Gate was a reploid that appeared in Mega Man X6. However, it is clear early in the game that he has been around for a while. since the events of Mega Man X4. He is the mastermind behind the events of Mega Man X6. However, he was not always a maverick. At one time Gate was a respected scientists, so lets learn about him.


Gate has been around for a while. During the events of X4 or after the events of X4 Gate along with his friend Alia were colleagues. Alia worked under Gate as his communicator and researcher. The two at one time were close friends. Alia respected Gate and Gate saw Alia's potential. Gate wanted to create strong reploids to build the strongest army. He wanted his creations to be able to help the world. However, after the previous events several organizations deemed Gate's creations and work dangerous. The organizations where concerned what would happen if Gate's creations went maverick. In an attempt to win the favor of the world's organizations Gate weakened some of his creations although they were still powerful. On the other hand, some of his creations where sabotaged or destroyed. Meanwhile Alia was getting more recognized for her skills. Alia would go to work for the Maverick Hunters providing the hunters with missions, and analyze mavericks. Meanwhile Gate continued working on his own projects, but held a grudge for some of his creations being destroyed.

Then the events of Mega Man X5 happened. Sigma infected the space colony and sent it crashing to the Earth. Although the colon was destroyed. Sigma managed infect a lot of reploids and cause severe damage. Reploids are tasked by helping the humans clean up the damage.

Gate is seen looking at the damage. He is quoted as saying I thought they avoided a catastrophe. He picks up what he thinks was the remnants of Zero. Zero is later revealed to be alive and later rejoins the Hunters. Instead what he picked up was alive with the Sigma Virus. Gate becomes infected with the Sigma Virus and starts to go insane. This sets up the events for Mega Man X6.

Gate states how since he has become infected he is now mad and it is so liberating. He is later joined by Isoc, who is his spokeperson and right hand person. Gate creates the Nightmare pandemic. He also upgrades and rebuilds his creations to their original status. Except now he infects them with the Sigma Virus and wants to use them for revenge. He then decides to use his nightmare, and his new creations to rule the world. However, Sigma has also returned and while Gate tries to create Sigma a new battle Body. Sigma reveals that since his true form is a computer virus he would have come back anyway. Gate fails to see that Sigma was just using him to do his bidding.

He taunts Alia often contacting the hunters even after they destroy his creations. Eventually X and Zero defeate Gate. Sigma than appears and tells Gate that he has outlived his usefullness. Sigma then finishes off Gate for good and then tells X and Zero that this was his new scheme and for X and Zero to give him a good battle like they always do. X and Zero after defeating Sigma find Gate's body. They bring it to Alia in hopes she can try to repair him since they were friends before X6. In some games Alia states she wants to try to rebuild Gate. In other versions she gives him a burial. Considering how he has not appeared in future games it is likely Alia gave him a burial.


Appearance- Gate is a tall reploid that appears to be purple and gold in color. He also wears a lab coat that is white. Thus, it looks like he has white armor.

Personality- Before becoming a maverick. Gate seemed to be humbled and had good intentions. He wanted to create reploids that could help the world. After organizations deemed his work too risky. He tried to weaken some of his creations to wind favor. However, some of his creations were sabotaged or destroyed. He held a grudge against those believing they conspired against him. However, he decided to continue his work. He also seemed to see the potential in Alia. When Alia went to work for the Maverick Hunters Gate was supportive and encouraged her. Moreover, after the events of Mega Man X5 he seemed to be concerned with the world wanting to help clean up the damage.

After getting infected with the Sigma Virus hsi personality changed. He quickly went mad. He became full or rage and revenge. Wanting to get even with those who had put an end to his creations. He also became very evil. He created the Zero Nightmare, High Max and rebuilt his army to rule the world. His scheme also consisted of manipulating reploids into going to his nightmare zones. This was so they could become infected with the Sigma Virus. Gate now full of rage becomes a master manipulator and even taunts former friends. He often contacts the Hunters taunting his former colleague and later daring X and Zero to come to his lab to fight him. Even after his creations are destroyed he does not show frustration.


He was bent on spreading the Sigma Virus to rule the world. In this stage he is shown to be insane. He tries to create a new battle body for Sigma. Gate believed he could control Sigma and use him. Gate's downfall was that he failed to see that he was being used by Sigma. As Sigma stated due to being a computer virus he would have returned anyway. Sigma then finishes Gate off telling him he was now useless to him.

Abilities- Gate before becoming infected was a respected scientists. He could analyze anything. He also created powerful reploids in hopes they could do good. Basically, he has a brilliant mind. After getting infected, he has the ability to spread the Sigma Virus. He can also sway reploids to do his bidding.

Attacks- After getting infected Gate has powerful attacks. He fights with a shield and fires plasma. When he has his shield up he cannot be damaged. However, when he fires plasma his plasma shots can be sliced sending them back at him. This is how he can be defeated is using his own weapons against him. He can also teleport from side to side. He can also create nightmare black holes to attack. However, like his plasma shots these black holes can be cut to send them back at Gate.

Even though, Gate was a good guy before becoming infected. He is not considered a victim in the maverick wars. This is because although he was respected before his infection. Gate had already done some things that were questionable like continue to create powerful reploids. Also his entire scheme was just so evil and his actions lead to the deaths of thousands. Unlike other mavericks his own desire ans selfishness lead to his downfall. On the other hand, before his infection, he did seem to care about the world and tried to do good.

Gate story though can still be considered tragic. Once again, he went from a good person with good intentions to a complete evil madman. Maybe it was because he was mad due to being infected, but he could never see that Sigma was just using him.

Therefore, Gate went from a person with good intentions to a disgraced person.Considering he is not referenced in future games or his organization. It is hinted that the world and organizations just wanted to forget about him. This is totally different than Dr. Doppler from Mega Man X3. Doppler was a respected scientists before he went mad due to being infected. However, Doppler was seen as a tragic figure and his work was referenced in future games. Also unlike Gate, Doppler provided X and Zero with a vaccine to finish off Sigma. While Gate had no remorse for his actions. This concludes the Gate Biography.
