So essentially I have a couple of ideas at the moment for threads and maybe even the organisation of threads.

1) I plan to hopefully make some sort of time line/list of Local and global moderators, With small information like how long their tenure in that position was etc.

2) As for people that want to make personal threads towards a specific user I have 1 or 2 ideas.

2a) Do it similarly to how report threads work. The thread will be titled the name of the user and people can contribute by simply posting their experiences with said user.

2b) Let users create their threads at will, This way the thread feels more personal.

3) A hall of fame or something along those lines would be cool, But I can't really warrant an idea that I think is fair around it. Because it'd essentially be a popularity vote. If it does happen it'd be a yearly thing where about 10 users get inducted a year.... I would hope it'd work something like this

3a) Thread is made where people can nominate users who they believe deserve a spot, This could be done via PM or thread.
3b) A shortlist is made out of members, It could be like the yearly vizzed awards with categories.. Or there could be none...
3c) People vote on who they think deserves a position,
etc

If you have anything to ask or suggest feel free.. None of this is set in stone.

The way a reap hall of fame works is that there's a committee, so maybe you could have a group of like 5-7 users debate among all the users who were nominated and pick like like 1-3 each time that there's a selection.

I think that 2b is a better option. After all, when remembering past users, it's very easy to get emotional about personal experiences, so it's better if threads don't have a set structure.

About the hall of fame, I support zander's idea of creating a "committee". If this forum had more mods than just you, then it could be the forum mods deciding who is abducted between all the nominations from the whole userbase. Then again, this doesn't guarantee that the users won't be picked by personal likeness, but at least feels more official than any other way.

And well, I think that, beyond structure, it should also be noted which users are "qualified" for this forum. The people who contributed to the site it's perfectly clear we're paying homage to their dedication, even if they are still active (not only the gone users deserve to be here, you know), but would inactive users that didn't contribute that much but instead had an impact in the community be "qualified" as well? Because then we would need to determine whether or not they deserve a thread here, or probably set rules for the period of inactivity needed in order to "qualify".

zanderlex :
EX Palen : I was already kinda planning on using a committee, it would be between the users sending votes in and the shortlist.... I should have probably had included that sorry.

Yes 2b can be more personal... But i feel it's also a layout that would be more prone to people posting for the sake of posting... We could quite easily use both posting formats really as well... as long as people made sure to clarify which type it was... Which would be simple to do really.

As for your second question... That is not something that has a answer so to speak. I cannot value the importance of a user to another user... HOWEVER... I do not want this place to become where people just write about their active best friend. If anything though it would be cool if people focused more on what an actual user did here, than their friendship with said user.

Also it is not my place to deem who qualifies to be recognised.. because in truth everyone does. For good or for bad..  I don't want to be overly controlling on who people can and cannot make a thread about... I would rather just let users write about someone who clearly had an impact on them in a positive way... However if this is to simply be abused then i will definitely come up with a rule set.

I think that 2b is the best way to go about how threads are posted. There are definitely going to be members remembered by some and not others that are worth a thread. I can easily say that there are members I can't name that made an impact, and I know Vizzed before and during my era inside and out. There's also personalities and actions with other users that can only be put into words by people that are still around that are passionate enough to make a thread about that user.

I think that with the Hall of Fame idea, an idea I thought of would be to have one post in a nomination thread nominating a user, and once that post gets a certain amount of likes, that user gets into the hall of fame. It saves on unnecessary posts and can be an easy way to tally the votes.

Other ideas would be threads about events that made an impact on us or threads about groups of users that made their mark together. A forum full of names would need some sort of variety like that.

Love this concept overall, I can't wait to start contributing.

alexanyways : I agree with everything except the Hall of fame idea... I don't wan't it to become another version of the trust point façade...  It's very easy to get people like posts after all... but besides that i can't wait either... Although i am exceptionally busy at the moment
