As I stated in my review MLB 2002 is one of my favorite baseball games of all time. Therefore, I decided today I would do a walk through of MLB 2002. Before I get started I want to say this walk through will be different than other walk throughs, because this is a sports game. It is not like a Mega Man or Mario type game. Anyway, lets get started. First of all here are a few things If you want to trade players click on General Manager then trade players. You know can trade for your favorite players. It should be not player stats are based off of the 2000 MLB season. If you are like me and want to put a modern player on your team. You can go to create player and create the player you want too. You can create up to 24 players. After creating a player they go to the free agent. Click on free agents and assign your created players to their respective team. When creating a player you will get certain points to use to improve the player. For batters it will be speed, arm, fielding, clutch, power, and batting. Use your points wisely. For pitchers you will get the same. For Pitchers I like to use fielding, arm, and power to the max. Then you can click and set your pitches. You can use 4 pitches per one pitcher. When creating a pitcher this is what I usually use. Starters ERA you probably want the ERA to be 88-91 Stamina I usually go with 88-91 Relievers ERA I usually go 88-91 here Stamina I usually go 83-85 here Closers ERA I usually go over 95 here Stamina usually 80-82 works well. If you are ready to start the game then click start. You should see modes that pop up, season, spring training, and home run derby. Spring Training Mode- This is were you will create a player. You can only create one player You will be given a few points to boost your player. Here you want to do well in the spring training games. If you do well in the game you can add more points to your player. The goal is build your player up and make the team for the season. Home Run Derby- This one is easy just pick your favorite players. Again players stats will be on the 2000 season. I think you can pick up to 8 or 10 players. The goal here is as the name implies hit a lot of home runs to win the derby crown. Now if you want to play a regular season. Just click on season and select your team. After selecting your team. You can choose to re-align the teams in their division. For example, if your team is an NL team but you like the AL team then you can put your team into the AL. After that select start. During a regular season you can manage your roster such as bring people up from the farm system. You can see if any players have been released by other teams and sign them onto your team via free agent. Each regular season is just like a real MLB season. There is 162 games in each season. If you guide your team to the playoffs then you will get to play in the post season. As I mentioned the teams stats are based off of the 2000 season. So here is the teams stats from 2000 National League Central Division (Houston was part of the NL until after the 2012 season) 1. Cardinals 95-97 record, 235 home runs BA 270, ERA 4.38 2. Reds 85-77 record, 200 home runs, 274 BA, ERA 4.33 3. Brewers 73-89 record, 177 home runs, 246 BA, ERA 4.63 4. Astros 72-90 record, 249 home runs, 279 BA, ERA 5.42 ERA 5. Pirates 69-93 record, 168 home runs, 267 BA, ERA 5.48 ERA 6. Cubs 65-97 record, 183 home runs, 256 BA, ERA 5.25 ERA Western Division 1. Giants. 97-65 record 226 home runs BA 278 ERA 4.21 2. Dodgers 86-76 record 211 home runs BA 257 ERA 4.10 3. Diamondbacks 85-77 record 179 home runs BA 265 ERA 4.35 4. Rockies 82-80 record 161 home runs BA 94. ERA 5.26 5. Padres 76-86 record 157 home runs BA 254 ERA 4.52 Eastern Division 1. Braves 95-67 record 179 home runs BA 271 ERA 4.05 2. Mets 94-68 record ERA 4.16 3. Marlins 79-82 record 160 home runs BA 262 ERA 4.59 4. Expos 67-95 record ERA 178 home runs BA 266 5.13 5. Phillies 65-97 record 144 home runs BA 251 ERA 4.77 American League East Division 1. Indians/Guardians 90-72 record 221 Home runs BA 288 ERA 4.84 3. Tigers 79-83 record 177 home runs BA 275 ERA 4.71 4. Royals 77-85 record 150 home runs BA 288 ERA 5.48 5. Angels 82-80 record ERA 236 home runs BA 280 5.00 4. Rangers 71-91 record 173 home runs BA 283 ERA 5.52 Choose your favorite team or the team you want to play in. It should if your team gave up a lot of home runs that will be reflected, if your team was prone to errors that will also be reflected in this game. For the playoffs each league had 4 playoff teams not the 6 from each league we have now. You have 3 division champions and 1 wild card from each league as that is how was in 2000 Anyway, this completes my walkthrough of MLB 2002. If your having trouble with this game or don't really know how to play it. I hope this guide helps you.
