Anything to increase the site activity at this point. If this doesn't work then I don't know what will.

Happy Birthday! I really miss those days when we had time to chat here often and goof around with all of our friends. I'm very thankful that you were always there for me as well. I wish I had more free time to be more active here, and also wish this community was more active again. But I'm very grateful that you're still with this community, and many of our friends are too. I can't believe we've been here since we were only like 14.

Sorry if this is very brief/rushed, I'm cramming really hard for a deadline right now, but I always got discord open for you and all of our friends.

TouchMaster97 : This should work for most (if not all) MAME games. You just have to rename the "cheyenne.ini" file to "(your game ROM name).ini" where (your game ROM name) is the name of the ROM of the game you're trying to play. The rest of the instructions should be the same.

The inside of the .ini file is general settings for all MAME games, but the file name tells the .ini file which game ROM it should apply to. That's why it must be renamed to the game you want to play, but the inside of the .ini file is fine for most games as they're general MAME settings.

The name of the ROM won't be exactly the same as the title of the game, but you can find the ROM name in the game's edit page. The "edit page" link is on the left side of every RGR page, click it and find the ROM name. (but don't actually edit anything, just find the ROM name field)

I'm not sure if you have access to the edit page or ROM name as non-staff, so you can just link me the URL of the game(s) and I'll be happy to tell you what to rename the .ini file(s) to.

Let me know if it works.

(I'm assuming the bumping rule is long gone now. Anyway....)

I certainly hope this becomes a much higher priority to take care of because this makes the site look much more confusing, restrictive, uninviting, and unorganized to newbies. (at least when the restricted forums become more active which is gonna happen fairly often, so it's pretty bad)

It looked much better on my end once I got promoted to site staff, but it still annoyed me when I was an Elite. Considering Elite is the highest non-staff rank yet it still annoyed me at the time... That's very bad. (it'd be so much worse for newbies)

I logged out of my account and tried to view the new posts as a guest out of curiosity and this is what it looks like:

To me, I wouldn't mind as I understand what's going on. But a new user would feel uninvited, confused, and the extra spacing is ugly. I might sound like I'm exaggerating, but this is waaay worse for a newbie. Any page that looks ugly/uninviting to a new guest/user... They'll click away to another website and never come back. Newbie retention is extremely important to keep vizzed alive. (heh, no white banner winner last time) That's why I'm emphasizing this issue.

I also don't understand what people pointed out about private rented forums. To your perspective, a staff forum doesn't annoy you because perhaps you can see it (while maybe a private rented forum doesn't show so it annoys you), but to a newbie, both the private rented forum and the staff forums are equally annoying. And the staff forums have many more private threads than the very few private rented forums anyway.

I don't imagine the coding being very hard since it's just that if it's "private forum", just completely hide the row instead of displaying useless space. But I could be completely wrong of course, I'm no PHP expert. (I only know Java/Python very well)

My apologies if I sound rude, but I just feel like this is somehow a bigger issue than it looks because of newbie retention.

It's not only you. In fact, I think everyone's profile is very messed up. Everyone appears to have your same exact friends list, reverse friends list, referrals, no profile comments, post layouts, etc (On each person's end, only your own profile looks mostly normal). Something strange is going on. Maybe Davideo7 is working on something right now. It'd be concerning though if it just happened randomly. Maybe we should message Davideo7 on discord?

Sorry for the delay, new tech support (me & tgags123) just got hired recently. I'll check out the remaining problems here soon and see if I have a solution/suggestion. But for now...

TouchMaster97 : Try out my solution here, it has worked for someone else: https://www.vizzed.com/boards/thread.php?id=98094&ppp=20&page=0#1322170

Let me know if it works. The .ini (config) file in step 1 probably has to be renamed to another filename depending on the game. What game are you trying to play?

Unfortunately, it can not work with the RGR plugin because Super Don Quixote is known to not work with MAME and the plugin depends on MAME. (in this case)

Instead, you'll have to try out the DAPHNE emulator. (not related and not part of the plugin on this site)

Source: emulation.gametechwiki.com/index.php/Arcade_LaserDisc_emulators

(copy/paste URL)

Here's a bit of gameplay footage on the DAPHNE emulator to help confirm that it could work with DAPHNE: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PAZEqBp90Ak

However, I will post here again if I am able to get it to the work with the RGR plugin in the future. Please let me know if you have questions! (and also feel free to correct me if I'm wrong)

EDIT: It appears retroarch might work with Daphne laserdisc https://www.reddit.com/r/miniSNESmods/comments/9crsvx/retroarch_174_nand_users_rejoice_coreshmods_75/

The web version of the RetroArch emulator is available on this site, but this game still doesn't work for me. So I got some more playing around to do. However, that Reddit post is for the SNES classic version, so I'll have to investigate if it also applies to the web version which this site uses. For now, I recommend looking into DAPHNE.

Divine Aurora : It shouldn't do that. It doesn't seem to do that for me. What web browser are you using? I'm using Chrome.

The background is supposed to have animated flickering stars, but you're saying the background goes completely black for a second? Anyone else seeing this issue with my layout? I'm so glad I posted here lol

Divine Aurora : Ah yes, good old times. lol

I think once you figure out how to center that, it should look good. I also wonder if making the text box bigger might be better, but that's probably not a big issue. But for stuff like reviews/walkthroughs/long posts/posts with pictures, you might want to consider disabling the layout I think. (unless you can make the text box bigger enough) I wouldn't worry too much about it though.

Also, anyone seeing my post, please feel free to give suggestions/feedback about my layout!
