It snowed a lot on Thursday and Friday, so we got out of school for both of those days and Monday. We almost had to go to school today, but then both my brothers got out of school. My school only had an hour delay, but then they got complaints because buses wouldn't be running and teens driving on icy roads is a bad idea, so they ended canceling school for today as well.

Sadly, I'll probably have to go tomorrow, since almost all of the ice and snow seems to be gone now.

Yesterday was hectic. I had to condense all of my work into about 6 hours worth of being online. Since I didn't have a phone plan, I had no access to here after like 6 PM. Though I'm really surprised that with like 7 hours left to go in the day nobody had passed me in Yellow or Blue, which wasn't hard at all to do.

Nice to see someone different for once holding the rainbow. I forgot to say this in with youshi when he held the rainbow. So its the 10th day of the tdv how time flies so fast when you are doing things.

zanderlex jumps from 9th to 2nd in 2 days.

Anytime you can jump from 9th to 2nd in 2 days in the middle of the TDV, one of two things is true.

1. It's a super competitive TDV, with leads changing back and forth.
2. It's one of the least competitive TDVs of all time, allowing anyone to win if they put in 3 days of solid work.

This is the latter.

legacyme3 : This is totally quite a dead TdV, even more so than in 2016. Less than 2k words for Yellow, 50 actions for top 3 in Green and 65 CP for top 4 in Red is very low.

On top of these daily results, which won't be repeated today, the leader is still at 61 points. Normally, we used to have a leader near 100 points or sometimes even beyond such mark by the time 1/3 of the competition went by. This comes to say how people aren't being consistent on their scores, prompting anyone trying just a bit to climb the ranks.

Keeping up with the lack of consistency, just check the jerseys. No jersey leader is beyond 30 points, and Red even has a leader with less than 20. A user could be leading a jersey by averaging 2-3 points a day, which says an awful lot about scoring inconsistently.

But well, we still have the good sign that the top 10 are separated by a mere 40 points. This makes the top 10 very open, and I would even say affordable to anyone. So yeah, we might not have staggering results, but we will see changes in the standings everyday and hopefully a battle for rainbow, which kind of compensates in a sense.

legacyme3 : Are you sure it isn't the other way around? There's 9 users on pace to score 100 points. In all of 2016, the most 100 point users in a month was 7 in January, no others with more than 5, and if I take the lead, it would be 4 different leaders in a week.

It's sad that the TdV has become a lot less competitive since 2015 but the TdV shouldn't just be about competition. It should be about the fun and interaction that users have from it. I used to be overly competitive with this and unfortunately that spirit has died down since 2014.

However, I still want to use the TdV as a motivation to post/contribute more and interact with the vizzed community. Isn't that what it's really about? As long as the competition is fair and fun, that's what matters in my opinion

I had an "ice day" today (school got cancelled due to ice) but I chose not to compete, I have to go to bed earlier than the weekend and after how ridiculously long it took me to get my username to lean forward last time I didn't want to risk it XD

I may do some stuff this morning and then head to sleep since it seems that my parents have gotten quieter. We'll just have to see how things go.

I'm also pretty unimpressed with how this TDV has been going. So I thought why not compete today, why not spice things up a tad? So look out everyone because Deg is going to try and make you run for your jerseys! 

legacyme3 : With all due respect, why do you always talk negative about the site? That's the same comment you've made for the past two (possibly three) TdVs — "This is the slowest one ever". True site activity has dropped sharply, but we're all painfully aware of that. Why dwell on it? Talking about the deadness doesn't make it livelier. Look at the bright side at least: the activity we do have has increased in quality. There's less spamming, less flaming, and a less hostile community than there was five years ago. I know we romanticize the old community, but when I was new there was two sides to the community, and each side disliked the other. Cross one and you felt the backlash. That's no longer here like it was.

There's no need to be blind to the truth, but there's also no need to be so focused on the negative that we miss the good that we DO have: a great community. Best on the web, honestly.

deggle :  You should remember things do change deg it won't always stay the same forever. The TDV you see is how it will be depending on how the actively picks up. If there are people who can compete or post for fun when they are free, then they should do so to at east help a little.

Decided that if I wanted to win a TdV, now's my chance. But still, if I can't win this one then I'll have to try again next time.

Lexatom : Might as well go all the way with winning this one since it would be your first one. Don't put it off your in the lead so....it wouldn't make sense if you stop it right now.

How the hell did I amass nearly 900 words yesterday? It's out of my understanding, really.

I must admit I'm surprised at the overall jerseys. The top 4 in Red are separated by a single point and in Blue by 5. If that's not a close competition, then I don't know what can be.

Still a lot to be decided in this TdV, this looks promising!

I don't consider it being negative. I'm just stating what I perceive to be facts, each TDV recently seems slower than the last. I meant it three TDVs ago, and I mean it now.

And it's hard not to observe it, when someone who was completely "out" of the top 10, skyrocketed into the 2nd place spot in three days.

There aren't too many observations I could make about this happening, without being blind to something. It would normally be impossible, 10 days into a month, for a user to go from being outside the top 10 to being 2nd in the overall standings, at least with my experience in the TDV (I've been around for each one). The only reason it's possible now is because of the complete death in activity.

In the past 7 days, only three users have posted more than 100 times. Only 9 have posted more than 50 times. This is completely unexpected, and below what I'd consider "active" in terms of the beginning stages of the TDV (the last 7 days covers days 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, and parts of days 4 and 11.

This is also, I believe, could be the first time in a lonnng time (Spring 2015) in which a member placing in the White Banner also could be in the top 10. Nothing against newbies (I think they are great), but in this era of lighter posting, newbies should be placing in the top 10.

Contrary to what you might think the content of my post was, I enjoy the TDV far more now than I did 2-3 years ago. A lot of this is the way the Team Competitions have changed. Alongside my two friends, we're able to compete in a way that is meaningful to us. Additionally, I like that there's less spam, I still have complaints about the quality of some posts, but there's nothing I can do about that, and I've made my complaints to the locals+ (who I've chosen to talk to about this more personally) very clear.

TL;DR, since that's how so many people roll, and they just want a summary rather than to read a mile long script, I'm perfectly content with the TDV as it is. It's just a very dead one, factually, and that's not be being negative or cynical, it's me observing, because that's what I've always done, throughout my six+ year tenure, observe.

legacyme3 : Perhaps I communicated my point poorly. What I'm getting at is why dwell on it so much? We all see the problem, but standing around speculating on it seems futile. Kind of like looking at someone who's sick and reminding them everyday "Hey, you're sick". I don't mean to be disrespectful or rude, and I apologize if I seem so, but being observant is good if, and only if, it is to do something about the problem. Otherwise it's merely pessimism.

Doubtless we've lost a great deal activity. It's like I said before — and this was my point in a nutshell — we all see it and know it. There's no need to dwell on it and point it out frequently.

That's just my opinion. I realize I'm just as prone to being wrong as you, so I won't pretend it's impossible or even improbable that I'm wrong here. I just hear "The site's dead!" and claims that there's no hope of the forums ever picking up or doing more than they currently are so much that I had to say something.

Yeah, I've pretty much dropped out at this point. Between school, friends, and other stuff, I don't know that I'll still be as active on Vizzed as I used to be. You'll still see me around, but not as much when I'm in class.

So Zander passed me for the lead. I suspected this was going to happen, since I have school. I'm not giving up though, far from that. Right now it's my #1 goal to keep Zander from winning, haha.
