If any of you have seen season 1 of Stranger Things, you might know what I'm talking about because the show made a colossal error with their timeline.

First you need to know a bit about the timeline. The show begins on November 6th. Just the opening scenes though of the monster escaping Hawkins Energy and Will Byers being "snatched". Then we have the title sequence and the rest of the episode takes place throighout November 7th.

Throughout the day their are three events going on. The Byers are worried about Will and they go to Chief Hopkins who starts doing a search. Eleven is seen roaming the town and spends presumably a few hours in a restaurant before going to the woods at night. Lastly, Wills friends are also worried about him so they sneak out and do their own investigations. At night they explore the woods where Will went missing and it's pouring and they run into eleven.

Let's fast forward a day or two. Hopper finds a pipe where a piece of cloth is. He thinks it is Wills and that he went through. (In reality it was Eleven coming out) The pipe leads into Hawkins Energy and Hopper investigates. He looks at security footage and sees nothing. When he leaves, he says that it was raining on the night of the 7th and there was no rain in the footage. Cool that means that they hid the real footage which means they're up to no good.

But wait. Why did Hopper request to see November 7th? Will dissapeard on the 6th and Eleven was all over the town on the 7th, meaning she went through the pipe on the 6th. Did Hopper think that Will went missing one day but spent the entire next day going around a town and nobody saw him? He had no reason to consider looking at the 7th. What if Hawkins Energy actually showed him the right video from the 7th? There wouldn't be anything to worry about because nobody would have been in the video since Eleven escaped the night before.

Hawkins energy hid a video that literally had nothing on it and Hopper requested to see a video that was from the wrong day.

This event was what started Hoppers giant conspiracy theory and it wouldn't have happened if it wasn't for a continuity error.

Or maybe the 7th starts at midnight and he figured it was most likely that he went missing on the morning of the 7th than on the night of the 6th. More specifically he wandered into the lab after midnight on the 7th.

geeogree : That wouldn't be right either because the rain started late at night on the 7th, 24 hours after he went missing. Plus they said that the last time he was seen was at around 8 PM on his way home.

I think you're reading too much into all of this. Will went missing on the 6th and Eleven went missing at the same time. Eleven crawls through the pipe at some point that night, whether you say night of the 6th or morning of the 7th it doesn't really matter. The point is that on the 6th it wasn't raining.

Hopper asked for copies of the 6th and the 7th. Go watch episode 3 about 17 minutes in. They watch the tape (probably fast forwarded waiting for Will to crawl through the pipe. No Will (or Eleven), no rain. That means the tape was that he was shown was fake.

I see no error here.
