So, I grew up as a kid not eating rice basically at all. There were 1 or 2 times a year when my mom would cook something that would have rice included in the meal. We were a meat and potatoes kind of family. She grew up on a farm so rice wasn't even really something they cooked.

Since marrying a Korean I've started to absolutely love rice. Just about any meal I can now include rice with it and it doesn't seem that strange.

Just curious what other people feel about rice. I never thought I would go from not liking rice to loving it.

Also, I'm bored and am looking for something to post about

Heck yeah, I love rice. It goes great with a lot of foods. Fried rice goes great with Chinese Food, rice is a great side to have with steak, and even my favorite Zatarain's Jambalaya Mix from the grocery store comes with rice. I could go and name everything I eat rice with, but that would take too long. My point is, I love it.

Is it even possible to dislike rice? It seems like saying that you dislike bread.

I love rice, especially just plain white rice. Or years I would always get a bowl of white rice and either put in spy sauce, hot sauce, or duck sauce and it would always taste amazing. Just recently I discovered a new kind of rice when my order was mistaken at school, it's a bowl or white rice with some wonton soup broth. The rice absorbs the broth and makes it so rich and creamy and it's just amazing, especially with some sauce. Other than that, almost all other kinds of rice are great as well.

I'm a huge rice fan. I love it just about any way you fix it, but really I think good ol' plain rice with soy sauce is my favorite. Fried rice would be next, then sweet and sour rice, then maybe Spanish rice. But still, nothing tops plain white or brown rice with some soy.

Now I want some. Why did I have to read this at three AM?

I love rice nearly as much as I love pasta. After all, our Paella is absolutely amazing, and since in our family we tend to make one when we have a populated reunion, it's impossible not to love it. I do hate how people mistakes the traditional ingredients with crappy excuses, though, the original will always be the best.

My mom has a lot of recipes with rice. Her preferred, probably because it's the easiest to do, is fried rice and a fried egg on top. Two delicious meals in one to make an awesome combination.

I like rice but not as much as pasta. I eat rice with certain food like Chinese for an example and have it with other food as well like curry and rice. I don't tend to eat a lot of rice most of the time but sometimes I do. ^-^

I would be a lying liar if I say I dislike rice, since I love sushis. And obviously, we use rice for sushis so that makes sense to say I really like rice in general.

geeogree : Growing up in the Hispanic Culture, I definitely had rice at least  6 days a week- seriously!
Have rice almost on a daily basis well into I moved on my own at 21 so I've changed my diet to just about anything and everything pushing my fast metabolism so that did not work out well as it caused health issues but, now I am back at a balanced diet actually and I consume it about 4-5 days a week now. I love it; rice and beans cooked together or separate, jambalaya rice, rice with corn, rice and corn beef, rice and vienna sausages, rice and green peas, rice with soup, just about all kinds of combinations. I like it!

I love rice! I normally have just white rice with milk and brown sugar, or with butter and cinnamon sugar. Although for cooking, I tend to use jasmine rice in recipes. Although that is amazing by itself with some butter. I also LOVE Spanish rice, and red beans and rice.

I really should try rice with soy sauce, huh? That seems to be the hip thing in this thread

jlove92 : see, I could understand loving rice because of that. It took my wife several years to convert me to loving rice when we were first married but now I like it so much I'll cook it for myself.

Vincent1875 : I didn't grow up on rice though. I had pasta, bread, noodles or something else but very rarely rice so I wasn't much of a fan.

Sonicoldstead: yeah, that's how it was in my family so it rubbed off on me for a long time. I'm glad it has changed though because rice is delicious. I suspect you're not buying the right rice if it doesn't taste good. There are multiple kinds and if you're getting yours from a box in a grocery store rather than from a large bag then you're probably getting cheap stuff.

Well, my mother is Korean, so I've eaten quite a bit of rice. I honestly do love plain white sticky rice. It's the best. I almost always have some rice ready, for whatever I feel like eating. I don't like eating rice just by itself though, I have to add something. Kimchi and rice, chicken and rice, beef and rice, and even hot dogs and rice. I do also love spicy Spanish rice.

Oh, and try some gimbap, it's good stuff. My mom sometimes makes it with bulgogi inside, it's the best.

Being half arab I pretty much have too, innit. While potatoes are more frequent in dutch food, I actually eat more Arab food than I do dutch for the most part which meant I eat a LOT of rice, and I can't imagine finding rice disgusting because tbh without anything to go with it, it is one of the most tasteless foods in the world, so yeah.

Really? Again? : so, are you full Korean or half? My wife is half Korean which is why I'm curious.

I've never had gimbap with bulgogi inside. I've had either one on their own but not together. I might have to request that next time my mother-in-law is in town.

Sonicolmstead : muscle memory olm isn't something I would type very often. That's pretty funny. I find liking rice starts with putting something good on the rice and mixing it all together.

geeogree : Half Korean. And put that bulgogi in that gimbap, it's so good. Well, bulgogi in anything is good, even on bulgogi. I even had a bulgogi sandwich before, it was really good. Oh, wait, there is one time I put bulgogi on pizza, that was not good. But yeah, bulgogi and rice is one of my most favorite things to eat. I've even made bulgogi jerky, which came out fantastic.

Oh, I love rice so much! Being half Asian (Dad's the full Asian) nearly 96% of our food comes with rice! Sometimes, when eating Maruchan, I microwave some rice and dump it into my soup. If done with Creamy Chicken Maruchan, this tastes so good.
