--------------------------------------------------------------------
Title - Star Wars: Revenge Of The Sith (GBA)
Hello, ladies and gentlemen. I will tackle Star Wars: Episode III: Revenge of the Sith for GBA.
On to the review (although I can explain how I managed to get this game in cartridge form).
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Not-So-Related Stuff:
One day, I was walking to Game X Change (that's a mom-and-pop video game store that sells retro video games - this was at least 7 yrs ago; possibly longer) from my house (which is a decently long walk; but I have walked farther than that before) and I got there in approximately an hour. I was looking around for a Game Boy Advance beat-em-up game. Then I actually found one (that I didn't get bored within the first 5 to 10 minutes of playing it). (No, it's not Final Fight one or Double Dragon Advance or River City Ransom EX; but it IS up there in terms of graphics, sound, addictiveness, story, depth and difficulty). That game is Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge Of The Sith. Now, allow me to tell you why I liked this game right off the bat. (If you haven't seen the movie Star Wars: Episode III: Revenge Of The Sith, then this game is the equivalent of said movie in beat em up form).
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Graphics - 9
I was actually impressed with how fluid the animations and how well the graphics look; the characters in the game look like their movie counterparts (you know who they are)! I can't say too much besides that the graphics are pretty impressive.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sound - 8
Now I know that the sound and the music (from the movie) cannot be perfected; but what is there does sound pretty good - I have to admit to that. At least it's not super-repetitive and ear-bleeding unlike SOME beat em ups before and after this.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Story - 8
If you have seen the Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of The Sith movie, then the story's extremely similar to the movie (except for the Anakin missions, but even those eventually reach the point to the movie's end).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Depth - 8
WOW; I was REALLY impressed by just how much depth there is in this game. First of all you have 2 characters to pick from: Obi-Wan Kenobi or Anakin Skywalker. Now, you may think it doesn't have that much to offer. Well...let's list of the reasons why I think this game has quite a bit of depth.
One: The 2 playable main characters have quite a few combo attacks (if you actually have played a good beat em up like Alien Vs Predator for the Arcade or Super Double Dragon for the SNES). Obi-Wan and Anakin do have different kinds of melee attacks (because they use light-sabers - because they are Jedi) which does help up in beating up the various enemies that will surround you.
Two: Both Obi-Wan and Anakin have force powers (again, this isn't particularly surprising). They do have different force powers (except for both of them having Force Push and Force Pull) that will help you defeat the various enemies in this version.
Obi-Wan's force powers are:
Force Heal (which REALLY helps in a bind - especially if Force Heal is maxed out),
Force Protect (this one also helps a lot - especially if Force Protect is maxed out),
Mind Trick (which stuns enemies on the screen; including droids - just how many depends on what level Force Stun is at (I don't understand HOW Mind Trick is able to stun droids, but if it works, it works))
Force Speed (which slows down every enemy on the screen so he can get to them without taking too much damage)
Force Push (which pushes enemies on the screen - how many depends on what level the force push is at)
Force Pull (which pulls enemies - how many depends on what level the force push is at)
Anakin's force powers are:
Saber Throw (throws his lightsaber at enemies; how far it goes depends on what level the Saber Throw is at)
Rage (increases the damage of his attacks; how much it increases his attacks depends on what level Rage is at)
Choke (chokes the enemies to death; how many enemies can be choked depends on what level Choke is at)
Absorb (absorbs the life force of enemies; how many enemies can be absorbed depends on what level Absorb is at)
Force Push (same as Obi-Wan's)
Force Pull (same as Obi-Wan's)
Three: You can upgrade the 2 playable main characters's force powers to level 3 (which is the max for every force power). You can also upgrade their stats (making the GBA (and PS2) Star Wars: Episode 3 - Revenge Of The Sith games have RPG elements. Upgrading your stats happens at certain points in the game.
The stats are: Stamina (which makes the playable 2 main characters have more health the higher the number is), Strength (which makes them deal more damage the higher the number is) and Intuition (which makes their force bar (which is below their health bar) regenerate faster. This makes for unique play-throughs; do you want a Obi-Wan with a high level of intuition, high health or high strength? The choice is up to you. Same goes for Anakin as well. While I typically upgrade Obi-Wan's Intuition Level to at least 4 and Anakin's Strength Level to at least 4 (leaving their other stats at a moderate level), you can either do that or the complete opposite of doing that; like I said, the choice is up to you. The maxmium level for any stat to be upgraded is Level 5.
Four: There are customization points hidden throughout the various levels in this game (10 of them, to be exact). You can use these customization points to upgrade the 2 playable main characters's force powers by 1 level.
Five: The game also gives you customization points for doing certain things throughout the levels (like speed-running them, using every force power, focus/fury attack, blocking/deflecting blaster bolts, every combo and stuff like that). You'll probably figure it out - I did so pretty quickly.
Six: Speaking of which....this game also has Focus and Fury attacks (which are the equivalent of super moves in this game). I'm not going to tell you how to fully do them, since the game has a way for you to look them up IN the game....however, these Focus and Fury attacks do help against the various enemies in this game. Note that each playable character (Obi-Wan and Anakin) has 4 of those super move-equivalents each. If you start playing this game (even in the beginning) you'll notice the Focus/Fury Bar right next to your character's portrait. To fill that Focus/Fury Bar up, you need to do certain things (for Obi-Wan's it's using your force powers and for Anakin it's attacking a lot - being aggressive). Also, just like upgrading with your stats, you are given 1 of the 4 Focus/Fury Attacks at certain points throughout the game. Another thing...some Focus/Fury attacks cannot be done unless you have a certain percent of your Focus/Fury bar.
Seven: If you complete the Padawan (and the Master) difficulties, you are given 50 customization points!
Eight: There quite a few enemy selections (although not as many as the PS2 version).
As for multi-player....I have never played it; one - because I don't have a second working Game Boy Advance and two - I don't have anybody else in my house or anywhere in my area to play with...so I can't really tell you how well that works.
There are also duels (just like the movie) that this is based off on and they work pretty well. Now, I thought these duels were going to be like Cutthroat Island's duels (which do not work that well and those duels in Cutthroat Island were mediocre at best), but no, I was proven wrong. The block button
is very useful here. The 2 main characters can also block high or low in the duels. The minor boss battles also work pretty well; I had no trouble with them.
There are some timed missions in this game (which you'll probably have plenty of time to complete them anyway) or kill/destroy a certain amount of enemies at certain points throughout the game.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Difficulty - 6
As for the game's difficulty; it is challenging (especially on Master difficulty), but not so frustrating that you will want to break this game in half or throw it away or something like that (or give up). This game does give you help, at the very least (unlike a certain SNES/Genesis movie-based beat em up, but I digress). It isn't easy, though, so be aware of that (although it IS easier (and far more fun) than Last Action Hero on the SNES and Genesis). See THAT review to find out how mediocre that game is.
One: This game does give you tutorials on how to do the various force powers and the Focus/Fury attacks throughout the game on the Padawan difficulty if you play this game for the first time (in a new save file). Tutorials are shown for the duels and boss battles if you play the Padawan difficulty for the first time (in a new save file). So, this game's VERY user-friendly. (This is like how Spider-Man 1 and 2 (for the Gamecube) had tutorials for first-time players).
Two: You can save throughout the game.
Three: There are power-ups which do help the 2 main playable characters throughout their adventures in this game (like an extra life, invincibility (in the form of Yoda's face, no less), force orbs (which refill part of the force bar), bacta tanks (which refill part of the health bar).
Four: In case you forget how to do the various Force Powers and Focus/Fury attacks, you do have a built-in manual to check on what buttons trigger the Force Powers and Focus/Fury attacks (no GameFAQs, nothing like that). (Again, this is like Spider-Man 1 and 2 (for the GameCube) and it's built-in manual).
Five: The 2 playable main characters have a LOT of attacks at their disposal.
Six: Certain Force Powers and the Focus/Fury attacks (plus the back-flip attack) negate any damage done to the 2 playable main characters during their full animation (which can really help out in a bind).
Seven: You do re-spawn exactly where you died (if you have any lives left).
Eight: You can throw rocks and other stuff at enemies (with Force Push or Force Pull).
I will say this: there can be as many as SIX enemies (or more, in some cases), which can shoot (or even stun or attack you to death), so be careful. Also, the difficulties are: Padawan, Jedi and Master.
Padawan is the easiest of the three difficulties, because you have 5 lives on that difficulty.
Jedi is the middle ground between Padawan difficulty and Master difficulty. You have 3 lives on that difficulty.
Master is the hardest of the three difficulties. You get 1 life on that difficulty (so be careful if you hope to conquer Master difficulty).
Yes, this game can be a little repetitive. It's not nearly as repetitive as some of the beat em ups that were made before and after this game, though.
There are locations (which are taken from the movie) that the 2 playable main characters go into (which I will not discuss since the game will show you them).
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Addictiveness: 10
Would I play this game again? Definitely, because I like tearing through enemies with an over-powered Obi-Wan with his Intuition Level set to max (with his other 2 stats being level 3 and level 2) or being aggressive with Anakin and having his Strength Level set to at least 4 (with his other 2 stats being both level 3). I also like Mind Tricking enemies (even when they're knocked down - which you can do that as Obi).
The fact that the Focus/Fury attacks exist in this game impress me. While I have seen special attacks make you invincible to damage during the full animation of said special and while I have seen super moves in beat em ups, the fact the the Focus/Fury attacks (and certain Force Powers and the Back-Flip attack) allow you to No-Sell any attack in this game is pretty much one of the reasons why I keep coming back to this game. While the difficulty is moderately challenging, it isn't stupidly hard or cheap, it's fair.
The duels are also one of my other reasons why I keep coming back to this game. The duels in this game remind me of the duels in the movie that this game is based off on (and it's done well).
It is definitely my 4th favorite beat em up on the GBA (behind Final Fight One, Double Dragon Advance and River City Ransom EX). It is also definitely my favorite Star Wars beat em up that I ever played (since Star Wars: The New Droid Army is boring and mediocre at best and Star Wars: Jedi Power Battles isn't too great either and Star Wars: Episode 2 - Attack of The Clones is apparently terrible (at least, that's what I heard)). Star Wars: Episode 3 - Revenge Of The Sith is a must play (at least for people like me who like quite a bit of depth in these games). If you can find a copy somewhere (preferably Amazon or Ebay (if you have to go that route)), purchase it (preferably for a fairly cheap amount).
My copy was around seven or so dollars (give or take 1 or 2 bucks) at Game X Change (if you can find any mom-and-pop video game store near where you live).
This is Kenneth$2, signing out. See you later.

Star Wars - Episode III - Revenge of the Sith Review   yaoyao9
What do you know? I'm looking at my childhood on a computer screen!
Yes, I grew up with the GBA, and eventually graduated to a GBA SP during my teenage years, but my first time ever playing any game in the 5-6th generation of gaming was this particular title, "Revenge of the Sith" for GBA. I still remember when the movie came out, and everyone was going absolutely nuts over the fact that the movie was so much better than the previous entries in the rather terrible prequel series. Then, the game came out, and everyone flooded the local Target and got their hands on a copy... except me. I borrowed the game several times from friends (and their GBA as well). Today, I was finally able to complete the game 100%. So, does nostalgia still bind me to loving this game? Let's see.
Graphics: The graphics of "Revenge of the Sith" (Hereby referred to as "RotS") is fantastic. While I cannot say that it pushes the GBA (GBASP, Emulator, GBMicro, or GBA Adapter for GameCube, doesn't matter) to its limits, I can say for sure that this game looks on par with the CGI present in the actual film, and the graphical icons for each character during conversations look great. The sprites are well drawn for those areas, and do a good job reflecting emotion and is pretty much the handheld versions of Ewan McGregor, Hayden Christensen, Samuel L. Jackson, and all the other stars of the movie. During the actual game, the sprites are still well drawn. Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, the various enemies you encounter, all look very good with nice, large sprites, crisp colors, and a definite likeness to the movie characters that even spectators watching a play session will have no problem recognizing each of the famous characters from the infamous (pun-city) prequel trilogy. The graphics are superb and a definite example of how this game shines.
Sound: The sound section, while featuring great remixes of each instrumental theme from the movie, does pale in comparison with the actual film, unfortunately. I understand that it is unfair to criticize a handheld game's music by comparing it to the actual score from the film, but being that it is a port of the movie's instrumentals to a game system (ALA Porting Mega Man 2 to the Genesis), I feel that it is not too far fetched to criticize the music just a bit. However, besides sounding inferior to the original movie tracks, the music shines superbly. Each tune, from the infamous "Imperial March", to the long lasting "May the Force be with You", to the toe tapping "Battle on Kashyyyk " are all extremely well represented, and I would absolutely love to have this soundtrack playing every time I go for a drive. It is the charm of synthesized music.
Addictiveness: Most of the addictiveness comes from trying out the different sets of force powers available to Anakin and Obi-Wan respectively. However, there is a catch. The only force powers available to both characters from the beginning are only Force Push and Force Pull. Reasonably, you can earn customization points to purchase other powers after beating a stage, but here is a problem: by unlocking other force powers through these points, a higher challenge is raised to collect more points. After every stage, one is ranked by how fast they completed the stage (speed), and how many times each unique force ability is used (style). Unlocking more powers means a player is forced to use them in order to earn more points in the "style" category, hence earning more customization points. It is very difficult, so I strongly recommend that one should refrain from buying upgrades until the game is finished to earn the most points possible. Anakin's unique movesets includes:
  • Saber Throw: Anakin throws his lightsaber forward. Can be upgraded to increase range and damage output. Note that one cannot move while the saber is out of Anakin's hand.
  • Force Rage: Anakin goes Super Sayan, channeling his rage to increase the power of his strikes. Can be upgraded to increase longevity of the state.
  • Force Absorb: Anakin pins an enemy in the air (similar to a force choke), dealing single hits to them while massively increasing his "rage" meter (special attack meter, usually rises as Anakin strikes his foes with the lightsaber). Can be upgraded to increase how much the "rage" meter increases.
  • Force Choke: Signature move of Anakin, chokes an enemy, delivering 1 unit of damage (1 lightsaber strike) to them at any range. Can be upgraded to increase the number of targets hit simultaneously.
Obi-Wan's unique moveset includes:
  • Force Speed: Obi-Wan temporarily slows down opponents to increase his own movement speed. Can be upgraded to increase longevity.
  • Force Heal: Obi-Wan stops in place to heal himself as his signature move. Can be upgraded to decrease force energy cost and increase healing amount.
  • Force Shield: Obi-Wan generates a shield to protect himself from lasers and bullets. Can be upgraded to increase longevity.
  • Mind Trick: Obi-Wan dazzles foes and causes them to freeze in place. Can be upgraded to increase stun time and the amount of enemies hit.
The problem with me explaining all of this to you is the fact that the game doesn't actually tell you any of this, so it takes trial and error to figure out what all these powers do. Otherwise, these make a great way to increase replayability. Obi-Wan and Anakin's drastically different play styles are also something to observe. Anakin is more offensive with his slow strikes and offensively based force attacks, while Obi-Wan remains defensive, using quick strokes to attack each enemy. All of this combine for a really interesting and unique experience. One will also be able to duel and recreate several key fights from the movie, and I will do no disservice as to tell you who you will be fighting.
Story: The story of "RotS" is really the most lacking element, but it does make sense. It cuts and pastes from the actual movie to create a story for the game that follows the film rather closely, and well enough that the story scenes make sense. The cutscenes and dialogue are all nicely recreated as well.
Difficulty: Newbies, STICK WITH OBI-WAN. Get the Force Heal ability and level it to max (3 levels, costs a total of 120 points) ASAP! Anakin's slow strikes and inability to heal himself is a huge bummer, and can make it quite easy for the player to die off. Thankfully, the game begins with a Padawan (4 lives) and Jedi (2 Lives) mode, allowing for people to take it easy. However, beware of the Master (no lives, all enemies do twice as much damage and take twice as many hits) difficulty, as that is one merciless piece of punishment you would not wish on your worst enemies. First of all, if one completes the game in either Padawan or Jedi difficulty, he/she would have to start over when he/she plays on Master difficulty. Even though all of your power ups carry over, it is still a difficult ride. Not so much for Obi-Wan as for Anakin. Obi-Wan can freely heal himself, and since the game allows you to upgrade your character's health, damage output, and force meter, Obi-Wan becomes an invincible tank; able to heal himself on a whim. Anakin doesn't have something like Force Heal, so he relies on clever positioning and being EXTREMELY PATIENT with the enemies. This makes Anakin boring and very easy to die with, so I wouldn't tell anyone to even ATTEMPT Anakin's later stages (Jedi Temple and Mustafar) without master his controls first. Ugh, what a huge difficulty spike!
Overall: I loved this game in 2007. Four years later, my opinions remain the same. Not only is this one of the greatest GBA beat-'em-up games ever, but also a great action game with fantastic control and playing options. Replayability is high, and I cannot praise this game enough. Play it if you have a chance, and be warned; you will be addicted to how much fun this game is. If you have a younger sibling or child that is still playing the new Call of Duty or whatever cash-grab rehash game is out there, give them a Gameboy Advance, this game (or a computer with an emulator and this game's rom), and allow them to enjoy the good old days.

The force is strong with this one.   MitsuriZX
Why,if it isn't Star Wars! I'll just go ahead and say, this is the best Star Wars game on the GBA. You might doubt it,but this game even got ported to the Nintendo DS,that's just how historic this game is. The DS port is vastly superior, but let's just deal with the GBA one first,ok?
So,this game is basically a Beat'em'up,and a very stylish one at that. It follows the story of the movie "Star Wars Episode III",and while it may not be a top-notch conversion from game to movie,it still does the job very well.
The commands are simple to learn, but hard to master. A button jumps,B button attacks.L button blocks,R button is used for force powers. But you won't be able to proceed with only those moves. You will learn Fury Moves, which are basically special moves that use up the fury bar,and require you to either hold B or press buttons while holding L and R.
Blocking is absolutely necessary, some stages are impossible to finish without blocking. Hidden in each stage are 10 upgrade points, but you can also get some extra ones by finishing the game quickly and without taking damage. You can use those upgrade points to upgrade your force powers, but you will also be able to increase either your health, force or strength once after you finish each stage.
You have two different characters, and they start the same and end the same, but the middle is different. Anakin is more offensive and deals more damage,he has destructive force powers, and he can buff his strength up. Obi-Wan is more of a defensive character, but he is fast and can easily deflect projectiles, not to mention,he can heal himself and hinder opponents with his force powers.
The bosses are challenging for those who face them for the first time. They follow certain patterns, and knowing those patterns is the key to victory. During certain boss battles, your character can block low and high, which adds even more strategy to it. Some parts of the game are timed, meaning that you must either survive enemy attack for some minutes,or finish the stage before your time is up.
Enemies are different and behave differently. For example, some enemies will prefer to attack from a distance, while others will just come up your way and try to smack you. Even the same enemy can wield different weapons, like, for example,a shotgun,a grenade launcher,a rifle blaster, etc.
You will get rewarded for finishing and replaying the game. Just because you found all upgrade points in all stages, that doesn't means your game is over. You can still get more upgrade points by playing on a certain different difficulty...but you will have to earn that. Not to count that there is a secret ending too. My only problem with this game is that the soundtrack is not all that it could have been. The GBA is capable of more than that. Search it up : Castlevania Circle of the Moon, and listen to the main menu song. That is what this game should have sounded like.
About the voices, well, this game is not voiced, but you still get your generic sounds for when your character takes damage,is knocked, etc. and the lightsaber sounds are pretty cool. I'd recommend this game for anyone, since this game has a pretty forgiving learning curve, even on Jedi difficulty. If you're a fan of games like Double Dragon and Final Fight,i'd also recommend this game for you. And for all those other reviewers that say that this game is bad...well,they just haven't played it for long. I can assure you won't get bored with this game. It may be a little annoyning at times, but hey,no pain no gain. Beat'em'ups are just like that.

NOJ94'S REVIEW   noj94
This is another game I personally own, game experience online might be slightly different due to the different controls slightly rising the difficulty of game-play.
Summary: In case you didn't already figure out, this is a game based the third episode and final story of the Star Wars series. Anakin and Obi-Wan find themselves in middle of war between the Senate and the Separatists. As Anakin and Obi-Wan comes to the rescue of Palpatine, The Chancellor, who has been taken away Anakin and Obi-Wan find their rival Count Dooku. In the middle of the fight between the two heroes and the sith Obi-Wan gets knocked out forcing Anakin to fight for the rescue of The Chancellor himself. Once Anakin finally gets the upper-hand Palpatine wishes for Dooku's death. Anakin follows the orders and finishes him. Anakin's life from hereafter begins to spiral down a dark path.
Story: The story is mainly what you see on your DVD. There is a slight variation here and there and occasionally there are parts of the original story that are put into more detail in this game. For example you (as Anakin)actually go into the Jedi Temple and slay all of the young padwans in hiding, which isn't really shown in the movie. The death of the young padwans is probably the saddest and least moral part of the game and I even question whether it should have been in the game. Also, there is a part in the game that is completely an addition to the story: there is a scene in which Anakin goes on top of city's buildings to fight off droids.
Graphics:The art is similar to the original Clone Wars show they had on Cartoon Network several years ago. This could be bad for some but this form of heart did not affect my attitude toward this game very much. The graphics weren't bad but they weren't exactly wonderful either. Some enemies/droids looked fairly silly with some of the color selection.
Sound:First of all there are no voices. I'm not to terribly surprised seeing as this is a GBA game and I personally do not know of very many games that have voices, however it does make this game feel slightly...well...naked. I wanted to hear Obi-Wan's sarcasm, hear the Sidious call Order 66, I wanted to hear the scream of hatred in Anakin's voice as he burned by the volcano. However, this would be immature of me to expect this but it was an annoyance to hear computer noises for the words being displayed instead of being said. The music is Star Wars but isn't at the same time. It has the songs and such, but the way it's delivered just doesn't sit well with me.
Depth: At the beginning you are given a choice between Obi-Wan or Anakin to play (you can play both in the same file) and the difficulty; Padawan (easy), Jedi (medium), and once you complete the game on Jedi, Master (hard). So if you want to finish the game you need to go through Jedi first and then do Master. However once you defeat Master than there isn't much to do after. At the end of Master they suggest that you try to beat the game upside-down, though I found this rather funny at first I couldn't help but feel as if this was a semi-clever way to hide the fact that there is nothing to do after. They give you a multi-player choice but it's not worth your time.
This is not my top pick but if you are a fan of Star Wars you might as well add this to your collection.

Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith   justinfeena1
The official Game to the last movie of the biggest movie franchise ever.
Gameplay:
You can choose between Obi-Wan and Anakin and play 2 different ways with different levels. The fighting is very simple: you control the character and beat down droids and clones with your lightsaber and the force. You can collect points you can invest in your character's abilities. These points, bacta-tonics (energy) and force balls are the only things you can collect, the rest is just fighting.
Graphics/Level:
The graphic is very good for a GBA game and nice. The levels aren't very different and there are not very much. The enemies are made after the movie characters, of course, and look good. Unfortunately there are no real boss fights, just bigger droids.
Sound:
The music is the great music of the movies.
Conclusion:
Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith The Game for GBA is a good but short game you can play through in 1 or 2 hours, with a nice graphic and the great movie music. Unfortunately it doesn't have much to over, there's nothing to collect and your just walking through the levels and kill enemies. In the end it's a good easy game.
