This is a fun chapter because now all eight ghosts meet! I figured having a second four-ghost team would make things super fun. Enjoy!

Chapter 3

“You know what? My dream was unbelievably GREAT,” Inky informed the others.

They were all eating their breakfast late in the sunny morning, retrieved from the cupboards and poured out: Nice Krispies cereal from Booming City, just like all of their basic needs.

“I had a nightmare again,” Clyde told them. “Pac-Man trapped me in the tunnel of the maze, and suddenly there were lots of Pac-Mans. AHHHH!” He freaked out and slammed his spoon down onto the table, which flipped and then landed eating-side-first. Thankfully, they didn’t have to worry about their spoons dropping onto chairs; they had no chairs and never needed to sit down. Plus, the spoons would be hard to find because the only lighting they had was the neon lights above them.

“Oh wow can’t imagine how hard it’d be to outrun multiple Pac-Mans,” Blinky responded.

“I can’t imagine it and I won’t imagine it!” Clyde whined.
Blinky asked, “What do you guys wanna do today?”

“Ooh! We should go back to the arcade in Booming City!” Inky exclaimed, bouncing in the air.

“Yeah! Remember the dude last time who gave us all his tokens?” Clyde asked. “He said he had too many.”

“That was so cool. We need to go there,” Pinky agreed.

“Alright it’ll be fun! We gotta have a meeting tonight maybe at 11 PM. I have some stuff to share that I think you’ll all love,” Blinky smiled.

“SWEET!” Inky shouted.

Clyde began to cough a lot since his food went down wrong. Once he cleared his throat, he told Inky, “Don’t DO that when you’re right next to me! Man, that made me jump.”

“Sorry, got too excited,” Inky told Clyde. Clyde rolled his eyes in response.

The ghosts finished their breakfast and floated over to Booming City, their densely populated hometown that they were thankful not to live in anymore. Their work would have been so much harder if they lived in Booming City because they would have to travel far to reach Pac-Land all the time. However, they loved visiting Booming City when they were on their break each month, which went as long as three weeks sometimes.

On the way to Booming City, the wind started to pick up. Clyde worried that he’d drop the money he was holding, so he gave it to Inky and told him, “Don’t let go of it until we’re all the way up to the counter at the arcade.”
Blinky still kept thinking about the plan he made, but he knew he should let them have another full day of fun before bringing up something as huge as what he thought about. Pinky whispered to him while Inky and Clyde watched the money and laughed with each other.

“Hey Blinky, what’s the meeting for tonight?” Pinky asked.

“It’s for us to discuss what I was thinking about last night,” Blinky whispered back.
Pinky answered, “Oh, cool. I can see it’s stressing you out. Try to have fun with us! We have the whole day to ourselves like we have for the past couple weeks. That’s because of you. You deserve to have fun, alright?”

“Yeah I think I’ll be alright once we get there. It’s been too long since we went to the arcade!” Blinky responded.
When they arrived at the arcade, they paid at the counter and split up. Clyde played a timed basketball game, Inky played Yahtzee, and Blinky and Pinky played air hockey. The only problem was the air wasn’t working. Blinky and Pinky needed to hit the puck without sending it off flying into Clyde’s basketball hoop.

“NO!” Clyde screamed. He threw one of the basketballs too hard, so it bounced backward onto the floor. It bounced onto the air hockey table and threw Pinky off. Blinky barely scored a point and won the game. Clyde stopped the basketball before it could alter someone else’s game.

“Oh yeah!” Blinky yelled in victory. While he continued celebrating, a confident stranger approached, asking Blinky to face him. Blinky agreed.

“What’s your name??” the stranger asked Blinky. “You seem pretty good at this. I mean, winning the game when a basketball hits the table? That’s craaazy.”

Clyde interrupted to apologize to Blinky. Blinky told him about the win Clyde gave him, which made Clyde bounce with joy back over to the basketball game.

“Oh uh sorry. My name’s Blinky,” Blinky answered. “What’s yours?”

“Greeny,” the stranger replied.

“Hmm, nice name. Certainly fits you,” Blinky laughed.
Greeny laughed back. “I know!” he bragged as if he gave himself that name.

Even after Blinky explained the fact that the air hockey table had no air, Greeny wanted to challenge him. They played an intense game full of hard-hit angle shots, precise blocking, and the puck flying off. A few minutes later, Greeny won the game by three points.

“YEAHHHHH!! I DID IT!” Greeny roared. “We should compete in basketball over there when that orange guy is done!”
Determined to redeem himself, Blinky accepted this challenge too. The second Clyde finished his game, Blinky asked him if they could have a turn for a little bit. Clyde told them they could.

“Wow, he looks strong!” Clyde said about Greeny. “But you got this, Blinky!”

“Yeah, I am strong. We’ll see!” Greeny chuckled.
Since the basketball game only gave players 30 seconds per round, they decided to play best of 5. Greeny kept whipping the basketballs at the backboard while Blinky focused on getting some three-pointers. Greeny started off well, but his strategy didn’t work in the last three games. Blinky got a feel for his throw and stacked up his points very quickly. Greeny couldn’t keep up, even when he copied Blinky’s strategy. Blinky won 3 games, therefore winning the whole match.

“Whew! Good games,” Blinky said, panting.

“Thanks man,” Greeny replied. “How are you so good at this stuff?”

Blinky answered, “Well I just focus hard and have fun. Plus my team and I are off work right now so we have a ton of energy.”

“Oh, who are you workin’ with?” Greeny asked.

“I’m in charge of a four-ghost team. We try to catch our archenemy by tricking or trapping him,” Blinky smiled.
Greeny’s face lit up. “Oh nice, tricking is my specialty! Well, more like pranking.”

“Interesting,” Blinky chuckled.

“Now I’m wondering,” Greeny began. “Who is this archenemy of yours? How awful is he?”

“His name’s Pac-Man,” Blinky informed him. “He’s a really awful yellow guy shaped like a circle. We just wanted to chase him around a maze and catch him but then he keeps trying to chomp on us when he eats this powerful pellet!”

“Wow man, that’s tough,” Greeny responded. “So you wanna catch him for good so he doesn’t chomp on ya anymore?”

“Yeah I do,” Blinky nodded and smiled.

“I think I’ve found a mission I wanna be a part of,” Greeny grinned. “Let me introduce you to my team.”
