It's been a long while since I last checked in with Vizzed, but still alive and going on which coincidentally is my birthday today. (I'm an old man, enough said.) I do, however, regret not checking in as much as I would like to. It's certainly not intentional. As usually happens, life tends to get in the way. Recently, it's been dealing with and, thankfully, dodging two hurricanes in the span of three weeks.

Although it has taken a toll on me physically from having to spend time on the road, which isn't easy for me due to being disabled, (Hurricane Milton my family and I spent nine days on the road in three different hotels in three different cities before we were finally able to go home.) I am grateful that my house made it through and beyond being physically and mentally exhausted, my family and I are good. It could have been much different and a few of our neighbors had damage to their homes. Very grateful we were spared, but feel for my neighbors at the same time.

This year has not been easy as I lost one of my sisters and that has been hard to digest because it came suddenly, so I'm glad things weren't compounded by either Helene or Milton, the latter was really concerning because it literally shut the country where we live down and there was no power for days, hence why we were on the road for so long, some in other areas are still without power. I was convinced, especially with what I had heard from neighbors, that there was a good chance I'd lose my house, but so grateful that we didn't. Even if it did a number on me physically, it could have been much worse.

Beyond all that, I'm just trying to recoup before resuming my schedule covering Boxing in November. It will be the start of my thirtieth year writing about and covering combat sports when I resume so I have a lot to be grateful for.

How has everyone been? It's been s
o long.

Welcome back to another old man.

I don't frequent the site like I used to but the nostalgia of seeing some old names back here posting is kind of fun. Makes me feel slightly less old.

geeogree Eh, Don’t worry about feeling old… I just had a birthday two weeks ago, I’m old. In my defense though, I was feeling old when I was a teenager. I guess part of the reason for that was because I grew up before I was a teenager due to what was going on in my family at the time so I didn’t get to do a lot of the things teenagers do so that made me feel older than I actually was. Now, almost 30 years later, I’m catching up to where I can say I feel it and I am it as far as being old.

As for the site, I need to make more of an effort to pop in more and check in. I used to be on the site regularly throughout the week, but as tends to happen, life got in the way and things happened that changed what was routine for me. I hope I can get back to something similar to what I did before even if it takes a little time to get used to popping in and checking in similar to how I used to, though it probably won’t be like it used to be. Right now, I have been on hiatus as far as my schedule since getting back from hurricane Milton. I do not exaggerate when I say the evacuation and going to three different hotels in three different cities in nine days took a lot out of me physically and I’m still not fully back to where I was. Part of the problem was I was dealing with a relative who, though well-meaning, took a stressful situation and made it worse and I really wasn’t able to rest like I should have been able to. I am preparing to resume the schedule, but I am having to keep an eye on what could be another storm even though all the weather people are saying it’s not likely something to worry about, I still have to keep an eye on things. It’s frustrating because when things are normal, I am covering Boxing from usually either the first week of the year or second week right on through till the last two weeks of the year, with very little downtime in between.

As I said, this year has not been a good one for me, but what’s made it worse is the storms and having family that even though well-meaning like to push panic buttons and it just makes things more stressful than it should be. Hopefully, this thing they're keeping an eye on doesn’t turn into anything and I can focus on getting back to work at least for the next four or five weeks then take my usual holiday break. At least that’s my hope.

Hope all is well with you.
