Alright what is up cutiepies, I’m back again once again with a NEW, SUPER exciting review, so buckle up BROS. WII’re in for a fun ride!

Okay enough with this try hard pun stuff lmao I cba.

Once upon a time a company called Nintendo released a platformer game called Mario Bros. for the good old NES. After it reached massive successes they proceeded to release a whole army of sequels on every console they could find and create, which brings us to this game we’re looking at today. NEW Super Mario Bros. Wii was, as the name suggest, the newest addition to the Mario franchise when it was released for the Nintendo Wii back in 2009.

The game was a massive hit due to both the introduction of two awesome new power ups in the Propellor Suit and the Penguin Suit, as well as the option to play through every level in every world with up to 4 different players. That’s right, this game while seemingly friendly, allows for mass destruction as you fight your friends for dominance over Star Coins, power ups and more.

The mechanics have also been tweaked a bit to fit the Wii’s capabilities to detect motion coming from the Wiimote. In various levels you’ll have to shake your controller and tilt your controller to further enhance the experience. They even brought back the infamous picking up things from the more infamous Mario Bros. 2, a game that completely disregarded the original concept and wasn’t all that popular. However this time, they made it magical and fun. Due to various power ups being able to freeze enemies, you can pick them up and throw them while in their frozen state, as well as various helpful blocks like a light source or a Propellor block. But most importantly, you can pick up other players and throw them, easily being one of your most powerful tools when it comes to killing your friends to get ahead. Yes, I told you this game loves mass destruction. Lastly I want to touch upon the fact that Yoshi makes a triumphant return in this game, and he is still as gullible to the fact that you have the power to kill him as ever. Lovely.

But that’s it for the technical side of things. Clearly the most fun part of this review so brace yourself for the mainstream 6 category review that’s about to fall upon you.

Graphics - 10/10

Well I’ll say right now that I’ll put level design under graphics as well, in case you were wondering why this score was so high. I have a ton of fond memories playing through this game and enjoying practically all levels in it due to the complete variety in design, even within the same world. I’m currently replaying the game with some good friends (online, might I add ) and time after time I just smile ear to ear as I remember the adventures I had in the past when recognizing what level we were playing. This game as well as the Nintendo DS one have my favorite level designs of all Mario Bros. games. Oh, and the general graphics are great too. The worlds look alive and fun, the graphics for Mario and his friends, as well as the different enemies and blocks all look great. Easy 10.

Music - 10/10

Mario music will always be lit. They’re some of the most recognizable tracks in gaming and right now as I’m typing this I can hum along to so many from this game that I just have to give this a 10. I enjoy listening to them when playing and the fact that they can stick in my mind means they’re perfectly made for the game they’re in. Another easy 10.

Story - 1/10

I mean come on, let’s be real. Princess Peach turns 83 and she gets kidnapped. Whoop dee doo, yada yada, we go save her from Bowser and his kids. And Kamek the Magikoopa. Not much else to there really, though occasionally you’ll find a Toad who was dropped in a level somewhere by Bowser’s minions, which is pretty funny. I sometimes choose to ignore or kill them for bants.

Depth - 9/10

Usually in Mario games I always feel like the game was short and I’d prefer more levels, but not with this one. Maybe it’s the fact that because every single level in every single world feels so different that I get the impression there’s more of them than there really are. I mean there exist a total of 8 main worlds with roughly 6 or so levels each alongside a mini tower and the world castle, with the occasional airship thrown in. Then there’s a secret 9th world with like 8 levels I think, so there’s plenty to do and see. Great level design, again. Can’t say that enough.

Addictiveness - 10/10

I find this Mario Bros. game to be among the most replay able ones, mainly due to the fact that multiplayer exists and is so much fun. Sometimes it’s less about actually playing the game and more about goofing off with friends, doing MLG parkour or attempting to murder each other for fun. 100% completion is also fun to attempt, as in this game there are plenty of Star Coins that are actually pretty tricky to obtain, making it more challenging on that aspect.

Difficulty - 8/10

Which brings us to our last category. This game is decently challenging for a Mario game on its own, but throw in the difficult 100% completion challenge as well as the pure chaos of bouncing on other players’ heads, sometimes accidentally killing you both, as well as the general increase in difficulty when it comes to the levels themselves, and you’ll quickly realize this isn’t as much of a walk in the park as some other Mario games. This game more than any other Mario bros game really tests your parkour skills and your reaction speed, which makes it that more fun to play.

Overall - 9.6/10

I didn’t factor in the story due to how non existent it is. Mario platformers have never revolved around a good story line so I won’t critique this one for its admittedly horrible story.

This is by far the best Mario Bros game out there. It’s got everything you could dream for. Great level design, good music, decently challenging, wacky and fun multiplayer and plenty more fun stuff.

I personally use this game as the golden standard of how I want my Mario games to be, and the closer you get to it the better.

But that’s all she wrote for this one. I don’t know when I’ll write something else, but I’m currently too busy beating this game with input delay while still being on 0 continues. Try me.

Furret : good review friendo person been great playing it with ya lately. I 100% agree about the music the athletic theme in this game is so amazing. So far I would say favorite level so far is pretty much all the sky levels except the one we both hated. Least favorite was probably the ice level you have to do twice I was at one life the whole time it was pretty scary I gotta say those 11 continues are looking mighty unlucky as someone with none (lets not talk about how I'm really close to my first as we approach the end of the game all I gotta say is were gonna die xD
