Divinity Original Sin is an RPG game that has a lot of old school mechanics but has updated and slightly adapted them for the current generation of gaming.

The game was considered a success and has got a sequel which i will probably be reviewing in the distant future once i get the chance to play it.

Graphics
The graphics are solid. Obviously it will vary slightly depending on what quality settings you play it on as it's a PC game, but honestly it still is a very good looking rpg. I don't really have many complaints on how the game looks at all. The only things that i really hope they could have improved on was the variety of armor and player icon looks available. When you play a game that actually shows the gear your wearing i feel that it really adds to it if you don't constantly seem to be wearing the same gear throughout the whole game.. I played with a sword and shield and i can remember 4 shield designs in a game i played for over 100 hours.

Sound
The sound is very good, It's very immersive and it actually had me humming along at some points which is great. I actually have no issues with the soundtrack at all and a lot of the character dialogue is Voice Acted which is great also.

Addictiveness and Depth
Considering i played this with Symphonic roughly 3 times a week for 3-4 months. I'd say it was addicting enough to want to play it til it's end. I honestly probably won't play the game again as we pretty much did everything besides a couple of small quests. Considering we played for 100 hours. I'd consider this game at least addicting enough for players to want to finish. You could also play on insane difficulties and with different members so the ability to play more than once is definitely there. It even has an ironman mode if i recall

Story
The story was alright. It had a decent premise but there were parts that didn't really hit the mark for me personally. There was also a time where we basically lost a party member forever because throughout the game we didn't do precisely what the game wanted us to do with this character. Which lead to us having to kill them in a story event. There was no warning to this and some players won't even encounter this as they were one of a few characters you can use. There was also no warning for this desertion which lead to us basically spending the last quarter of the game with a character that we honestly didn't care about.

Difficulty
I wouldn't say this game was actually that difficult, It does have a few moments that are kinda stupid though. It functions very much like the older rpg's where if you go too far in certain directions you'll just get destroyed. A lot of it's puzzles also didn't really seem to be thought out that well in my honest opinion. The moment that urked me the most was basically a stat check in what can be described as the final dungeon before the final boss. You needed a certain level of perception and the only indication you'd need this is a perception potion at the start of the dungeon. Even with this potion my character actually couldn't pass this stat check so i'd essentially be stuck in the last part of the dungeon without knowing what to do. It sometimes felt the game threw in old school mechanics but never thought them out fully also.

Final Thoughts
It's a good solid game but it can be irritating at parts, Whether it be puzzles that seem poorly thought out, characters leaving due to not interacting with them the way the game wants. It has great ideas but it just doesn't implement them well sometimes. I'd recommend playing this game with a friend so you don't have to slog through some of the more irritating or confusing parts yourself.
