Hey everyone. So recently I've been trying to improve at a lot of things, but it would seem like the matter how hard I try, I always remain in the same spot. It's a really despairing feeling. I'm really considering throwing in the towel, but oddly enough, I feel there is this part of me that wants to keep trying. What do y'all think I should do?

I've been through many tough things in my life, but there is one thing I've never done. I've never given up. At some points I thought I gave up and that's where my life really turned to ****. Somehow I managed to get past the feeling of giving up and I started fighting again. And it was the only thing that didn't make things worse. So you should never, ever give up because things wont get easier.

You should never give up no matter what.

Everyone has failed at something at any given point, but we all keep fighting to improve. It can take weeks, months or years to finally win the war, no matter how many battles you lost before.

Trust me, it's better to keep failing than not trying. And of course, the more you fail and the more mistakes you make, the more you learn from them. That's the key to success.

Let me quote Samuel Beckett: "Ever tried, ever failed. No matter, try again. Fail again. Fail better." Basically, it means you must always try and fail better every time. What exactly is failing better? Failing at failing. In less poetic words, success.

I voted keep trying, but what is it exactly that you are trying to do?

Many people find it easy to give up, but you definitely shouldn't. Every time I've given up I've regretted it, but every time I pushed myself to keep going no matter how I felt, I felt great afterwards and knew that it was the right decision to make.

Also, problems are temporary. Those problems will go away and you can live a more joyful life, especially if you handle them well and don't fear them.

Final Weapon : In seriousness...happiness is the very purpose of our existence.  Moments like what you're experiencing come to quite a lot of people.  It's often part of life.  But incorporating what we learn from these times will lead to lasting happiness, even if we aren't the happiest person in the whole wide world right now.

Thanks everyone. This really has me motivated to keep giving it my all. Even if the odds are against me. I guess you can say I was trying to be a better individual. Both on vizzed and in real life. I think I've learned something from y'all today: Only those who have experienced failure can come back stronger than ever. *Throws the super soft pillow at supernerd* And jygin, sorry about not coming to you with this before hand. Didn't want to bother you at the time.

Glad to see you're feeling better now, but just to emphasize what the others have said, never give up. The harder the struggle, the bigger the reward when you accomplish your goal. And anything worth doing is going to be difficult, so take heart in that knowledge and keep pressing on.

You only fail if you give up, even if your not good at something practice makes perfect. I recommend you keep trying because if you try hard enough, you will get better and better until your very good at it. For example I'm very good at Metroid Zero Mission, I'm able to do speedruns almost meeting that of the professional speed runners of the game at 50 minutes at least. The reason I can go fast like that is that I tried over and over, beating the game faster and faster until eventually I was very good at speedrunning it. I sucked at it at first since I never done it before and originally just played it for a good time, but I kept trying and I eventually got to where I am today. So don't give up because you'll miss 100% of the shots you don't take.

Everyone I have been doing a lot thinking last night, and I've decided to just give up. Now I may not be the smartest of people around here, but at least I know my limitations as a individual. I no longer have the will to continue any further nor do I want to. Sorry guys. This is just...my choice.
