I'll update while we're at it.
I got laid off the best job I ever had. The timing is good because my wife is popping out kid number three in April. I already have two daughters, 4 and 2 years old, and my wife said she's intimidated to have all three at the same time by herself since the 4 year old isn't in school just yet. Now I can stay home and run rampant with my daughters in the spring. That's exciting for me.
I'm also getting in more exercise even without working at the gym. I'm hitting my 100 push-ups a day, 400 sit-ups a day, plus I managed to grab a bench from my father in law so I can do fly and some other workouts I couldn't without being supported. That, plus playing with my kids all day, every day, is letting me average around 17,000 steps on my Fitbit I stole from my wife. She hasn't noticed yet.
I have my resume and generic cover letter but I'm not really looking for anything for another month or two. Ideally, I'll last until June or July before I really have to think about getting a job. I can't be a stay at home dad eternally because it's just not in my genes. I volunteered at a local YMCA for a few hours today so I could get my adult interaction. It was staffed by some very lovely ladies and I got to flirt with all of them while we did a project for their big Winter Auction to raise money to send kids to camp. I'm helping the community and getting some time away from the girls.
Lastly, the flu has ripped through our house. My 4 year old puked all over the place a week back and i got her showered, cleaned up, and stayed with her while she battled it out. My wife felt like she was going to die for 48 hours this past weekend and my little one went through it this morning. I got a flu shot but I feel like it's my turn and I"m ready to take it on while handling the home chores.
I laundried, did dishes, cleaned the floors and bathrooms, ran the girls around, paid some bills, went to the library, got our tax stuff set up, and I'm ready to roll for tomorrow. All I need is some sleep, which I'm sorely lacking.
Insomnia for the win!
