Double is a reploid, cyborgs with human traits, that first appeared in Mega Man X4. He seems to be a good guy at first, but is he what he seems? He is later to be revealed a maverick, reploids who pose a danger to the world. So lets learn about Double.


Who created Double is a mystery. In one of the X4 manuals it states Cain labs created him. In other manuals it states that Sigma created him. The later is most likely due to what he later reveals himself as. Double's name is a pun on the term double agent. Double is actually a double agent later to be revealed to be a maverick and working for Sigma, who as I stated most likely created him.

Double first appears as a maverick hunter just before the civil war between Repliforce and the Maverick Hunters. When mavericks ordered by Sigma attack the Sky Lagoon sending it crashing down. Repliforce is questioned by the Maverick Hunters as they were in the area. Repliforce refuses to surrender. The two organizations that were working well with each other start turning on each other. Repliforce decides they want their own nation for reploids and they start a coupe. They are labeled mavericks in the process. It was Sigma pulling the strings the entire time. By the time Sigma reveals to be the mastermind 90% of both armies have been destroyed.

Double shows potential as a Maverick Hunter due to his buster. However, he is shown to be clumsy. He first acts like he supports X telling him were Repliforce are located. He even advises X telling him that it might be a trap. X trusts double and even gives him responsibilities. Double is not what he seems though.

As X is defeating Repliforce forces double gets orders by Sigma to terminate the remaining hunters at Hunter Base. Double transforms into his true form. He destroys the remaining hunters. Then goes to meet X were he is supposed to be. X arrives and is shocked to find his former comrade. Double reveals that he was sent by Sigma and was a maverick the entire time. Despite being powerful he is no match for X and is destroyed.

Appearance- Double has two forms. His first form is he is a short chubby maverick hunter with a buster. He has golden armor and has a thick helmet. In his true form he has golden armor, but with pink and blue. He has a pink saber. In his true form he is very tall.

Personality- Double has two personalities. It is speculated he may have a split personality disorder. In his first form he shows concern for allies, and has potential on the battle field. But he is kind of a bumbler. In his true form he is very violent and arrogant. He slaughters his former comrades with no remorse once given the orders. He believes that X is not match for him and that he cannot be beat. In addition, he is shown to be manipulative as he manipulated X into thinking he was on the Hunters side. Even after he is destroyed he still shows rage, saying he hopes X dies.

Abilities- Double's main ability is the ability to transform into two forms. He can alter between his two forms at will. In his first form he can fire his buster with plasma shots. In his true form he not only can use a buster, but can use a saber in deadly fashion. He is powerful and fast in his true form.

Attacks- His first attack is his dash attack. He will dash into his opponents with his saber. His main attack is his saber beam attack. Double will fire a powerful plasma blast from his saber. He will also spin his saber creating a powerful plasma sphere. Another powerful attack is dashing using his saber to stab.

Weakness- His weakness is the double cyclone. However, when the player hits him blobs ooze from him. The blobs can do damage. Its best to just use power shots on him or the nova strike while dodging his attacks. Another weakness is even in his true form he underestimates his opponents. He believed that X was no match for him and paid the price.

Stats

Height in his true form he is about 165 centimeters or about 5'5. However in his true form he is over 214 centimeters or 7 feet tall.

Weight- in his first form he is probably 135 kilograms or 300 pounds but that is speculated. In his second form he is slender. Therefore, he can alter his weight

Power-unknown however he is a lot like Agile from Mega Man X2

Speed-he is fast

In summary, Double as his name implies is like a double agent. He acted like he was working for the Maverick Hunters only to be revealed to be a Maverick all along. Considering he was a maverick from the get go it is likely he was created by Sigma. In fact, he was likely created by Sigma to manipulate both armies in the civil war. His first form is that of an hunter that shows potential, cares for his comrades, but is a bit of a bumbler. His second form he is a tall maverick that is violent, manipulative, powerful, and fast. Double, despite being a bag guy is an interesting person. When I first played X4 I thought it was nicely done how he revealed himself in a plot twist. This concludes the Double Biography.
