Ok guys so....wasnt sure if someone made a thread about this is there a reason why david hasnt put on a ps2 emulator for vizzed? I know for that it needs powerful computers to run these games.

More than the powerful computers is the fact PS2 games are very big and would suck out a lot of bandwidth, which David can't afford right now. There's also the problem of legal issues, the PS2 is a very recent system.

I've always thought that we could overcome these two issues by simply putting the emulator up in the Play Your Games app instead of the RGR, but we can't overcome the third issue: David himself doesn't have the knowledge to install emulators in the plugin, and tom760 isn't always available to work on it.

We'll see what happens after this year, when Flash gets phased out, but right now it's not possible to see a PS2 emulator in Vizzed in any form.

I don't see it happening either.

For one - PS2 games are huge like EX Palen said.
And two - the computing power to run the emulator on my own computer is not insignificant. You wouldn't be able to have a server powerful enough to run it for dozens of people at the same time. Not to mention the bandwidth as well.

PS1 seems like a stretch to me even. I've tried to play the PS1 games and while they aren't awful they definitely run better when I run them locally.

I'm not saying it will NEVER happen.... eventually the amount of bandwidth for those games will be less significant but right now I don't see it. I'm also not saying I don't want it to happen. There are some great PS2 games out there that would bump traffic here.

I feel like this part is being brushed over, but it's worth mentioning that unlike the majority of games available in the RGR... PS2 games are still being sold as remakes/remasters on PSN. Even if you limited it to games not on PSN or PSNow, you just wouldn't have a wide enough selection of interesting games to make it worth it.

Plus, David doesn't code the plugin himself, he's paid someone else to do that for him in the past, and given the state of Vizzed (and the state of the world), that's just not a high priority.

I'll go out on a limb and say it will never happen. Now, could they be made available through a Get-Your-Rom style site? Absolutely. But it will never be available on the site proper.

Thank you all for posting in this thread. I just wanted a clear understanding as of why and you gave it to me. I wasnt sure why there were no ps2 emulator, but why there is ps1 emulator to play games on vizzed.
