Today, it was announced that all the mainline Kingdom Hearts games are going to making their way to the Switch next month as three seperate games.

That's a lot of games and extra content right there, easily 400 hours worth of content. But there are two problems. The first is that the games are ridiculously expensive, even more so than your standard switch tax. The second problem is that they're all cloud versions.

All the games are on sale right now, but the standard retail price for all three games is $40, $50, and $50. So if you buy all the games by themselves, it costs $140. There's also a bundle that gets you all three games for $90, though it's on sale for $72 until the game is released.

Even $72 is a steep price considering you can get a sealed physical copy of the collection on PS4 for only $25.

But on top of all that, they're all cloud versions too, which means that you can't play the game without streaming it. That only makes the price worse. Plus isn't one of the main points of the Switch the fact that it's portable? You'll have to be tied to your TV or at home anyway to play.

I'm just really confused...I can understand KH3, since that was made with the PS4 in mind, but the other two don't make any sense to be cloud-exclusive. They ran just fine on the PS3, and that's significantly weaker than the Switch, and they also ran fine on the PS2 originally, so what's up? The bundle price is about as expected, honestly, it's the cloud thing that I'm confused about.

Guess this is one more finger on the monkey's paw curling inwards - the last one was when people wished for KH on PC, and they got $200 Epic-exclusive KH on PC.

Nah last one was F7r for $70 also epic exclusive but the streaming issue with data caps is no good in the US

It's pretty sad to see companies go this lazy route of "putting" their games on the switch instead of putting in the effort of actually porting the games to the switch.

Paying full price to stream a game to the switch is ridiculous and only serves the purpose of being able to make some money off of people who have no other option to play these games or don't know it's a cloud streaming version.

At the end of the day it just illegitimatizes the switch as a platform and gives me no reason to want to "own" these games on the switch. What a joke

This was easily the biggest gaming disappointment of the year. I was super excited to have a chance to play these games, only for them to be cloud versions. And I'm not paying that much money for a game that could one day become unplayable.

I hope there's going to be outrage by the media about this so they actually can get off their lazy asses and port the damn games. At least the first two.

Gaming companies are one big disappointment with stuff like this. I'm still waiting for Persona 5 to get a switch port as well but nooooo we can't have nice things.

Furret : The sad part is that Square Enix usually publishes a new game every 1-2 months but when Babylon's Fall releases in March, it will just be their 2nd game in nearly 8 months, and as developers, they aren't actively making anything other than FF16, so it's not like they couldn't work on a port.

I have noticed nowadays square...and other things in the gaming industry I am not seeing much jrpgs or rpgs they make. and its made me to do some food of thought to do a lottt of thinking. I think this is silly I have all of the kingdom hearts games on the ps4. and people still buy it on other consoles even though they have already got it for another console. I of course will be avoiding this as I dont see a point to buy another set for no reason. and regardless....the fans will still waste thier money to buy the game set of kingdom hearts thats going to the switch. :/

The fact 1.5 and 2.5 are cloud versions annoys me to no end I don't know why we can't have a normal port of those games the Switch should definitely be capable of handling it.

Furret : If I recall your windows thing on mac got better right? maybe PS2 Emulation is possible for you now? I don't know but obviously Persona 4 Golden would be higher priority to try and get working through steam or at least I'd assume since you enjoyed 3 FES.

Persona 3 FES was fun (still haven't finished the post game story though lol).

I hope Elon Musk buys all these companies and makes the games available to everyone. We need to turn him into a gamer so he will actually do it.
