I like this new vizzed theme, it reminds me of my childhood oh well, nice work in your new prank( I think this one is better ). It amazes me how this site works and change. It is new to my eyes and I wish I can go back to the past to see the old vizzed theme again.

I had to use my night mode in the browser just to see better because my eyes hurt in color gray . Though everyone seems to like this theme. Hope it will return to normal soon

This really was a good joke though. Basically a history lesson for me, since we didn't get our first computer until 2003. Would've been hilarious if you'd replaced flash chat with IRC. I don't even know how to use IRC. Lol

I see that images are limited to 16 or 256 colors... Nostalgic feel... (even mobile version uses this)
What's even more nostalgic is using monospace font and yellow on black theme.

m0ssb3rg935 : Yeah this is a great way for users to get a peak of what the internet kinda use to look like. To be honest, I do sometimes miss those days because there really isn't any way to relive those days. With retro gaming, you can still continue playing those retro games in 1 way or another. With old movies and TV shows, there's always a way to watch them again. With the internet though, there really isn't any way to browse the web exactly as it was many years ago (although you sorta can with the Internet Archive: Wayback Machine but that only covers so much and isn't a seamless experience).


Yuna1000 : I probably invested 6 hours into this. I'll quickly break down how I went about this.

You probably know all of this but this was all of the stuff I kept in mind when putting it together. Lots of sites back then either had overwhelming background images or a gray background image. Sites usually spammed the heck of out animated gifs. Thick borders were pretty common on sites back then. Due to everyone's internet being really slow back then, lots of images were highly compressed. It was common to see websites have midi songs play when you visited the page (I couldn't get a midi file to load though but found an MP3 that sounded like a midi instead and chose not to make it autoplay). People often used MS Paint to do their graphic work (which would be fine if they didn't choose to only invest a few minutes on the image). Marquees were used a lot and I'm kinda surprised that browsers still support it.

I ran a few programs which helped me batch compress all of the user pictures and various other pictures. I think it was well over 100,000 pictures that ended up getting compressed. Then I used .htaccess to make the site point to the pictures in the new april fools directories (rather than having to manually change it throughout the site).

I searched the internet for old 90s gifs and I used any that I saw that looked familiar. Being someone who used the internet back the, I had a good idea of how to make the site look. I also tried finding images of old looking websites to help give me ideas.

Of course I also did a lot of coding to pull this off.

Barathemos : It's possible that images were caching for you resulting into you not seeing its full potential.

Hm, it's a bit of an eyesore on certain layouts but this weird blue on the 4th page is interesting. 

The change was obviously interesting but I actually like the blue better than the grey lol. Perhaps you can't keep that whole layout of the site the same, but I would recommend keeping a song of the day/week or something on the front page like that; I really enjoyed that part.

When I logged in last night, I almost forgot it was April Fools day. This was awesome and probably one of my more favorite April Fools jokes that you've done. Great job David!

Lol I didn't even realize it was April Fools Yesterday and you really got me at first until I found out it was April Fools! That's just how busy I am!
