I can only believe that 2023 will be slightly disappointing after the powerhouse that was Fall 2022 but there are still some good ones. What are some that you are hyped for?

The only one I have on my radar for this season is Tomo-Chan Is A Girl and I'm also excited for that have been announced are Konosuba and Edens Zero.

We're getting two Junji Ito series this year. One is Maniac which will adapt many of his famous stories such as Tomie, Gyo, and Uzumaki. Uzumaki itself will be getting another, full fledged anime adaptation handled directly by Ito, painstakingly and faithfully recreated in black and white. If you haven't read it yet and love scary stories, you need to get on it. Can't recommend anything higher. Some scenes are so revolting to even look at on a page.

We're also likely getting the actual conclusion to Attack on Titan this year. I saw in the news a few months ago the creator apologized for the manga ending publicly, let's hope they changed it, and that wasn't a preemptive apology for the anime too.

Other than that I know I'm not getting any more Jojo or Chainsaw Man for at least a year. I'll be getting into more anime this year, but gotta watch some very key stuff like Hunter x Hunter, FMA: Brotherhood, and Demon Slayer first.

alexanyways : Was it actually confirmed that part 3 if the final final part because at this point it looks like it could have been a regular season and then a final season and who knows what can happen next.

What did you think of Chainsaw Man?

zanderlex : They did a 10 second trailer announcing a 2023 release and in the Japanese text it had the subheader "Conclusion"

It is really weird though, season 1 had 25 episodes, season 2 had 12, season 3 had 22, and there's already been 28 episodes in the final season. All of these "parts" should probably have just been their own season.

The biggest complaints about the ending in the manga is that it leaves a lot of unanswered questions and has a lot of unexplained information that makes it seem like the character motivations in the end are very flawed. They haven't announced exactly how many episodes are in this final part but in the last episode that aired it was very closely leading towards the conclusion. I'm thinking 8 episodes if we're not getting a more fleshed out ending and perhaps 10-12 if we're getting something fresh that won't be as controversial.

I really liked Chainsaw Man. I thought the origin story was bleak and hopeless, and that the mechanics of each characters abilities are really interesting and well thought out, and that the protagonists wacky motivations are a funny psychological response to the life he lived and that he's still a teenager who has been deprived of a normal life to pay his debts. The way he was treated throughout by other characters despite constantly proving he's on their side is definitely something I'd like to see more evolution on, as it was heartbreaking to see him finally in a good place but yet due to his mere existence he was put in his place in the exact same fashion as when he was working for the yakuza. Sometimes I feel like the anime is trying too hard to be a tech demo and that some things done for animation aesthetic work against the vibe of the show. Other than that, it's a very promising anime that will likely be going on for a long time, and it's a very good story.

The only 2 anime that come to mind both have already started airing those being Nier Automata and Pokemon Aim to be a Pokemon Master. I've not started Nier Automata yet but I did watch the first episode of Pokemon after it aired the other day and I like how it started I'm curious what they going to do with Ash in his final 11 episodes.

I'm waiting for the continuation of the Thousand Year Blood War Arc of Bleach. Watching it again has helped me recapture some of that feeling I had as a young teen following it every week. It has not disappointed.

It has this slightly more mature aesthetic, that makes it stand out from other long running shonen anime. I suppose, given that most of the characters are a bit older. Seeing so many cool abilities and moments being put on screen after 10 years has been a trip.

zanderlex : really strange news. Two 1 ½ to 2 hour episodes. Pretty surprised but definitely seems fitting.
