Punch Out is a popular video game franchise for Nintendo. The very first games were from the 1980's. Since then several games have been made. The first punch out game featured an unknown boxer that the player controls. In the NES it was revealed that the boxer the player controls was named Little Mac. Lets learn about the star and protagonist of Punch Out. First, in every punch out game. The player controls Little Mac. The goal is to defeat the other boxers and win championship belts. The top prize being the World Champion Boxing Championship. Standing in your way is mostly fierce competitors. Little Mac is an Italian American Boxer from the Bronx of New York. He took up boxing at a young age. At some time he met retired boxer and former champion Doc Louis. Doc Louis took the young boxer under his wing. Doc taught Mac his famous star punch which Lewis used to become champion. It is shown that Doc Louis put Little Mac through hard training. Having him chase after him on his bicycle. This was mostly done to increase Mac's stamina. He also made Mac eat a high protein diet and made him lift weights several times a week. This was to help Mac gain muscle. Moreover, Louis put Mac threw several boxing training, stretching exercises, and several endurance exercises. It was later revealed he even sparred with Mac knocking him out a few times so Mac would know what to expect. Eventually, Doc felt like Mac was ready for the big time so he had Mac turn pro. Louis serves as his coach and corner man in the games. Mac's appearance varies in the games. In the NES version he has tanned skin and wears white/black boxing shorts. In the SNES his hair is kind of blondish while his skin color is tanned. It is shown he has blue shorts. In the current games he wears a black tank top, green shorts, green shoes, and black shoe laces. If you become a Champion while controlling Mac his style will change. He will have green/red boxer shorts and shoes. His gloves will also change colors. His Red, Green and White could be a tribute to his Italian heritage as the Italian flag contains the colors Red, Green, and White in no particular order. In what is considered cannon Mac is a medium sized Italian American with tanned skin and dark black hair. Mac's personality has changed other the years. Earlier he was portrayed as a complainer especially when Louis puts him through hard training. He was also a little bit arrogant as he felt like he did not need training especially after he knocked out Glass Joe. However, Mac did not realize that the other boxers on the circuits would be more difficult than Glass Joe. Even though he knocked out Glass Joe a lot of others though big deal that he would probably not make it far. In current games Mac has matured and now looks forward to Louis's training. He is always wanting to prove his critics wrong by becoming a champion. Louis knows this and pushes Mac to be the best that he can be. He is happy proving his critics wrong. Basically, he has matured and is determined to win. He also has true grit as in later games he does not go down that easy. He also has passion for boxing. He loves to box. Even when he has nearly lost or taken a beating he will still raise his gloves. This will cause Doc Louis to say depending on the game. He loves the sport so much he can take a whooping and come back for more. He also seems to be humble compared to his earlier games. It is shown in Super Macho Man's second scene.
