This is why Nintendo can sometimes tick me off to the point of contacting the company themselves and spamming them with questions of why they do stuff like this. Sometimes I just want to barge into Nintendo's office and tell them to get their act straight. This is just too horrible to understand...

This is so sad! Why Nintendo, why??

I seriously think it's time for Nintendo to move on from their old game series. It's pretty much pointless to keep all the old game series like Mario and Zelda alive anymore. It seems like they can't come up with new ideas anymore and they just keep re-releasing the old games over and over again for the newer consoles. For example, none of the newer Zelda games has been as good as the older ones in my opinion. The way things are headed at the moment all the old classics will be forgotten and replaced by new and crappy games. 

Move on Nintendo! The past is the past, why not try to figure out something new?

KPE : maybe now that we know this we can come up with like a trade type thing, maybe some people have some of the Roms and can share them with others. its probably not that good of an idea but it seems like a good one right now.

This is certainly a blow. Especially considering that I just donated to keep the site going. What really galls me is that we are talking about games, which for the most part are 30+ years old. I mean if we were talking about a Wii U game on the site, hacked and emulated I feel that would be a different issue. But, almost all of these games have been out of production for years, even decades. These games have long been past the point of monetization for Nintendo. This reeks of greed and possibly spite. Nintendo has been running over streamers and sites like this for a while now. If only we could convince them that this is going to damage their brand for more money in the long term. Than any earnings potential they may have lost to sites like this one. I haven't purchased a Nintendo product in three years. I am pretty sure I will never buy another ever again.

Welp, there go pretty much all the games I've ever gotten on here... I can imagine Nintendo just being like, "Huehuehue, you can't play anything unless you buy the console(s) for yourself even though we don't make them anymore!"

I am not fan of pokemon, zelda series or metroid series but yes I like mario games ( I have download on my phone mario nes,snes,Nds) but I am sad why nintendo remove donkey kong country series (and of course for all members that are fan of these games)......I am on vizzed and always I will be here becuase here are many many games that I like (I finished all nes games here 742 and now I will finish all snes games after all sega,tg16 and all Mames games).Vizzed with or not pokemon,zelda or mario will be the nr 1.

I had hoped that Vizzed would be unaffected by Nintendo's actions, but first with sites like Coolrom and game-oldies getting some roms removed, and this year romhustler also had to take down a lot of Nintendo roms (although they, just like game-oldies, still have some of the less popular games like Shrek 2 and stuff like that), it's really sad to see this happen.

But it's strange that this has only happened to some sites, not all of them. PlayR, a game where you can play gb(c) games online for example, and emuparadise, a site with roms, don't seem to have this problem. I really wonder why that's the case. Also, not all of these games were that well known, but sites like Vizzed keep these games intact for people who want to know more. If I hadn't played Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga here, I doubt if I would have played the other games in the series for example. 

I hope this won't affect the site too much, or that a solution can be found if necessary.

    Well this sucks.  I'm not surprised by the removal of the official nintendo games, that's something I always thought would happen some day.  The hacks are another thing entirely though; in fact, I'm not sure they even have a right to remove them.  If I could donate right now I would but I'm pretty hard up for cash myself right now.  I would say that I'm going to boycott nintendo over this but I haven't bought anything nintendo related since the gameboy advance so I've technically been boycotting them for years now.

   The bright side here is that there are still quite a few great games available on the site, even ones on nintendo consoles.  I mostly come here for mame, dreamcast, and playstation these days.  Of course I am still mad that I'm losing my progress in mario and luigi superstar saga and warioware inc, but I'll make do.  I just hope that this doesn't spell the beginning of the end for Vizzed.

You have a good point there,  Nintendo could've been a lot worse but thankfully they're being somewhat reasonable in this regard.








My Issue is the fact that Nintendo thinks this will actually enforce people to Pay for their old games, when in-fact People aren't that stupid and will look for alternatives to keep playing this stuff for free.


Like I've said, there's thousands of Other sites that Host's Nintendo Roms including every single one of them that David removed here.

All People would have to do is Download an Emulator and get the game boom, issue resolved.

Nintendo would have to find every site that host's Nintendo roms with their main franchise players and force them to take it off their site, if they really wanna be effective with this plan to Make people buy their old games on WII U and 3DS.

If they aren't gonna remove their Properties from those sites(Like Emulator Paradise) Then people are still gonna have access to these"Classics" for free.

Blazer 31 : There's nothing legal about abandonware. Copyright law covers intellectual property for the life of the author plus 75 years. AFAIK, Nintendo is well within their rights to remove games which they hold the copyright for. The only reason that so many companies tolerate abandonware distribution is because those games are no longer sold and they have no real motivation to enter a legal battle for something they stand to make no profit off of. Unlike, say, Bungie's Marathon series, Nintendo has been porting their old games to virtual console, so ROMs could potentially hurt their sales. It absolutely sucks, but this has been a long time coming. I don't think that Vizzed has any legal recourse.

Yeah, except those cash cows have died of old age. AKA everyone is getting bored of them because they're stagnating from unoriginality and abandoning them. Most people are now favoring Indies or moving on to other franchises, leaving Nintendo to gradually become obsolete. Which is why Nintendo is panicking and throwing their weight around threatening anyone they think is a competitor, like a mindless, insecure jock.

Funny thing is that Square Enix is facing a similar stagnation problem, but instead of acting like a complete screaming imbecile towards their fans, they tried to catch up by expanding to PC gaming, which is actually a smart move... Even if they're currently bad at porting.

DrRM : Yeah, I didn't really think of that idea till earlier today, and it seems to be working for me too. The only problem with it is that if you don't have the URL address, you can't play the game. You can only play games you've already played before, but this may be a great alternative to keep users playing the games and from leaving the site. I guess people could share the links with each other. There may also still be other ways too, but I'm not familiar with setting up emulators or anything like that. There are still Sega and other games that haven't been took down and hopefully will stay up. I hope David can find a way to deal with this. It looked like the site was starting to bounce back before this happened. I don't think Nintendo realizes or even cares what this will do to the website. Vizzed isn't just a place to go to for the games, but it is also a place where people can discuss other topics as well. Hopefully, the site can survive for the sake of the forums at least.
