Today (yesterday?) I finally started writing my light novel. Most people here know that I'm a big anime fan and more people than that know that I'm a writer (both for journalism and fiction)

Over the last 10 or so years I've come up with dozens of stories and after I got into anime I realized that many of them fit more into the anime/manga category than that of the average western book.

Since then, there were two stories that I formulated in my head that were first and foremost.with anime in mind but I didn't do anything with them. A few months ago I found out that there was an English light novel publisher that allows Americans to submit manga to them to see if they would publish them.

I was toying around with the idea of at least asking them if they would consider light novels since they're doing manga. But on Sunday night I found out that there's a competition for American light novel. I missed the deadline because that was in January but the winner was announced around a week ago and it was revealed that they will be doing the competition again at some point in the future.

That gave me motivation to actually write up one of the stories to see if I can submit it when they open things up again. I basically know what the entire story is, I just have to figure out how to write all of it out and quickly.

The one that I'm choosing to work on is thee most recent idea that I had from a little over a year ago and is an Isekai, Workplace Romance, Psychological Thriller. Hopefully if things go well I'll also be able to share that first part here once it's done.

That is awesome that you are writing a novel. I'm myself writing a book. My book is my memoir and biography. I hope to have it completed by next year. Good luck in your writing.

I made a lot of progress in the one month since the first update. The first part of the book is done and it's at around 80 pages so far, which covers around 10 chapters. Currently have the next four chapters planned out but I don't have any plans for the details of what comes next so next week I'll be brainstorming that while writing the chapters that I have planned.

There has been so much progress over the past seven days.

Originally the plan was for 50,000. Then after writing the first two chapters, I changed my goal to want between 50,000 and 70,000 only if I can get enough content but now it's going to look like I'll blow past that.

This week I wrote four chapters bringing the total word count to a little north of 30,000 and I still have five chapters planned out before I even reach the beginning of the first main conflict. I also have an idea of how long that conflict could be.

So once I finish the conflict, it's possible that the story reaches 50,000 words just at that point. From there I have to make a decision. I'm going to keep writing normally and I can go straight to the next big event and then the last in around 40,000 words and finish it. Or if I can write enough plot, I can do the first 50,000 words as one volume and everything after that would be the next one.

Halfway through October I was almost done with the first volume and only had two chapters left... and then I only did like 1,000 words because I can't figure out how to end it and the deadline is in two weeks.
