Hello there and welcome to my third review of 2019,I hope you enjoy it! Burnout Paradise Remastered is a racing game with the twist of being able to wreck your opponents by slamming them into walls and traffic. It's also open world, so there is no actual track racing in the game so to speak of. You simply race from one point of the map to another.. With the route being left up to you. The game also relies on its boost mechanic which is basically Nitrous, which you can regain by driving dangerously and not crashing, by wrecking other cars.. Or by jumping off ramps. Graphics The graphics for the remaster are great, this being one of the main improvements over the original game, Crashes look more impactful, damage on cars shows a lot more and the cars themselves look better as well. Another thing to point out is that due to the better graphics it actually makes the game easier. As with the previous one when going really fast everything just became a blur and at times it was impossible to actually sometimes see a barrier or oncoming traffic. Sound The soundtrack to this game was amazing ranging from it's theme Paradise City by Guns N Roses to Girlfriend by Avril Lavigne, The actual sound of the cars is enjoyable to listen to as well. You actually sound like you're driving at an insane speed and that a single mistake will be costly. The sounds made when hitting/crashing objects is impactful as well. Addictiveness I would actually say the game can be pretty addictive, It's a game that can be insanely fun to play with friends online. The game also encourages you to beat everything by constantly giving you new cars to find and destroy after unlocking to get for yourself. Also the remastered version comes with a year full of DLC as well. Back when DLC was actually a new concept and meant adding decent worthwhile extra content. Story There isn't much of a story honestly, you just keep trying to win events and after a certain amount of wins you get given your next license, With the amount of wins needed increasing with each license earned.. Besides that the only other notable thing is the unlocking of new vehicles which involves you having to find them in the map and then destroying them to actually be able to use them. Depth The game actually has a decent amount of depth to it with the main campaign taking 10-20 hours depending on skill level and how much you power through the game. The DLC adds another 5-10 hours as well. So it's definitely a decent length for a game. The thing that stops the game from getting stale quickly is the different types of race mode. You have your standard point to point race. there's score attacks where you have to do drifts, jumps and if you're skilled enough barrel rolls. There's a event where all you have to do is take out a certain amount of cars before you destroy your own car, an event where you have to get to a certain point whilst a pack of cars tries to destroy your vehicle. There are also races that are specific to a certain car which involve you racing against the clock. if you beat the time set you will get an improved version of the car. Essentially this game has a decent length and enough race types to not bore the player. and that's without talking about the online multiplayer. Difficulty The game isn't that difficult, I ended up losing a race once every 5 or so races, with that usually down to me not concentrating or doing other things at the same time. I would consider it on the slightly easier side. The most irritating thing about this game for me was actually when you lose a race as you can't restart it. You have to go back to the starting point of the race and then try again. So failing the same race a couple of times could leave anyone rather annoyed. I do feel however that it's a very easy game to pickup and once you become familiar with the map and the hundreds of shortcuts and jumps in it. It's very unlikely that you'll lose many races. Final Thoughts Burnout Paradise Remastered is a game i would recommend to most people, especially ones who have played burnout 2 or 3 but never got around to playing paradise. It's a fun driving game that has a great soundtrack and is very easy to pick up and play. For me it is one of those games that is just simply fun to play regardless of who you are. and if you have friends to play it with it's even better! (I don't woe is me, it's also why i don't go in depth that much about the online multiplayer) So if you're looking for a racing game or a fun time i'd happily recommend this game. I absolutely love Burnout 3 and Burnout Revenge and they're two of my all-time favorite racing games. I didn't play a whole lot of Dominator, but what I did play, I didn't really car for as much. When I'd heard that Paradise had broken away from having set races in favor of a open world, I was initially skeptical and even jumped to the point of being disappointed even though I hadn't seen any gameplay. I suppose that's on me for being presumptuous and close-minded. Upon reading this though, I think I will keep an eye out for a copy at a good price. I may yet decide I really enjoy it, especially is it stays true to the rest of Burnout gameplay. |

m0ssb3rg935 : It's definitely a good game, It doesn't have the arcade games like burnout 3 though, like the weird destruction/ money game where you just blew up your car and tried to cause the most damage. A lot more recent racing games actually do point to point racing as a type of race, so you'll probably be used to it anyways by now A lot more recent racing games actually do point to point racing as a type of race, so you'll probably be used to it anyways by now |
