Kung Fu Panda for the Xbox 360, a rather underated game VideogamemanX
Kung Fu Panda, was a pretty good movie by Dreamworks to be honest, wait, pretty good? That movie was awesome! It was quite a unique concept, even though the twist that the "legendary hero" is stupid, has been done to death a lot of times. The movie was incredible, it actually had some well developed characters and storyline. Kung Fu Panda's success was, according to many, partially replicated in the video game market, I can totally agree with that, in only one territory... The handheld video games, the Kung Fu Panda game on the DS, was pretty boring, to be honest, but on the Xbox 360... It was a tremendous difference, because this game on the Xbox 360 was mind-blowing!
Graphics: 10
I'm giving the game a 10 on the graphics, because I really like how much detail was put into many things in the game, even the characters look polished, just like they did in the movie. Even the locations in the movie were well created, it seems they did take their time on making the game, very respectful stuff, Activision.
Sound: 5
Well, it's not really one of the strongest points in the game, as it didn't really had memorable music, actually it barely had music. So most of the time you will only hear the sound effects.
Addictiveness: 8
I'm not sure on this one, the game did had some of it flaws, actually all it had was one, quicktime events. I really despise, this "feature" as the game might as well been an RPG, actually what is the point of quicktime events!? They just don't do any good, in gameplay, and may I remind you that this game is a beat em up! It just bothers the heck out of me, I want to do the action! Why does the game have to do it for me!? Even worse one level in the game, was one big quicktime event!
Story: 6
I'm really mixed with this one, but let me explain. The movie, had some scenes of action, but not a lot, and since this is a game, it has to be pretty big, so some things had to be made such as adding stuff that wasn't in the movie, but maybe this "other stuff" was from the other movie, or rather spin-off. I am reffering to the Secrets of the Furious Five movie, but I haven't seen that movie, so I don't know. However, the game, did still have some of the key scenes of the movie, honestly, this was a smart move by Activision, to slightly expand the length of the game.
Depth: 4
I said slightly, because this game is very short. Very short. Even on the Dragon Warrior difficulty which I think is Hard, I finished the game in 3 or 4 hours. Or maybe, I am pro? I don't know, to me it felt short, but I understand this, because this is a movie based game, sometimes the source material is big and sometimes it is small...
Difficulty: 1
Like I said even on the hard difficulty this game was very easy. Sure I died a lot of times, but none of the parts of the game, felt like it was the game's fault.
Overall: 8.3
Even though it had some flaws, the game is still very good. So good, that if there was ever an example on how to create a movie based game, I would use this game as an example! The game is not perfect, but it has a charm. Dare I say it felt like Banjo-Kazooie, because the game happens to be a collectathon. This is one game, I would recommend, for any player. Well I guess there are some good games on the Xbox 360...
