Nintendogs Review   Mechbones
Hello everyone! I got a review of Nintendogs today! Nintendogs is a simulation game where you get to take care of your own pet dog. This is my first review (at least, in text) so if you have pointers for any future reviews, please let me know!
Graphics: 7
This graphics in this game look as if you are taking care of real dogs. Looking at the game now, though, I see that the graphics aren't as good as, say, Mario Party DS. I have always loved how the dogs looked on my DS.
Sound: 8
The sound on this game is really good, but it's not the best you can get on this system. In fact, it's just some barking and some car noises (I think it might take place in a city). If you can get your hands on a record, you can get background music, and there is background music in buildings.
Addictiveness: 6
Nintendogs is a fun game to play, although it can get a little repetitive at times, and sometimes there is nothing for you to do in the game except watch the dogs and play with the same toys you had for a long time. But, I always find myself coming back to this game. It just has a little charm to it that just makes it a worthwhile way of passing the time.
Depth: 4
Like I said, this game can get kinda repetitive. The only way to get new stuff is by walking your dog, and you can get some of the same stuff you already had. There is a little contest spot on the game which allows for you to compete after some serious training, but the only one I find fun is the agility trial, and training for that can get old.
Difficulty: 3
This game is not hard at all to play, but I gave this a 3 because I decided to consider the contests, the only part of the game that is at all challenging, although this game isn't meant to be difficult. Also consider, you have to figure out how to teach your dog new tricks, which then it can be difficult to get your dog to redo the trick. Also, consider, you have the option to call your dog with your voice... but don't try it. It's really irritating. I find that, say, yesteryear you adopt a dog and give it a name. It works for a few weeks, but after some time of not playing, or not calling him/her, it won't respond to it's name. So, basically, don't use it. It doesn't work well.
Overall: 8.3
While I would never call this a bad game, it has some flaws in it, and it's not too addicting. It works as a way to pass the time. My only real complaint is the voice recognition. It does NOT work properly at all! This game has a TON of redeeming factors, so it makes this game VERY worthwhile to get, but only if you LOVE dogs. If you're not too fond of dogs, this game isn't really for you, but if you LOVE dogs, by all means, GET THIS! I have always loved this game ever since I've heard of it! I would recommend this over the newer Nintendogs+Cats, which is the same game, but with cats and in 3D. I am very fond of the graphics in this game, much more fond of it here than in the newer ones.
