Just Shapes & Beats - review
Just Shapes & Beats truly lives up to its name: in a 2D environment you get to control a shape and dodge pink shapes that take the form of the currently playing background music. But how good does it stand out?

Graphics - 10/10
The title of most honest game title definitely goes to this one. The player 1 shape is a cyan square, and the story happens in a paradise completely filled with... shapes. Some simple, some complex, but they're all shapes. The minimalism helps a lot in defining great character design, and sometimes in a creative manner, whether it's the NPC, allies and even all the musical hazards and bosses you come through.

Sound - 10/10
Since this is a music game, it's perfectly understandable that sound is a very essential factor in its enjoyment. Featuring a vast selection of over 40 pieces of EDM from several independent and lesser known artists, you'll find yourself strolling around blasting the game's soundtrack on your earbuds, because it's tremendously good.

Addictiveness - 5/10
Here's where the game's problems start showing up. If you're in for a completely casual playthrough of the story and completing the tracks in Playlist or Challenge Mode, alone or with other players in couch or online co-op, there seems to be nothing wrong with it. However, when you're aiming for those Rank S (no-damage runs of full tracks), especially with the recently added Hardcore Difficulty, the game starts ruining its purpose of being a music game itself. Even if you can anticipate an obstacle, most of the time in certain tracks that's not enough, because of the presence of a fun-breaker called... RNG. That's right. If you clear a track then go back to the playlist and play it again, you will sometimes notice differences in obstacle positioning, making the game solely based on reaction. It's okay for a game to become pure bullet hell, but not when RNG is added to the mix. Those Rank S are essential for some secret unlocka... Read the rest of this Review
An Ordinary Sonic ROM Hack

Halloween Special Review - An Ordinary Sonic Hack (beta)
Hello, everyone, and welcome to a very special review!
Ah, the Halloween... scary costumes and stuff, Dracula, demons, witches, monsters, zombies, pumpkins, sweets, sunshine, Slenderman, Jeff and Jane The Killers, sunshine, Tails Doll, Sonic.exe... wait, what? Did I mention creepypasta? Yes, I did, to introduce the review of what is, for me, even if it is in beta version, the best Halloween spin-off game, An Ordinary Sonic ROM Hack, made by Cinossu (or hapisan, his Youtube name).

Graphics: 9/10
Apart from the great 1991 Sonic The Hedgehog 1 graphics, it is reused, but improved, the Metal Sonic's flying sprite. That's what I saw... I don't have a great vision, so some people may experience seeing different sprites from the same move... The scary scenarios and effects will make this one of the best horror games ever made. When I'm talking about graphics, I'm also talking about coding... What a nice "cliche" effect it was made for distorting the timer and the score in the dark mode... and beware of scary messages like "heLLO"; "yOU shOuLDn'T hAvE bEEn tHeRE"; "i gOT yOu" and "I AM GOD". Unfortunately, and because this game is in beta version, it has some coding glitches. Sometimes it may give you extra lifes after defeating an enemy, or permanently play "Green Hill Zone", or even shutdown the music due to wrong coding with the Power Sneakers.

Sound: 10/10
Along with the great music the original game has, this game has a fantastic remix of "Hill Act 1" from the Sonic.exe game and it's respective drowning music, which adds a good creepypasta touch to the game.

Addictiveness: 10/10
This game is so innovative that it can rule more than any other creepypasta or Halloween game. The brand new style of gameplay makes you try and find the best path and timing for each level. There are 10 acts that are possible to complete without debugging.

Story: 10/10
Because this is a creepypasta-spinoff game, there is no "right" story.... Read the rest of this Review
Sonic 2 - Project Shadow

Sonic 2: Project Shadow review
Sonic hacks can be classified in many ways, but this one is considered as a graphic hack, in which the hacker changes the original level graphics to make a brand-new level. Using the Debug Mode of the original Sonic The Hedgehog 2 game allows a hacker to plan a graphic hacked level. But now, let's move to the aspects:

Graphics - 7
Graphically, this hack offers, as I have told, new organization of sprites to create brand-new and a bit challenging levels. The night level is one of the hot spots of the hack. I have also to mention that the Selbi's "trial and error" technique has been applied in that same level. By letting the pillars (in Ivy Lakes Act 2 boss fight) close, the creator of this hack added some sort of challenge in this boss fight, not letting people go over the pillars (otherwise they will get crushed). The HUD is simply awesome, it really is à-la-Shadow. Speaking of it, the Shadow sprites are good, but when he's waiting, it is just a black Sonic sprite. There's lack of sprites for Chao's (Shadow's sidekick) spin dash move. But there's a huge problem: playing this hack in "Vizzed Score Attack" bugs the entire HUD, disappears the ring and monitor sprites; and all badniks become "GIJI". This should be fixed. I wished Maria Robotnik The Hedgehog should be Shadow's sidekick...

Sound - 7
Honestly, the sound is a bit quite good. The Midnight Hill Zone's music is a bit catchy and the Hidden Base Zone's music is very good. But the Ivy Lake Zone's music is very boring! Action sounds (attack, spin dash, jump, etc.) keep the same as in the original Sonic The Hedgehog 2.

Addictiveness - 6
This is a suitable hack for regular Sonic The Hedgehog game players. A spice of challenge let the game become a bit addictive. But the fact that the hack is too short (only has 3 zones) penalizes the addictiveness factor.

Depth - 4
The game is quite small, it needs to have even more levels.

Difficulty - 7
Sprite r... Read the rest of this Review
