There are a lot of bands that I listen to that you typically don't hear people talking about too often. I'd like to have a thread dedicated to bringing light to some of your favorites that you don't see people talking too much about.

Feel free to mention the band's genre and maybe even link of their songs for people to give a listen!

In particular, a band I think people should definitely talk more about is The The. I know, it's a silly name, but some of their music is really really good. They're sorta post-punk new-wave to an extent. Here's one of my favorite songs by them!

I get linked to some pretty indie stuff a lot, and a lot of it's good, but one band in particular, Elder, should be bigger than they are, in my opinion. Their first album wasn't all that great in my opinion, but I feel like they were still trying to figure out their sound. Their second and third full albums, Dead Roots Stirring and Lore, and their EP that was released between them, Spires Burn/Release, are fantastic in my opinion. One of those bands that you hear a couple albums from and you wish you could find more of, but really can't. They released another album in January of 2018, and while it's still good, it's a little bit different from what they were doing before.

Here's Dead Roots Stirring, Spires Burn/Release, and Lore in a playlist around 2 and a half hours long. It's an adventure. Fair warning: there's a nude woman on the cover of Dead Roots Stirring, but it's not real graphic.

12 Stones, they are a band I've found that I haven't even heard of until listening to them on Spotify, quite a number of their songs speak to me. My current craze is with their song Stay.

I wish zebrahead was really more popular with people, but they are a late 90s and 2000s punk rock group and they have really gone out of style I guess so it's understandable people don't talk about them much anymore. I'm just glad they are still making music.

Lexatom : lol I remember their song from Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3. No one has any idea what the lyrics are, it's too fast and chaotic. Good band though.

Though their songs might have a few million fews, I don't think I've ever met anyone in real life who knows anything by Jungle. Jungle For Ever just came out this fall and it's got some great songs.

I had no idea they had one of their songs in that game. Do you know what the title of the song is?

Kings of Leon. They were pretty popular when they released “Sex on Fire” and “Use Somebody”, but since then, they’ve pretty much fallen off the map. They had some really good songs before those two hits (mechanical bull) and have recently released a lot more good songs (walls).

I like talking about music, but when not too many people know Kings of Leon for anything except for Sex on Fire, it gets kind of difficult to maintain that conversation.

Yeah LMAO. But I forgot about them until Leggy told me about them so I started really listening to them a couple years ago. I love Check, that's a really good one, and was also in their first album.

Lexatom : I was actually reading through this thinking "Why does that name sound so familiar!?!?" and then I read the Sonic '06 comment LOL.

To be honest, Sonic music was some of the first music I went out of my way to listen to. Growing up, I never really was the type to just "listen to music." It was always something someone else was playing or it was a background noise. I just played whatever the band director gave us lol.

One of the first major bands I liked was Bowling for Soup. I've recently tried to widen my spectrum and the Bowling for Soup radio stations on things like Pandora and Spotify have introduced me to others like Skillet and Linkin Park (yes, I know I'm way behind on these bands lol). But since it's actually been a while since they got a dedicated listening session from me, it still just sounds more comfortable to hear Jaret Reddick's voice. Female singers are quickly growing on me, though. Haven't seen the show, but RWBY's Casey Lee Williams has a heck of a voice.

I love Bowling for Soup so much. Did you also know Jaret Reddick sung the main theme for Sonic Unleashed as well? Seems like Sonic has a thing for punk rock artists.

Lexatom : Yes, he's done some epic side projects, like the theme song for Phineas and Ferb lol. Fun fact, though: I actually found out about the lyrical Endless Possibility theme after I heard the Super Sonic vs. Perfect Dark Gaia theme (the orchestrated version). I thought it kind of killed the epicness of the song when I first found out it had lyrics, but since Jaret was singing it, it grew on me lol. That song remains one of my favorites. A great orchestral arrangement by Tomoya Ohtani, I believe.
