I had quite the wacky imagination when writing this chapter...
Chapter 13
Greeny has no chill, Violet thought while they traveled to the building. Greeny held a giant bucket of painting supplies.
“All this working out is paying off!” Greeny chuckled.
Just keep boosting your ego, Violet thought angrily. I offered to carry the supplies, but the second I spoke up, you had to interrupt and take the bucket.
“So Blinky, how long have you and your team been at this Pac-Man chasing thing?” Greeny wondered.
“About thirty-eight years,” Blinky stated. “I remember the 1980 days when all we did was try to catch Pac-Man in that little maze. We got paid for it back then but Pac-Land isn’t too interested in watching that kinda stuff anymore.”
“Aw man, that stinks,” Greeny sighed. “But what we’re doing right now is so much more fun, right? It’s bigger and better.”
“Yeah… but I miss those days sometimes. Don’t you guys?” Blinky asked.
“Yeah,” Inky and Pinky agreed.
“No,” Clyde disagreed.
“So Clyde, you think this is better?” Greeny asked.
“No,” Clyde responded again.
“Why not?” Blinky asked with concern, looking right at him.
Clyde fell silent and rapidly pointed toward and away from Greeny in a twitch-like motion. Greeny was holding the paint supplies bucket, so he couldn’t see it. Violet, however, saw it clearly. She smiled and hoped that Clyde would notice. Blinky nodded, remembering their discussion earlier. He still thought Greeny was a friendly, valuable partner and couldn’t see anything Clyde was warning them about.
I can’t believe it! I’m not the only one who realizes how much meaner Greeny is. I mean, I lead this team with him, but his personality is just now getting on my nerves so much! Violet thought in a rush of words. I know what to do... I’m gonna test him!
All the ghosts nearly reached their destination when Violet came up with her idea. Greeny and Blinky kept discussing what Blinky’s team’s old days were like and what Pac-Man did that made it so difficult to catch him.
“Every time we were sure we had him he ate a ghosteater pellet!” Blinky told Greeny.
Greeny raised his eyebrows. “A what?”
Violet calmed herself. “Greeny, do you want me to carry that bucket the rest of the way? I can’t imagine how heavy it is.”
“Oh, believe me, only I can carry a bucket this heavy! Thanks for offering though,” Greeny answered.
“Are you sure? I bet I could do it,” Violet replied. Clyde
looked at her, wondering what she was trying to do.
“BET!” Greeny screamed.
“Bet,” Violet agreed.
“Alllriiiight,” Greeny whined. He handed her the bucket, which she lifted over herself. Greeny’s jaw dropped because she had the courage to prove him wrong. He turned around and tried not to show his anger. Violet tried not to show her excitement about that victory. I had quite the wacky imagination when writing this chapter...
