First to my knowledge major RomHack of Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl has received a 1.0 release.

This hack is a port of Renegade Platinum by Drayano on the NDS to the switch but by a different team.

The hack has a few differences from Renegade Platinum at this time. Some of the changes are such as movesets are updated to gen 8, currently no Distortion world like platinum, and static encounters/receiving the other starters not done yet.

How do you feel about some major changes to the game are already being made despite it being out for less than a year?

I think their next major goal is to have an easier way to add models and make new areas in the game for places such as the distortion world. If they managed to get that added to the game that would be amazing to see in a modern Pokémon game.

I love Drayano hacks so much. They add a level of difficulty to the games that isn't just relying on stupidly giving enemy trainers insanely high leveled pokemon and legendaries. (see: something like Dark Rising. Absolutely terribly made game that is not fun to play in the slightest)

Drayano instead focuses a lot on team composition and team building, making use of Pokemon's competitive side to create custom and optimized movesets and item choices to enemy trainers (mostly to boss fights). He balances this out by giving the trainer access to a wide variety of Pokemon so they can build teams accordingly to prepare for certain fights. Most Pokemon also receive small or sometimes significant changes to stats, movepool, and even typing to make even the little bugs and rats viable options for your team.

If this game is a success I'd be delighted. Not only would it pioneer Pokemon Switch rom hacking, but potentially adding new areas and models would completely open the field to make custom regions and stories for the switch. Currently the GBA games for gen 3 or DS games for gen 4 are most commonly used for custom regions but they are obviously locked to the 2D art style.
