Doki Doki Panic was a Japanese game released for Nintendo in Japan. The game was converted to Super Mario Bros 2 in countries outside of Japan. Super Mario Bros 2 introduced the Mario franchise to new enemies. Pidgit was one of those enemies.

Pidgits first appeared in Doki Doki Panic. Super Mario Lost Levels was supposed to be the sequel to the first Mario game. But that game was infamous for its difficulty. Nintendo decided to convert Doki Doki Panic into Super Mario Bros 2. The family characters where changed with Mario and his friends, and the plot was changed to fit Mario. Pidgit was one of the enemies converted into Super Mario Bros 2.

Pidgits are crow like enemies that patrol the skies in some levels of Subcon. The booklet stats that they where created by Wart. Other versions state that Pidgits could not fly well so Wart gave them a magic carpet to ride. Regardless, there main job is to patrol the eyes. They are often put together with Beezos. Therefore, they support aerial support to Wart's troops, and patrol the skies.

Pidgits have made cameo appearances in other games. They appeared in Warior Woods, but this Pidgit may have been Wario's pet. In other games a few appeared in pictures with Bowsers suggesting they may have become part of Bowser's Minions. In Japan they where seen in one game helping Bowser's troops. On the other hand, in other countries the pidgits where omitted and replaced with regular aerial enemies.

Appearance- When they first appeared they where black with the magic carpet being red. In the SNES remake they were dark blue with red/orange carpets. In the latest game they where purple with red/orange carpets. Nintendo states that Pidgits are purple colored crows. They heave a yellow or orange beak. Their talons appear to be golden color. The rest of their body is purple. It is revealed they have short purple wings. Their magic carpets have been confirmed to be red/orange.

Personality- Not much is known about their personality. They will try to dive at the player so they might be aggressive. However, it could also be they where just doing their job. When they appeared in future games even as a cameo they where shown to be having a good time. Therefore, it is likely they like to have fun. In Wario Woods if the player fails in some versions the Pidgit will laugh and taunt the player.

Abilities- When they first appeared it was believed they could not fly. The booklets even state they could not fly so Wart gave them a magic carpet so they can ride it to fly. On the other hand, in future games they where shown to be able to fly even with their short wings. It is believed they can fly, but they still like to ride their carpets.

Attacks- Pidgits have basic attack pattern that is simple. They will simply use their carpets and try to dive at the player. They will also try to flog the player by trying to swirl around their face/head. In the Japanese game when they appeared as Bowser's minions they flew directly at the player trying to dive at them.

Weaknesses- They are not fast like a Beezo or even a Paratroopa. They also have simple attack and dive patterns which makes their patterns easy to learn. In addition, they do not carry pitchforks or other weapons. Pidgits can be easily defeated by throwing objects at them. In their original appearance the player could throw them off their carpets, steal their carpets, and ride their carpets across wide gaps.

Relationships-Allies

Wart- They are thankful for Wart because he gave them carpets to use for flight. They also serve Wart and want to please him.

Bowser- It appears in artwork that they may have become minions of Bowser and serve him. It also looked like they w here having fun with some of the other troops.

Wario- One Pidgit appears in Wario Woods helping Wario in his puzzle game development. Given how Wario likes birds and has a lot of them as pets. It could be that this particular one is Wario's Pet. It is unclear if other Pidgits are his ally.

Enemies

Mario and Luigi- He is an enemy to the Mario Brothers. This is because they have stolen his carpets to ride on, defeated Wart, and if the Japanese game is correct defeated Bowser.

Peach- In Super Mario Bros 2 Peach can also throw them off their carpets to ride.

Overall, Pidgits are crows not pigeons. However, their name is based off the word pigeon. Their main appearance is in Super Mario Bros 2. Although they have made appearances in other games. In some countries (Japan) they help Bowser's troops. As I stated this strongly suggests they now work for Bowser. For whatever reason they where omitted from the game outside of Japan. Therefore, this kind of gives a little bit of mystery toward their character.

It should be noted that unlike Bomb-Ombs, Shy Guys, Beezos, Phantos, and Ninjas they have not become regular enemies. Bomb-Ombs, Ninjas, and Shy Guys have become staples in Mario Games appearing in most of them as enemies. Pidgit has only had a few appearances. It is not know why they have not appeared as regular enemies. This concludes their biography.
