Roguelikes have become one of the biggest genres in the indie space. You get a randomized map with randomized powers with different RPG styled elements to increase the power of your abilities to reach bosses and beat the game. Many of these titles are known for their heavy difficulty and massive variety in powerups, enemies, locations, and effects.

Some of the most well known roguelikes include The Binding Of Isaac, Dead Cells, PlateUp!, Vampire Survivors, Hades, Loop Hero, Enter the Gungeon, Crypt of the Necrodancer, and many more.

What is your favorite game in this style?

For me, it's Hades. It provides such a huge range of different ways to play in addition to having some of the most difficult enemies and tactics needed to clear the game alongside an endearing story that gives heavy emotion despite being a game that's randomized and a bit of a different experience each playthrough. Binding of Isaac is a close second, especially with all of the DLC that literally adds TENS OF THOUSANDS of new things to the game.

Hades, Crypt of the Necrodancer, and Moonlighter would be my three favorites ones. immediately

I loved Crypt of the Necrodancer so much that after I bought a digital copy of the game from the eshop, I went back and bought a physical copy of the collectors edition. I think the gameplay itself is pretty good but I fell in love with the soundtrack immediately.

As for Moonlighter, it was the first rougelike that I really cared for and I knew I wanted to play it the first time that I heard of it. I thought that having your own shop where you sell things that you get from dungeons was an amazing idea and I really loved the game.

I don't even need to explain Hades.
