In this craze of the Mini Classics loaded with tenths of legendary games, the TurboGrafx/PC Engine couldn't be left out. One of the finest 16-bit console of the late 80s and early 90s will get a second moment of glory starting next year.

In March 2020, the TurboGrafx-16 Mini will hit the shelves. At least in the North American market, because the console had different names in other regions and this Mini will follow suit, which means Europe will get the PC Engine Core Mini and Japan the PC Engine Mini.

The name isn't the only thing that changes between regions. Apparently, as the source linked below indicates, North America could get an independent library of games compared to Europe and Japan, and even though most of it is shared it can be unappealing for some.

Probably the biggest talking point for us, in the Land of V, is that Vizzed's Official Game, also known as Bomberman '94, isn't on the list of the TurboGrafx, but rather on the PC Engine. This could mean that North America would only get Bomberman '93, whereas Europe and Japan would get Bomberman '94 plus Bomberman Panic Bomber.

Those are just a couple examples out of the 24 games the TurboGrafx will have compared to the 26 the PC Engine will get. Not a big difference, but maybe if we go through the list we might see more than one thing unnerving us.

What do you guys think? Any game that should switch "allegiance"? Any game they left out? And will the 2020 netplay tournament be open to people who have purchased this Mini console?

Never played TurboGrafx or PC Engine myself so I cannot assess how valuable it would be to me as a gamer or worth getting.

I see no appeal in these mini systems when most the game library is missing! But I guess it is good for starters who want to experience retro classics. If they added full library it would definitely be worth the investment and sell a lot more units.

I'd probably pay money for is a N64 mini, PSX mini or DC mini as I grew up with those systems in the 90's and no longer own them. But with most the library missing that is a big negative to me. If I am going to invest money I want to get what I want not force fed titles which they think are the best.

JigSaw : A lot of people will buy these with the hopes that someone will find an exploit that allows them to load ROMs into them. Since it's basically an emulator, you could hypothetically put the entire library + hacks + homebrew on the thing as long as someone figures out how to hack it.

I didn't hear about this one until now. I'm not interested in it personally, but I'd still be interested in hearing how it ends up doing. The only non-nintendo related "mini" console I'd potentially be interested in would be a Dreamcast mini.
