In each of my three colleges, I was like a Pokemon in a different evolution stage. In each school I did more and more. This semester was no exception as I was even more active. The things that I did the most outside of class was work with the school radio and newspaper. This was my 2nd semester with the radio and every now and the. I would go down to the studio and write and record a PSA.

For the newspaper, I was the sports editor and I also did arts writing, and I did A LOT of writing. I had 7 articles in the 1st issue and we did a total of 4 issues. Used to spend a few hours a day in our office.

In addition to all the extra stuff, I did a ton of writing for class since I was taking 1 English class and 3 journalism classes and in addition to that I did work study in the schools mail room. I'm super glad that the semester is over and I only have to worry about work study for a month and then I start an easier class schedule at the end of January.

My last semester was pretty crazy too. Like you, I was heavily involved in a publication on campus. I was also heavily involved in Poker Club, and moderately involved in Newman Association and College Libertarians.

I also took 18 credits instead of 16, and the workload was significantly more. I handled it well though, and actually got a 4.0 for the semester, straight As.

Next semester should be easier for me as well. Hopefully I can get straight As again, and good luck to you as well!

tgags123 : Jesus how can anyone take 18 credits? I could barely take 12 last semester.

I feel like this upcoming semester is going to be a huge change in scenery for me.

Even though I will be taking 2 fewer classes, the workload is going to be a lot more difficult. I'm taking 1 health class and 1 writing class but I'm also taking an independent study class which is going to integrate what I do with the newspaper and outside readings and papers. What i do with the school paper is also going to rise. In the past as the sports editor, there wasn't that much to write about since there was ever only 2 teams playing during any given semester. We could only get like 4 total sports stories in each issue from all the writers. Now that I'm going to be the arts editor there's going to be a lot more to cover like movie reviews and such so I'll probably have to do an extra 2 or 3 articles per issue.

Then I have work study which was 6 hours a week for a whole year and starting this month it went up to 9 hours a week. I'm happy with that because it means an extra $200 a month. But I also found out that the government wants to cut off one of my funding programs. So if I want to turn the funding back on, I'll have to do an extra 5 hours of work study a week. Sure an extra $300 a month sounds great but 5 hours a week is going to be difficult to fit in when I have 3 classes and newspaper and the place that I do work study at closes at 4 PM. They would probably have to move me to another place that's far away from campus in order to stay late.

I also have to start worrying about my internship soon. I was going to do it this semester but I couldn't find a place. Now I have to wait until the fall to do one. I just hope that I find a place in time and that the hours I do there doesn't affect my days too much.

zanderlex : I usually take 16 credits. 18 wasn't horrible, but it was certainly more work. I just added a 2-credit Stress Management course to my regular schedule, which met twice a week. It was more difficult than I anticipated though, there were two big presentations that we had to do in front of the class, and they took a long time to prepare for.

I wish I could do a work study like that. Or just get a regular job lol. Right now I'm unemployed, which might have helped with the straight As despite taking 18 credits. Although it would definitely be nice to have a source of income, taking on a job in addition to the classes would certainly make things more difficult overall.

Mayve I'll just play more poker and win enough to live off of that lol.

I remember those days at college and I do not miss them. I spent a lot of time doing my hobbies. But since I was a Biology major I spent a lot of time studying. It seemed like during the semester I did not have time to do much.
