My name is Sonic, and we're "Sonic Heroes!"   Stevie 764
Well, what would happen if characters teamed up together in groups of three and have their own troubles to deal with? [Donkey Kong face] Who knew that this game would be made? Needed to pass that up.
Sonic Heroes, a game released in 2003 that marked a newer step to 3D, now containing new gameplay mechanics and having similar gameplay and mechanics to Sonic Adventure 2. The game had gotten releases on multiple consoles and I find this amazing. Too bad it wasn't that much of a favorite from fans. But hey, look on the bright side, it made some new memes. "Shift rock YEAAH!" "Naturally!"
With that aside, lets go in.
Graphics - 10
Extreme touches on the walls and terrain everywhere. :) Patches of grass near the Seaside Hill with patterns and even extreme designs of slot machines. I'm a slight sucker for graphics, but I never care that much. The lighting on the characters in bright stages are like Super Smash Bros Melee's 12 year early HD graphics. Everything looks so technical but it's what it could look like in real life sort of. Not really anything wrong, because it is "Too cool!" *gets 2000 point bonus* The graphics are also "Naturally!" designed in interesting ways of showing off some good looking graphics of 2003, coming close to Super Smash Bros Melee in December 2001.
Sounds - 9
The sound effects "believe it" or not according to research had been mostly recycled from Sonic Adventure 2. Sonic Adventure fans would remember these exact sounds. Recycling sounds made by a company to be used in that company's future games is common. Who can forget the classic jump sound for Sonic? No one would ever. Music sounds cool though, although the music is slightly weird for kids to listen to, especially younger players below ages of 10. Guess why this is a 9? The music soundtrack that I will hate for my life is...
Casino Park... >n< Stupid music got stuck in my head for 3 years now. If I have to play through this level to get an A with a team, I would always mute the TV. Hey, it's better than not having an option to turn music off in the options settings.
Addictiveness - 7
Wanting to see the stories of teams and what is behind this game with its system of rank is actually varied over from Sonic Adventure 2 with different rank thresholds depending on the kind of level, and the team along with the mission type. You would always find yourself trying to beat the game, and then you'll see what you'll do next yourself. There's a 2 player mode if you have a friend to play with in special mini games. Collect emblems to see what they are. Also, you see the "? ? ?" Box in 1P mode? You'll never know what it is until you meet the requirements. I won't really ever be able to do so myself because of Team Dark's extreme mission difficulty.
Story - 7 when combining all team personal story ratings.
The stories for the teams are completely unique between each other.
Anyone who has played any Sonic game would know Team Sonic's plot obviously! The story for Sonic is the common plot of the Sonic games, except in this game where there is a slight addition to it, but still the same. Team Sonic has to destroy Dr. Eggman before he conquers the world in 3 days. 6/10 for Sonic.
Team Dark's story continues after Sonic Adventure 2 but Shadow gets unlocked out of his stasis by Rouge, and then Omega jumps in from the same room Shadow was in and destroys almost everything in the room and nearly gets Shadow. Shadow had mostly forgot everything, and Omega wants ultimate revenge on Dr. Eggman for apparently locking him in the room with Shadow. So he, Shadow, and Rouge team up to destroy Eggman while figuring out who Shadow really is. 7/10 for Dark's story.
Team Rose involves 2 lost animals with having one clue showing where they could have been. There is a lost chao friend named "Chocola" who was friends with Cream the Rabbit, and there's "Froggy" who Big the Cat loves so much. Big's part of the story continues after Sonic Adventure 1. Team Rose gets a 7/10 because of "Froggy!" being said in every level. That is why Big the Cat is so known in the Sonic world.
Then there is Team Chaotix. Their story has a message coming from Charmy, a bee to Vector, a crocodile with the message having a walkie-talkie and offering tons of money to save the captured victim. The team has to go through difficult missions and accomplish high-risk tasks to save the victim. 8/10 for Chaotix.
In sums of my given ratings:
(Sonic)...... 6/10
(Dark)....... 7/10
(Rose)....... 7/10
(Chaotix).. 8/10
----------28/40
Divide by 4
Actual rating: 7/10
Depth - 9
This game will take you many months, or even years to get 100% because there are 120 emblems to get, and there are a total of 140 A ranks you need to get along with the other stuff. I have played for 2 years and I am only at 98 emblems because I love speedrunning levels too much as Team Rose. But working hard at right now. I hate Team Dark's levels. 1 death on a 9 minute level and there goes your A rank. "Freaking 100 enemy missions, how do they work!?"
Difficulty - 8
The game is very hard to A rank all the missions. The reason why is that like in Sonic Adventure 2, if you die, you lose all your points, no matter where you died, even at the end of a level. Plus, to get an A with Team Dark, you need to consecutively destroy enemies and be super fast to the goal without dying. Levels like Mystic Mansion or Final Fortress show how hard the game is to 100%! Some battles are difficult, and then there's some bad shenanigans where the game cleverly hides certain things in very clever ways that you need to beat the stage, like Team Chaotix's extra BINGO Highway stage which can easily ruin your A rank.
#ThatOneVIPChip!
Overall - 8.4
This game looks and sounds amazing, has tons of variety, with possibilities of choosing which story to do whenever, and having many different ways of urging you to get everything. This game had potentional, and people have wanted a Sonic Heroes 2 sequel, just like if there were to be a Sonic Adventure 3, or a Kirby Air Ride 2 sequel to the original.
Now for some extras and my personal thoughts of Sonic Heroes:
First off, one of my favorite game quotes of all time comes from this game. If Vector is selected on Team Chaotix just when the first Team Battle vs Dark is completed or before killing Team Dark, Vector will say, "Before picking a fight, better know who you're up against!" The way Vector says it is amazing and what made me love the line.
The rating for this game is a little controversial for me because being an E game for 6+ age people, this game has many instances or saying "die" being said by Espio and Shadow, and also many times where the word, "death" is often said by Espio. Then, there's an instance where finding the 1-up area in Ocean Palace as Team Rose where the phrase, "Oh my god!" is said if Amy gets to talk. Same thing in the final stage. I really think SEGA should've checked the dialogue because I think this game would be E10+ for weird music and mostly dialogue even though there's no swearing, but "die" and "death" we're censored in Nintendo games back in the 80's and early 90's.
The characters talk a whole lot, and way too much, being more words than necessary.
Also, this game had made quite some memes. Examples include:
"Shift, rock, YEAAAH!" - Knuckles
"Leave it to me!" - Tails
The Seaside Denied music video
"Froggy!" - Big
Now for my own memes:
"Naturally!" - Shadow's 800 point bonus
"This is the ultimate power! *activates team blast* CHAOS CONTROL!" - Shadow's 2000 point bonus + activating Chaos Inferno
Then there are glitches. Thankfully, even though this game is said to be broken, you will never, I repeat, never have a glitch happen on first play through unless you have heard of the glitch or you get unlucky. The game is more broken than both Sonic Adventure games though.
Now, I think this game should've gotten like, a sequel in a way. Millions of people demanded a sequel, although it's never going to happen. Even after 11 years, no such sequel has ever been made. But more game depth in Sonic Heroes would've been nice offering special surprises like in both previous Sonic Adventure but with other stuff you could do besides revealing the ? ? ?'s meaning.
Also, fun fact that isn't currently confirmed: The game will delete your save file if the play time goes past 100 hours. There's one source I read a year ago that is long gone not exactly confirming that it deletes the file. I'd hate to lose a 100% file to that, or even a 100/120 emblem file having to redo everything that took months!
Well, that's all! :D Whew! I need a break from all that typing!

SAWNIK HEROOOOESSSS - Sonic Heroes Review   Lexatom
Sonic Heroes was developed by Sonic Team and published by Sega. It was released on the Gamecube, Xbox, PC, and PlayStation 2, making it the first game in the series to release on multiple platforms. It was first released in the PAL regions on December 5, 2003. The rest of the world didn't get it until around New Year's. I know a lot of people that regard Sonic Heroes as their favorite entry in the series, but I also know a lot of people who hate Sonic Heroes. In this review you're obviously going to find my stance on the game.
Graphics - 9
Like with a lot of Sonic games, they tend to have awesome graphics for the time of their release, and this game is no exception. The opening cutscenes look like they were made by Pixar and I absolutely love them. It's a shame those types of cutscenes didn't always happen. Sometimes you'd get the weird looking cutscenes that have the characters looking like they're spazzing out. The graphics during gameplay are also very clean, specifically the character models. There are times when a texture seems iffy, but most of the time I don't seem to recognize it.
Sound - 9
The Sonic series is famous for it's amazing soundtrack and Sonic Heroes has one of my favorite soundtracks in the series. You got well known songs such as Seaside Hill, Frog Forest, Egg Fleet, and one of my favorite songs of all time, What I'm Made Of. I love every single piece of music in this game and I remember going to the sound test and just sitting there and listening to the music. The reason this section is not a 10 is because of how annoying the sound effects can get. I'm mostly talking about the fact that every action you do has the character saying something, most of the time I don't even know what they're saying. I hear a lot of complaints about how they never stop talking, but that doesn't bother me too much. In fact, I'm glad they talk a lot. I dunno, it makes the experience better for me.
Addictiveness - 8
Even though I died countless times throughout the game, I kept on playing until I either beat the level or got a game over. I usually stop playing something the moment it pisses me off, but this game is an exception. I have no idea why. I like the fact that each character has their own special trait and the game manages to merge that into one. You got Speed, Fly, and Power. Certain obstacles will get in your way that only certain characters can get through. Sometimes there are obstacles in which any character can get through so you can just pick who you want. The great level design is another thing that keeps me coming back. This game has some of the best level design I've ever seen, and it never bores me.
Story - 7
Some people find the story all complicated and stuff. Others find it lacking in story. I find it to be just right in the middle. In the beginning of the game there is seemingly no story, no matter which team you chose. Each team has a different opening cutscene and thus has a different main goal throughout the storyline. Team Sonic gets a message from Eggman basically saying "lol I'm evil come get me" and they go find him. Team Dark probably has my favorite goal in the game just because Shadow is there. Oh right, Shadow. For those of you who don't know,
Shadow "died" at the end of Sonic Adventure 2.
This game is sort of like a sequel to that game chronologically, so fans were surprised when they saw Shadow. Rouge goes into a place or something and finds Shadow and Omega. Shadow doesn't remember anything and Omega is a robot built by Eggman but Eggman sealed him in the room because I dunno. Eggman is dumb. Rouge gets them to stop fighting and they form a team and each strive to reach their goal. Shadow wants to find out about his past, Omega wants revenge on Eggman, and Rouge is just...there. Team Rose each have different goals. Amy wants to find Sonic, Big wants to find Froggy, (surprise kill me) and Cream wants to find Cheese's brother or something, Chocola. Team Chaotix is a detective agency and they get a guy on walkie talkie that promises to give them money if they finish their goal. Eventually, each of the stories meet at the same endpoint and once you collect all the chaos emeralds and finish each story, the last story is unlocked, where you find out who is behind everything. I love it to death and I was not at all expecting the ending. Sure, it gets boring at times, but the end makes it all worth it.
Depth - 8
Like with most Sonic games, Sonic Heroes has these things called emblems. You get emblems by finishing various levels and missions. Each level has two different missions that varies by team. Team Sonic's second mission is to reach the goal before time runs out. Team Dark's second mission is to destroy 100 enemies. Team Rose's second mission is to collect 200 rings. Team Chaotix's second mission varies depending on the level played. If you get all A ranks, get all the emblems, and have finished the game, you unlock Hard Mode. I have no idea what Hard Mode is like since I have never gotten that far but I imagine it's hard.
Difficulty - 8
I'm going to be honest here. I don't know if I just suck or what, but I die in this game a lot. I'm surprised I managed to actually beat this game. The levels are pretty easy until at least the 4th area. Then it starts getting harder and harder each time you finish a level. And I lvoe how they layed out the difficulty. This is how difficulty in a game should be layed out. It's perfect. The only thing I found unfair was the chaos emerald chases. I always thought that you had to repeatedly press B to go fast and reach the emerald. However, the game never tells you that you just have to HOLD IT. Holding the B button makes you go even faster then tapping it. That was my fault for being an idiot.
Overall - 8.3
Sonic Heroes is a very solid entry in the franchise, and I like it. Some people say this is when the series started going downhill until Colors came out, but I have to disagree with them. That would be Sonic 2006. This game MIGHT land in my top 5 games in the franchise, but if not then easily would make the top 10. Just give it time and hopefully it'll start to grow on you.

Behold my Neenja Power!   Snu
Teamwork is actually a pretty valuable life skill. With all of the single player campaigns and free for all battles that go on in games and movies, it can be easy to forget that two or even three people can get more done than one.
That's why games that allow for multiple people to play through the story at once can be more memorable. You have someone to share memories, victories, and even losses with.
Sonic Heroes may only have a single player story mode, but it still does bring an emphasis on the super power of teamwork (and the super power of cheesy writing)! But does this emphasis work in the game's favour? Let's find out! Time to crack this game wide open! Yeah!
~A little more variety is needed~
First off, the Gamecube version of this game looks the best. The game looks pleasing enough and the textures are somewhat sharp, though not as sharp as they have been in the past. The character models are noticeably polygonal and awkwardly shiny (though not as bad as it is in Shadow the Hedgehog) and there are otherwise no graphical glitches.
You may not see much of it, but the water in particular is very well done, especially compared to the Playstation 2 and XBOX versions.
However, as for palette themes, I feel like there could have been a bit more variety. I suppose every two stages are supposed to be their own 'zone' of sorts, but the stages blend together too much when they use the same assets and textures. About the only exceptions to this are Egg Fleet/Final Fortress, and Hang Castle/Mystic Mansion where the textures and setting and such vary enough that they feel different from each other, if only a bit.
~Rockin' around at the speed of sound~
Sonic Heroes has just the type of music you've come to expect from the franchise: catchy Rock tunes with a bit of synthesizer mixed in here and there for a slight techno feel.
While each stage obviously has their own theme, each 'zone', as I put it, still has their own unique feel to them. For instance, if you were to listen to say, Mystic Mansion and Haunted Castle, you'd notice that while both songs are different from each other, they still share a spooky, halloween type of feel. No other 'zone' has the same 'genre' as any other zone, which is always appreciated.
As for the voice acting, it's nothing all that special really. Some voices are cringe worthy (Hello, Cream), but as a whole, the voice acting is neither out right terrible, nor great. It's just sort of there.
~Addicting =/= Repetition~
If you have heard any bashing or criticism of Sonic Heroes, chances are it was about it's addictiveness.
The thing with Sonic Heroes, is that you have four slightly different teams to play around with. The problem with this is that all the teams play almost exactly the same way, and go through all of the same stages.
This reminds me a bit of Shadow the Hedgehog, though on a lower scale, since in order to beat this game you need to play through every team's story mode (Read: All 15 or so stages 4 different times). This makes the story mode feel too monotonous to finish in one or two sittings, which is a bit of a problem.
Aside from Story Mode, there's only two other options. Challenge Mode (Which we'll get into next section), and Versus mode. Versus Mode is fun and has many different unlockable modes, but you'd better hope you have somebody to play them with, or it isn't really worth looking into.
~Depth~
At first glance, Sonic Heroes may seem deep with the multitude of teams and characters but the characters are easily categorized into Speed, Power and Flying. Each team has one of each, and every type can do their own thing. Speed types are (too) fast and can use tornados to spin up poles. They can also use the homing attack to bounce from enemy to enemy (this can get a little buggy sometimes.)
Flying types can... well... fly. They are also super slow and their specialty is attacking airborne enemies and stunning them. That's about it.
Power types can break down walls, use fans to float up and attack certain enemies other characters can't put a dent in. Any other characteristics not mentioned aren't shared by all characters of a class.
Besides characters, the game also has a nifty little level up system. Each character can be levelled up 3 times per stage. Levelling characters up increases their power for that stage. You can level them up by either hitting a checkpoint, finding blue, yellow or red orbs, or using Team Rose's Team Blast.
Finally, each team (Chaotix, Sonic, Dark, and Rose) has a screen clearing attack called a Team Blast.
This probably seems like a lot reading all of this but it really isn't once you start playing.
There's also a Challenge mode where you can do special missions to get emblems but these are ultimately pointless unless you really like the multiplayer.
~4 Stories, 1 True Ending, No depth~
Since Sonic Heroes has 4 teams to choose from, it's only common sense that there's 4 different stories to go through. None of them amount to much though.
Team Sonic's plot can be summed up as such: Sonic is off running around when Tails and Knuckles come up and inform him of a challenge from Eggman: Find and stop me in 3 days before I unleash the ultimate weapon, if you can! Can Team Sonic stop him in time?
Team Rose's story is essentially Amy, Big and Cream are on a hunt for their friends Froggy, Chocola, and Sonic. That's... really it.
Team Chaotix's story follows as such: It's another slow day at the Chaotix Detective Agency. At least, it is until Charmy Bee brings in a mysterious package containing a walkie talkie. This walkie talkie offers a handsome reward for their services. Not one to turn down money, the group heads off to do whatever the walkie talkie tells them. Who could their mysterious client be?
Team Dark’s story is probably the most complex (Though that isn’t saying very much). Basically, Rouge the Bat is on a hunt for Eggman’s fabled treasure and sneaks into one of his bases. Instead however, she finds Shadow the Hedgehog in a tube and an old E-100 robot, Omega guarding him. Upon her releasing Shadow, The robot and hedgehog begin tearing the base apart before Rouge stops them. It’s then revealed that Omega was locked here against his will and now wants revenge on Eggman, and that Shadow has no recollection of who he once was. So, the three form a team to hunt Eggman down for treasure, revenge and answers.
If you complete all four stories and get 7 chaos emeralds (Gotten by going through special stages) then you unlock Last Story, which brings a conclusion to all four stories and gives out an ‘epic’ final battle.
Serviceable enough, but nothing as deep as some may be used to from Sonic Adventure 1 and 2.
~ Crazy inconsistent difficulty~
This game is honestly a bit difficult to base on difficulty, because every team acts as their own difficulty for the most part. Team Rose is Easy Mode, Team Sonic is Normal Mode, and Team Dark is Hard Mode. Team Chaotix acts as a sort of ‘Challenge Mode’ where the goal isn’t usually to get to the end of the goal, but to do something or find a certain amount of x. These can range anywhere from mind-numbingly easy or frustratingly tedious and hard in a bad way.
I will say that even playing through the supposed ‘Hard’ mode of the game, it was honestly pretty easy. Not much difference from Team Sonic except more enemies.
The final boss isn’t particularly tough either. Maybe a little tedious if you don’t use glitches, but not really hard at all.
~Extras~
-The Special Stages. They control like utter crud. If you have trouble with these things I’d suggest using the power character and holding the boost button instead of tapping it like crazy. Shame the game doesn’t explain this very well.
+Every zone has their own gimmick that doesn’t get repeated in order to keep the gameplay from getting too stale.
*This game definitely has glitches. Some bad, some good. The rail grinding in particular is bad. Sometimes you will try to switch the rail you’re grinding on only to go flying off the edge and to your doom.
- The control for this game in general is pretty bad. Better than Shadow, but not by much. Characters slip slide all over the place and chances are, you’re going to have a lot of deaths simply by accidentally running off the edge.
Overall, I’m more than satisfied giving this game a 7. It’s not the best the Gamecube has to offer, but it is better than some make it out to be.

Sonic Heroes: 3 players, at the same time.   pacman1755
Ah, Sonic Heroes. I remember playing this when I was a kid, to the very end of the disc's life, after it tragically ended when the disc got way to scratched up, and was deemed unplayable, and had to throw it out, and haven't played it until recently, thankfully. Now, that I went through the game again after so many years of mainly away of the game for at least 10 or so years.
Difficulty: 7
The difficulty in this game can vary depending on which story arch that you go through. There's Team Sonic, which goes through the basic game that you'll go through, which I guess is Normal, Team Dark, which has some challenging boss battles in a more extreme environment, which can be the Hard path, Team Rose, which has the shortest adventure, and only goes as far as following Sonic's team, which is basically the Easy pathway, and finally there is Team Chaotix, which has a unique pair of challenges. Instead of going from Point A to Point B, you will go through the entire level in a challenge type of envioronment, whether it is to find an object, detroy all the robots, or what have you, this is a Task type of environment, which can be pretty challenging, since I use to never beat this area as a kid, when I'd get stuck in a loop in the level. Then there's the final area, which we all know is always tough final challenge. So the Difficulty can vary.
Story: 7
There's a LOT of different Story arcs in this game, so let me explain every arch, depending on which group you choose. Team Sonic goes through the same old thing, Sonic has received a note from Dr. Eggman that invites him, and the Sonic Heroes to stop him from taking over the world, creating Robotnikland, and Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles have to stop him as fast as possible. Team Dark starts with Rouge going through a secret area that Eggman hid away, which includes Shadow the Hedgehog, who was killed off in Sonic Adventure 2, previously, being released from what seems to be a glass tube that holds him in, and a rebellious robot created by Eggman named E-123 Omega, who swares revenge on Eggman for locking him away for so long. Now the group will go and fight Eggman, while Shadow tries to remember who he really is, as he has amnesia. Team Rose starts with Amy Rose hanging out with his friends Cream the Bunny, with her chao Cheese, and Big the Cat. They decide to team up to go hunt down whoever kidnapped Froggy and Choco the Chao. Nothing to do with Eggman. Team Chaotix is a team ran by Vector the Crocodile, Espio the Chameleon, and Charmy Bee. They go on an anonymous person contacting them via radio and tell them to go off into tasks for big money. They comply, and they go off into their adventure for the money they need. No Eggman hunting.
Addictiveness: 5
The addictiveness charm isn't that strong here, since you have to play the game a total of FOUR times to get the final ending that you need to complete. It can get very tiring after you beat the game even once, and that really kills the experience of trying to 100% the game, and it sucks, but you are playing the EXACT same levels over and over again. There's very little difference in each group you play as. Same level design, same bosses, same character battles, and after a while, it becomes a chore to play. But! The worst is game's chaos emerald minigames, and they absolutely suck. The mechanics of the games is to get to the emerald before time runs out, and you have to absorb speed hightening balls to get to it, and the physics just suck. It's one of the worst in the entire Sonic Franchise.
Sound: 7
The sounds consist of music in each area of the game, voices for each character, and sound effects for each action. The music is pretty dang good. Especially Seaside Hill, the first level of the game. It's pretty catchy music, and it's a joy to listen to alone as well. The rest of the game's music has a pretty cool atmospheric soundtrack as well. From the beach, to the casino, to the jungle, to Eggman's fortress, it's pretty cool to listen, and it fits pretty well. As for the voices, I'm not too keen on some of them, and they say stuff when you do actions with them, especially the power characters like Knuckles, it can get pretty annoying, but besides that, the Sounds of the game is great.
Graphics: 8
The looks of the game's graphics as Character models are concerned, they look pretty shiny at times, but overall they are as good as it gets for Gamecube standards. The bulk of this rating goes to the design of the levels, as they did a good job detailing everything you go through. It's quite something to look at. Especially area like the jungle, where everything pops out in a good way. I enjoy it. Besides that, you can't really say much for the Gamecube standards. Sure, it's pretty to look at, but this is mid-2000s kind of graphics, and a Sonic game, so I can be easily wow'd by what most can expect from it. It's cool, but that's about it.
Overall: 8
The game overall, not a bad game. Would I want you to go out there and buy it? For the right price, I would. It's a fun game for what it's worth, and the 100% completion has the same reward as what you'd expect from a Sonic game. A final boss with Super Sonic. So, with that said, go out there, and have fun with all the heroes. At your own risk. If you do buy it, hey, I won't stop you, if you're a fan of the Sonic Franchise, go nuts. I know I would.

Sonic and friends all team up to stop robotnik!   RedHotToddy
Ah, I got to tell you guys something, And It Is about sonic the hedgehog! What Is It that I want to tell you about him? I want to tell you guys on vizzed board that I absolutely LOVE sonic the hedgehog, I personally think that each sonic the hedgehog game after the last Is fun, fast, challenging, and just overall fun to play! I have already reviewed a majority of His games on the vizzed board, And I think all of this Is nearly starting to come to a huge conclusion! But now let's get onto one of my favorite sonic games next to Sonic adventure 2 battle! What Is this game? You are about to find out! This Is Sonic heroes for the Nintendo gamecube!
Story-7/10
As always, This game takes place after the events of the last game, In this case sonic adventure 2. But anyways! After sonic and shadow's epic final battle with biolizard In space, Our two heroes need some rest. In fact, sonic and all of his friends are having problems! First we'll start with sonic tails and knuckles, Sonic is running the canyon one day when tails and knuckles catch up with him via plane, they give him a letter from robotnik saying that he has developed a weapon to destroy the world in three days. Now to shadow rouge and E-101 omega, Rouge Is looking for a treasure when she then finds shadow In a capsule and E-101 omega shut down by robotnik, Shadow has lost his memory and rouge Is holding against robotnik, So they all set out to stop him! Amy cream and big the cat are currently on the lookout for cream's chao chocola and big's friend froggy. Lastly we investigate vector espio and charmy the bee, Who have recently received a walkie-talkie who wants to hire them, Since these guys never dinie work they get payed for, The team accepts! So will everyone finally have their problems solved? Let's find out shall we?
Gameplay-8/10
This adventure plays differently from the last game, But It is for the better! But anyways, This is a 3D action platformer where you control sonic and his friends through big levels defeating enemies, collecting rings and items, And running really fast! Controls in the game are simple, You use the control stick to move, A to jump, B to attack, and X and Y to switch between characters. This game's newest feature Is to play as three characters each with their own special attributes and abilities, Speed Flight and Power. There are four teams In the game total, Team sonic with sonic tails and knuckles, Team dark with Shadow rouge and E-101 omega, Team rose with Amy cream and big, And team chaotix with Vector espio and charmy. You'll be collecting tons of items In your quest, Such as rings, extra lives, shields, and so on! Returning once again Is the rank and emblem system, Depending on how you did In the level, You'll be rewarded with An A B C D or E rank, So try your best to earn an A! And as for emblems, Each level and challenge you complete earns you an emblem which can then unlock stuff like mini-games and such. Sonic and his friends will be defeating tons of enemies in their quest, Such as robots, G.U.N soldiers. Troopers, and so on. Now to puzzles combat powers and abilities, The speed member of a group can run, spin dash, light dash, and speed up poles. The power member can break obstacles and destroy enemies with their super strength. Lastly, flight members can fly up places and such. Bosses In the game are pretty cool as well! You fight hawks, albatrosses, and other cool creations from robotnik! Anyways, That Is It for the gameplay!

Sonic heroes was released In early 2004, January to be exact, And even 11 or so years later, This Is actually one of the prettiest and just most dazzling sonic games I have played In a while! From the level design to the characters, It Is all really good! As with the last game, You'll take sonic and the gang through big vast and really bright cartoony levels that you would expect from a Saturday Morning cartoon, You'll take them through the beach, You'll take them through the casino, You'll take them through the jungle, You'll take them through an air fleet, and many other places! The levels are all pretty fun as well, They all offer tons to do and alot to explore through, Mostly the casino which has a big pinball section! And That Is fun! Now let's get to the character models, The thing I noticed about this game Is just how shiny all the characters look! Not that It Is a bad thing, But still, Sonic still looks really blue, Tails still looks really bright and yellow, Knuckles Is still present with his big fists and nice red coat of paint, And all the other characters are pretty good too! The HUD in the game Is pretty self explanatory ONCE again, It shows your score in the level, How much time you have wasted, how many rings you have, Your team members, and If you have a key Or not, I will get Into that last part Later. Lastly, Cutscenes! They are all beautifully animated and have really good voice acting and such, And they are all pretty fun to watch!
Sound-8/10
As always, Sega never ever fails to disappoint with the amazing bright cartoony and just awesome soundtrack Of sonic's adventures, And this Is really no exception! The game now features once again another new song from the amazing band crush 40, Sonic heroes! Sing It with me guys, Sonic heroes! Sonic heroes! What comes up must come down, Never fear to touch the ground! I think those are the lyrics, But still, amazing song! Now the actual soundtrack, It Is once again Like you would expect from A sonic game, It Is pretty bright, cartoony, happy, catchy, and It Has never gotten repetitive at all for me! From the coastal seas of seaside hill where you start your adventure to the stormy air fleet of robotnik, The songs never fail to fit the mood of the respective levels! Now for the sound effects, You know what to expect guys! We get tons of chimes from collecting the rings, Boings from jumping on?that very spring, Booms from destroying those powerful robots, and well, You guys know what to expect! They are all amazing and awesome to hear! Lastly, the voice acting! Once again, Returning Is Ryan drummond as sonic, Connor bringeas as tails, Scott drier as knuckles, Deem bistrow as Robotnik, And tons of other amazing and enjoyable voices! Also, Please note that this Is the final game to feature Ryan drummond as Sonic and Deem bistrow as eggman, For as Ryan most presumably retired and Deem bistrow died for some reason, I still miss him alot though! Anyways, That Is It for the sound!
Addictiveness-9/10
I have always seen this game as one of the more fun cartoony and just original sonic games, And here are a couple of reasons why! Well to start off, The team system, And Boy Is It fun man! It Is such a breeze swaping between characters on the fly to take advantage of their unique abilites and solve puzzles and such! And second, The amount of stuff the game has for you to do, This game Is very big you know! There are over 120 emblems to collect, Over 4 unique stories to play through and complete, and Tons of other stuff to do! And that Is why I have always found this game as my favorite! Also, It Is once again finishing some levels that you think you can't finish, Such as the pesky team dark levels, Just finishing team dark's lost jungle level after 1000 or so deaths just felt so rewarding! Darn you crocodile! But oh well, what to expect guys? Just enjoy the game regardless of anything else!
Depth-9/10
As I have addressed In the last section, The game Is really really big and offers plenty of stuff to do and see! Well Let's start shall we? To start there are about 4 different stories To play through In this game, Each story logging In about 1-3 hours, and Like every other sonic game after this There Is an epic final story to finish off the game In A very epic fashion! Now to the amount of emblems, There are about 120 of them split through about 40-50 different levels, And finishing all of that rewards you with super hard mode, Which Is a very hard and irritating version of the game, And finishing this mode just feels so rewarding! Lastly, This game does have a multiplayer mode to It! With a friend, You can pick a team, choose a playing mode, And Just have fun! There Is a battle mode, A racing mode, And tons of other modes that I forgot about, No worries though! I'll remember myself later!
Difficulty-6/10
This game Isn't really that Hard If you look at It from here, But I forgot to mention This In the gameplay section, But each of the many stories In this game are targeted at a specific audience, The team sonic levels are targeted at players who have had plenty of experience with games before this game, The team dark levels are very very difficult and are aimed at the more intermediate players who enjoy challenge, The team rose levels are aimed at beginner players who don't really play that much of video games, And lastly, The team chaotix levels are mission based and will most likely attract the attention Of more advanced players. Some levels and bosses too can give you some trouble, Like the hang castle or the egg emperor, But It Is Sega, So what to expect guys? But If you can get over that, Then the game shouldn't really give you that much of a hard time, I mean really, We play video games not only to have fun and be entertained, But to be challenged and experienced!
Overall-8.9/10
If I were you, I would totally buy this game regardless If you are a fan of the classics or not! But anyways, Let's get to the score! I gave this game an 8.9 because It Is original, Fun, challenging, long, filled with depth and over sorts of stuff to do, And It brings sonic back to His roots without changing anything that the sonic games will always maintain! So anyways, This Has been RedHotToddy's 128th review, and well, see you guys later! I am just two reviews Away from achieving My somewhat main goal, And I want to thank some of my close friends on the vizzed board! Barathemos and Razor-987, They have always loved my reviews and commented nice things about them which encourage me even more to keep making them! But as we were saying, Bye guys! I hope you guys will still keep up with my reviews because each one after the last just gets bigger and bigger and filled with more and more details and such! But anyways, Bye guys! See you later! I love you all! I am not joking about that!
