King Bob-Omb also known as King Bomb-Omb is a character that first introduced In Mario 64 for the Nintendo 64. Since then he has appeared in other games as well as the Mario Party games. So, lets learn about the king of all booms.


Not much is known about his past. He is considered king of the bomb-ombs. He serves as their king and general. He is also an ally to Bowser. Bowser usually gives him and his bomb-ombs task to delay Mario in reaching him. It is revealed in later games that he makes bomb-ombs in his factory. In one of the Mario Party games it shows when he is now doing jobs for Bowser he resides in his powder keg Mine. This is likely where he makes his minions. It should be noted though not all bomb-ombs follow him, but a majority of them do. Since he is an ally of Bowser he is often considered one of Bowser's minions or Lackeys.

He first appeared in Super Mario 64. He was put in charge by Bowser of guarding a mountain which contained a power star. He fights Mario. In some games he tells Mario its nothing personal against him but he is doing his job of guarding the power star. He is defeated by Mario. He next appears in one of the early Mario Party Games. In this game he resides over a city along with his minions. This time he does not fight the players instead he plays a dice game. Though if they loose he will explode and take half their coins only to reappear.

He is seen in Super Mario Party in his powder keg mine. He states that this is residency and dares the players to step on his blocks. Stepping on his blocks will cause his timer to tick downward. Once it reaches zero he will once again blow up taking half of the coins of nearby players. But he respawns to start the timer again. He also states how he loves his mind.

In addition, he appears in some Mario Kart games where he can throw bombs at the players. In other games he appears as boss similar to his first appearance and the player or players have to fight him to advance.


Appearance- He is a large black bomb-omb with white eyebrows. He wears a yellow crown with red jewels. His arms and feet are said to be white, although they look tanned or cream depending on the game. He is also tall. Given that his hair is white it could imply that he has been around for a while.

Personality- He takes pride that is of royalty and that he is the King and leader of the bomb-ombs. He really cares for his minions and it is shown he enjoys creating new ones. He also is loyal to Bowser and always does a job when Boswer needs him or asks him too. He considers Bowser and Bowser jr to be his close friends. Despite being a bomb he always speaks with a gentle voice. But his voice can quickly become angry. He also has a menacing laugh. He laughs when the player fails to defeat him. In Mario Party games he laughs as he is about to explode.

He is shown to have good sportsmanship though. After the player defeats him he will even give them compliments in beating him. Sometimes he will offer hints on how to advance as a show of respect for being defeated. In addition, it is implied he likes to have fun. He acts like he has fun in the Party games although this could be due to the fact he takes coins if the player does not pass his game. Furthermore, he could be a great strategist in the fact he sets games up in hopes the player will not pass his games.

Abilities- He has the power to create powerful stomps due to his large feet. He creates new minions. He is nearly invincible as that he can blow himself up and respawn. When he explodes his blast creates a huge radius damaging anyone nearby. In the party games he has the power to take coins if the players fail at playing his game.

Another ability he has is his creativity and strategy. As I stated he loves creating games that he thinks the players will fail at. He also created his own course in his very own mind.

Attacks-His main attack is exploding. When he explodes it creates huge blast damaging anything and anyone in his field of radius. He can also stomp creating sound waves that can stun his opponents. Furthermore, he can also do a powerful punch in some games. Another one of his attacks is starting his count down clock to cause his opponents to panic.

Weaknesses- He is prone to sneak attacks. Mario, Luigi, and Wario can grab him from behind and throw him around. Yoshii can use special eggs to defeat him. He is also weak to Yoshii's ground pound attacks. He can be ignited with fireballs or fire eggs. However, this is risky as this will cause him to explode doing serious damage to those close by.

Relationships- King Bomb-Omb is allies to the following

Bowser- Bowser respects King Bomb-Omb and in return the king looks up to him. Both respect each other because they are both kings. King Bomb-Omb serves Bowser and is always eager to do a job for Bowser. In fact, King Bomb-Omb states he is one of Bowser's trusted minions.

Bowser Jr- Just like Bowser King is a close ally to Bowser's son. He is always eager to help the young koopa and future King of the koopas.

Koopalings- Given how the Koopalings are Bowser's niece and nephews. He has a solid relationship with them and always assist them as well.

King Boo- He is also friends with King Boo. This is because they are both kings. Also they are both trusted allies of the Koopa Troop and both serve Bowser.

Bomb-Ombs- He creates them and considers them to be his friends. He really cares for his minions that serve under him.

Enemies-

Mario-He is only an enemy due to Mario being an enemy to Bowser. He states he harbors no hard feelings toward the hero. He is just doing his job. After Mario defeats him he compliments him.

Luigi- Like Mario he harbors no ill feelings. After Luigi defeats him. He gives him compliments.

Yoshii- Only an enemy because Yoshii is an enemy to Bowser.

Princes Peach and Princes Daisy- He is only an enemy to them due to Bowser. However, he helps Bowser kidnap Peach buy guarding stars or power ups. Daisy is Peach's best friend.

Wario- Him and Warior relationship is more comical than anything. He often taunts Wario about how his mustache is smaller than his. Wario in terms taunts him that he is more rounder than he is. They are kind of neutral toward each other. Given how in recent games Wario sometimes assists the good guys it is likely he is slightly an enemy.


Overall, King Bomb-Omb is a villain but he is a likable villain. I will be honest I kind of like him. I like his personality him showing class even when he is defeated. Plus, I have enjoyed playing his games when I used to play Mario party games with my friends. I think Nintendo did a good job in creating this character. He is one of those bag guys that you have to take seriously due to the power of his attacks. On the other hand, you kind of like him due to his games, personality, his levels, and his comical side.
