I'll admit, Pichu is the cutest, but its stats are horrible. And Pikachu's aren't exactly winning stats either. That being said, Raichu's stats, while not the best, are decent enough that I like having one on my team sometimes. So, my vote goes for Raichu.

Pichu's stats suck. It is annoying, and Nintendo is stupid and releases NONEVOLVING ones in events.

Pikachu may be formidable with a Light Ball, however, it makes wet tissue paper look durable. Ambipom's Fake Out = Better than Pikachu.

Raichu isn't much better, but at least it can claim to take priority hits well and can actually deal damage to pokemon that it doesn't hit super effectively (And if you can find a pokemon that resists Tbolt + Surf + Grass Knot + HP Fire, well... you lie.)

As far as who I like better:
Pichu for cuteness but Raichu for battling (after getting whatever moves I need from its lower forms).
Even with a Light Ball Pikachu is only 10 points stronger in Sp Attack then Raichu, and Raichus higher Attack, Speed, Defense, and Sp Defense more then make up for that.

Actually, Light Ball boosts attack so that Pikachu can use Volt Tackle.

Doesn't change the fact that Pikachu sucks and can't take a priority hit to save it's life.

Meh, I missed one of the new things about Light Ball: Starting in Generation IV, it also doubles the Attack of Pikachu.
So it gets maybe 20 extra points of Attack too as compared to Raichu to make its VT a bit stronger, hardly makes a difference if it can't take a hit.
I'd rather a Raichu with a slightly weaker VT...

Actually, no, Raichu has four level up moves: thundershock, tail whip, quick attack, and thunderbolt. Whereas pikachu learns moves like thunder wave and slam (although most op pikachu's moves aren't that great, admittedly). Which is stupid, because if I want my raichu to have a good moveset, I have to teach it those moves before evolving it .

If not considering cuteness, Raichu would definitely win. howewer, Raichu isn't exactly the 'cutest', but stats make up for that weak spot, so my vote goes to Raichu, as he is the most balanced.

Again, there's still no contest. How much does Surf and Grass knot help if you can't take a hit? None at all. Raichu can take some hits (Still really frail, but at least it doesn't fear Blaziken's Vaccum wave, Ambipom's Fake out, ect. in UU) and still dish them out.

(And the light ball gives much more than 10 or 20 point boosts. It doubles the total Special attack or attack, not the Base Special attack or attack, and Raichu's base isn't much higher)

And "cute" is a stupid thing. I love how some fans claim how ugly new pokemon are, but love charizard, who is not cute in the least.

To explain:
I know it doubles the total, I said compared to Raichu's points it would only be 10-20 points higher.
You have to ignore all EVs and IVs and only work off pure base stats for comparisons like this as obviously the totals might be higher if it's a maxed EV Pikachu vs a min EV Raichu, but that isn't a fair comparison.
So Pikachu, Attack: 55 doubled is 110, Sp.Atk: 50 doubled is 100.
Raichus, Attack: 90, Sp.Atk: 90.
That's where I get a 10 or 20 point difference. 90 vs 110 and 90 vs 100.
