FutureGrindis a fun little game that's about, you guessed it, grinding. It's not the kind of grinding you expect though. There's no skateboards at all, you're grinding using futuristic spaceship motorcycles. The game was just released today and it kind of blends the idea of a runner game with different kinds of challenges and a fun style.
GRAPHICS: 9/10
The graphics of FutureGrind are really good, mostly because of the backgrounds. Each track has it's own unique background that scrolls as you grind and progress through the level. There's a lot of different tracks so there's lots of different backgrounds to marvel at whether it's a town, a snowy mountain, or whatever. Just don't focus too much on the background or you will crash.
SOUND: 9/10
There's no voice acting and the sound effects are mininal but the real star of this area is the music. The music is futuristic, upbeat, and energetic. Really gets you in the mood to play along with the style of the game and it's a lot of fun to listen to on it's own
ADDICTIVENESS: 9/10
Definitely a lot of fun and this is really the kind of game where you may find yourself doing the same level over and over. Once you beat the entire game and there's nothing left to do, nothing's better than trying to do a previous level in a different way or trying to get a higher score or combo.
STORY: N/A
There isn't really a story in the same sense as most games so I'm not going to let that hold much of an influence over the overall experience. You're introduced to different brands which make equipment such as the bikes that you ride on. You use their bike on different tracks and you try to do all sorts of different challenges. Easy enough. There is one area of the game that follows a story when you're contacted by someone but I'm not going to spoil anything. But expect some fun once you reach 100%.
DEPTH: 6/10
The only downside to this game is how small it is. The early stages are pretty easy and you'll be done with them relatively quickly. I reached 20% competition before even playing for half an hour. There is a nice selection of tracks though and you can keep playing on these as much as you like. There's also five different brands that make bikes for you to unlock through the game.
DIFFICULTY: 6
The game starts off easy but as you play, it gets harder. You can also find yourself nearly at the end of a track and then you crash and it's game over. There's no way to get passed these challenges though, you just keep trying a certain level until you beat it. Most of the levels are going to take a good deal of concentration and some split second decision making.
OVERALL: 8.3/10
Overall, the game is a lot of fun. If it was longer it would definitely be a game changer because it's a beautiful game with unique game play and a fun and challenging concept. It can get more difficult with the later levels as you're tasked with more challenges but this is a great way to pass the time. My overall grade for FutureGrind is an 8.3 out of 10.
