Warning about savestates: If you really want to goof around with the game, by all means check it out. If you just want to play, avoid them at all costs. For some reason, if you try to use any savestates, it will enter a debug menu where you can access dip switches and toggle many different things about the game. The only problem is, I don't exactly know how to exit the menu, or how to make savestates work in their intended ways. Sorry to anyone who wanted to save a state for convenience, or anyone else who wanted to brute force their way through the arcade difficulty.
