Sting Chameleon is a reploid, robots who have human features such as DNA, feelings, and can make their own decisions, that appeared in the first Mega Man X game. He eventually became a maverick. He is based off the Chameleon a type of lizard. Anyway, let's learn about this Maverick.

Chameleon was built by Cain Labs. He showed great combat skills was placed in the ranger unit by General Sigma, who at that time was a Maverick Hunter. He was assigned to the 9th unit Ranger Division. Even though, he was a platoon leader he was not promoted due to him being unpopular with his comrades. A lot of comrades did not like him because he often used guerrilla tactics in battle. He would often ambush enemies and cause more damage than he was supposed to. Basically, he did not follow the law of engagement the Hunters were supposed to follow. However, due to his success his tactics were often overlooked. As a ranger his job was to protect the forests and jungles from maverick activity. Using the forest made him a deadly weapon as he could blend in with the forest and jungle.

When General Sigma became a Maverick he offered Sting Chameleon the chance to join him. Chameleon had second thoughts as he knew joining the mavericks would be rebellious. Sigma offered him a chance to be a top officer in the Maverick Army. Chameleon was given an ultimatum by Sigma, join the mavericks or be killed. Chameleon decided to follow Sigma. In the forest/jungle he would fire sharp thorns at anyone that did not have permission by Sigma to enter. He also blocked access to the Jungle/Forest except for Sigma's forces. He set up a fortress in one of the world's largest forest/jungles. He also rigged his stage with all kinds of booby traps. Eventually, X, and Zero depending on the game, tracked him down, and after a tough battle destroyed him.

Physical Appearance- Sting Chameleon is often portrayed being a green reploid. He also has yellow on him. However, like a Chameleon as well as other lizards he can change his color to blend in with his environment.

Personality Wise- He is a sly and sneaky type. He loves to ambush his opponents with guerrilla like tactics. However, his personality can be complex. He does not care what others think about him as he did not care his comrades pointed out he did not follow the law when he was a maverick hunter. On the other hand, he wanted to be promoted beyond platoon leader. He also has some guilt in joining Sigma. When asked by X or Zero why had he joined Sigma. His response is well maybe there are hostages involved. This is because of Sigma's Ultimatum either Join the Mavericks or be killed.

Powers and abilities- He is a master strategist in battle making him a tough opponent. When he is in a nature setting he can turn invisible to blend in with his environment, this is when he is the most dangerous. He can fire sharp thorns at his opponents making him deadly. Moreover, his tongue can pierce armor and fire more thorns. If he gets into trouble he can escape like a real lizard.

Attacks- Sting Chameleon has a lot of attacks in his arsenal. His main attack is his sting attack. Chameleon will send several sharp thorns at his opponent, sometimes firing several in a series. He can use his tongue to fire more thorns as well. His tongue can also pierce armor thus he likes to use his tongue as a weapon in itself. He can also change his color and turn invisible making him hard to see and hit. His other attack is to climb the ceiling and send a reign of thorns down at his opponent.

Weakness- He is weak to the boomerang weapon. The Boomerang keeps him from using his tongue in battle. In addition, it can mess up his timing locking him into a pattern. The boomerang weapon can also cut tree limbs and expose Chameleon. Basically, he cannot hide and use his guerrilla tactics due to the boomerang weapon exposing his location. Without the Boomerang weapon he is difficult to beat.

If the player defeats him they will be given the Sting weapon. The player can fire 3 thorn projectiles at enemies. When charged up the player can change into multiple colors and can even bypass certain enemies without being seen.
