It's been a long while since I last checked in with Vizzed, but still alive and going on which coincidentally is my birthday today. (I'm an old man, enough said.) I do, however, regret not checking in as much as I would like to. It's certainly not intentional. As usually happens, life tends to get in the way. Recently, it's been dealing with and, thankfully, dodging two hurricanes in the span of three weeks.
Although it has taken a toll on me physically from having to spend time on the road, which isn't easy for me due to being disabled, (Hurricane Milton my family and I spent nine days on the road in three different hotels in three different cities before we were finally able to go home.) I am grateful that my house made it through and beyond being physically and mentally exhausted, my family and I are good. It could have been much different and a few of our neighbors had damage to their homes. Very grateful we were spared, but feel for my neighbors at the same time.
This year has not been easy as I lost one of my sisters and that has been hard to digest because it came suddenly, so I'm glad things weren't compounded by either Helene or Milton, the latter was really concerning because it literally shut the country where we live down and there was no power for days, hence why we were on the road for so long, some in other areas are still without power. I was convinced, especially with what I had heard from neighbors, that there was a good chance I'd lose my house, but so grateful that we didn't. Even if it did a number on me physically, it could have been much worse.
Beyond all that, I'm just trying to recoup before resuming my schedule covering Boxing in November. It will be the start of my thirtieth year writing about and covering combat sports when I resume so I have a lot to be grateful for.
How has everyone been? It's been s
o long.
