hi, hope everyone's doing well.

something i've wondered on and off is whether it could ever be made possible to edit your own threads that were closed in the past?

at the moment i can't remember anything in particular that i would like, die to have removed or edited out, but it would be sort of cool to have that option lol. has this sort of thing ever been considered, and/or would it be possible to implement at any point? requesting that administrators edit multiple specific posts of yours from years ago seems much more tedious and time-consuming than simply having the ability to comb through your own stuff yourself, at your own pace.

i can't really think of how to explain this urge that crops up in my head from time to time other than a general desire for privacy and rectification of some not-so-smart things i may have posted on here when i was younger and uh, less intelligent lmao. just curious about how feasible this is and whether anyone's ever wished for it too, or even thought about making it a thing.

I don't think it has ever been considered, though I can think of one reason for it: potential spam.

Who would actually surf through the closed threads and check if ALL of them still have the same posts? Who would actually check if I inserted a prohibited link in a thread closed 10 years ago?

Maybe I'm just going nuts by thinking this actually has a meaning or can harm the site in any way, but the potential threat is there and probably David wants to run no risks with this. With admins (or is it global+?) being able to do it, the threat is controlled and the content of said threads is kept safe.

At most, what we could change is the procedure in which this is done. We have a page for when somebody non-staff wants to add content to game pages, so maybe adding one for editing closed threads (still restricted to admins or global+ because privacy) could be done. It would speed up the process while staying away from potential threats.

Bump.
I think what could be done is whenever someone edits one of their closed threads, the edit gets logged somewhere that local moderators can access and moderators of specific forums where the edit happens. That way moderators can regularly see new edits and moderate the changes. How do moderators do it for posts that are open anyway? I bet there's a post of mine I could edit that's still in an open thread from years ago, so I'm wondering how that would be moderated and what the difference is.

And honestly I would love to have the ability to edit some of my closed threads or posts inside of closed threads. Even if only one person sees it every year, some of those posts need clarifications but are not so urgent that I would contact a moderator.

That's all. Hope y'all have been going great! Love you vizzed and thanks for defining part of my childhood and giving it some light where I needed it <3

I think that the only reason for doing that would be to remove what you said, otherwise there's no point in doing that. It's closed, nobody can reply, and nobody really cares about the thread anymore. Not Tryna be mean, just telling what I think of that.
