Chip McCalahan in Sonic 1 Review   bombchu link
-Chip McCalahan in Sonic the Hedgehog Review-

This is a review about Chip in Sonic 1. The game is about Chip, a character that looks like a tiny human about 2/3rd the size of Sonic, he is slow, jumps low and is overall a poor character.

 -GRAPHICS- 5

not much to say about chip, except that he has three sprites standing, running sprite 1 and running sprite 2. (if you can call what he's doing running)

 -GAME PLAY- 1

The gameplay is very poor. Chip has a low jump so low that you cannot even get past the first motobug without getting a game over. No, seriously that's how bad this game is.

 -SOUND- 2

There was no added sound in this hack except chip Him mumbling when (not if, when) you get hit by the motobug, and it's annoying.

 -ADDICTIVENESS- 1

I wouldn't ever touch this game ever again, ever. There is so little content in this game.

-STORY-  2

throw a guy in Sonic 1 and see what you get. . . that's the whole story right there.

 -OVERALL- 1

This is honestly not a game you want to play, unless you don't want to take my word for it. That's fine, but you'll regret it.

I would have made this review bigger, but honestly that's really all that there is to it.

This is a hack replacing Sonic the Hedgehog with Chip McCallahan from Chips Challenge. Graphics and sound (except an irritating noise from Chip, presumably) are the same as Sonic 1. Chip can do nothing other than have weak jumping height and slow movement. He won't be able to open any television boxes, and he will die by taking damage, even if he has rings. In fact, when he takes damage, a message appears telling you to be wary of something and the level restarts, although he won't lose a life. Also, in Labyrinth Zone, Chip can't enter water at all. There is no way you can complete a level let alone the whole game, due to Chips weaknesses. If you wish to play as Chip in other levels, the level select cheat must be activated, but his level activity will be very short-lived. The thing that's really irritating is that in the first level of Green Hill Zone, Chip can't even get past the first Motobug, therefore failing the level. Motobug also has his own Sonic 1 hack and can't complete the game without cheats, but his jumping is better in comparison with Chip's, so can access more of a level. Overall this has to be ranked as one of the most frustrating and pointless Sonic hacks ever created, and personally I don't see myself playing this on a regular basis, if at all.

Chip McCallahan in Sonic the Hedgehog Game Description

Chip McCallahan in Sonic the Hedgehog is a Sonic 1 hack created by MainMemory. It replaces Sonic the Hedgehog with Chip McCallahan, the main character in Chip's Challenge. Chip can't run fast, roll or jump high, and rings do not protect him from damage. When you die, you will get one of the death messages from Chip's Challenge, and the level will restart with no decrease in your life count.
