor. Moreover, his other weakness is he really has no pattern to his attacks.

If the player defeats him they will gain his top spin weapon. The Top Spin is a difficult weapon to use because the player has to get close to an enemy to use it. While the player can do spin kicks at a high rate of speed they could also get hurt while using his weapon.

As stated Top Man is a smooth talker and he will use that to his advantage in getting deals for himself or even Dr. Wily. It is also implied that he likes dancing and could be why he dislikes bad dancers.

Top Man as it is obvious is based off of a toy top. He can spin at high rates of speed but even he has his limits. Although, he does not know his limits as he likes to push his luck which often gets him into trouble. Sometimes he can get on his peers nerves due to his talking too much and pushing his luck too far. He has appeared in other games mainly working for Dr. Wily. Therefore, it is likely that he is loyal to Wily. This could also be because Wily sees value in him when he needs a smooth talker. This concludes the Top Man Biography.
