There are way too many Pikachu events.

I love random Pokemon events and the ability to get cool mystery gifts with different Pokemon, especially when they are legendary, but throughout 2020 they've all been one Pokemon, Pikachu, and I have had enough.

I wouldn't have even cared if it wasn't for a final 2020 event where ANOTHER Pikachu was given out, and there wasn't even anything too special about this one.

There were officially 21 Pokemon events in America throughout 2020 with different means of entry such as mystery gifts, newsletters, and more. 9 of those 21 events were for Pikachu.

The first 8 were earlier this year where you could get a bunch of Pikachu wearing different hats. The 9th was actually released on December 31st and was basically just a Pikachu that knows Wish and carries a $30K item.

Some variety would have been nice.

I imagine they just put this song on anytime they choose which Pokemon to use for an event.

The short of it is, Nintendo is beating a dead horse with the franchise. There are still dedicated players from back when it was just blue/red but each new game is more effort (especially graphics-wise) to get fewer new players than that initial unprecedented rush; since Pika was the mascot for that rush they keep hoping to see people flock to the banner again.

Just wait for 2030's 'why have we been fixating on Grogu the baby Yoda for a decade straight'.
