two heads are better than one when it comes to problem solving...sometimes... like with a direct question in a quiz for example....

This was one of those cases where it would have been better to be more subtle about it. Just casually posting and chatting with others and then pointing out any evidence you had... Keep in mind the first set of questions hasn't even been put forward yet...You had plenty of time to simply take notes and come to a conclusion yourself before you even had to worry about being convicted... 

This is why i asked pacman if the quote was written by the murderer exactly... I felt that it was a good place to start.. Even if it inevitably proved nothing. 

Long story short...if your investigating a bunch of people to find out who it is.. don't tell them all your case notes... otherwise you have nothing to yourself for comparison..... 

There are 3 Core possibilites that the symbol represents

1) It's a trick by the murderer to somehow change emphasis onto someone else.
2) it was a mistake by the murderer 
3) the symbol was never a part of the inital message and was added to signify the end of a quote. 

1) Seems like it'd be a clever thing to do... but it seems strange to me that someone is already trying to place the blame on someone else even though there's actively no evidence pointing to anyone... meaning that if this was the case the murderer does not do this... 

2) It was a simple mistake that could have proven costly to the murderer in time. But as you pointed it out ASAP. if they wasn't aware of the mistake, they are now..... 

3) Proves nothing at all and is the least helpful... 

Now moving on.

A user of this has contacted me twice on steam in the last two days.... they rarely speak to me on steam and i find that suspicious... Almost as if they're checking to see if i'm willing to share ideas etc... This can work both ways however

1) they're talking to me to see if i suspect them of being the killer
2) they're talking to me as they think im the killer
3) they're bored etc...

I did use the ~ symbol casually and they responded with it... That itself really means nothing though.. they could have noticed the symbol and simply replicated it.. They could be in the same boat and were trying to do the same to me. they could also be the murderer lol.... i'll never know now..

Finally my final thought is this.

I believe that it is supernerd117. It seems weird that you'd mention the symbol when you are indeed usually a clever logical person when it comes to games like this. You probably got frustrated that no one had pointed it out yet.. and thus decided to do so yourself.. You have also pinpointed the "younger" users which removes suspicions from you and onto other users as well. 

Of course that is all just mindless logic at this point in time.,

Honestly.. if i get killed i'll be happy.. I spend way too much time using pointless logic on these games... 

I'm also taking this time to apologise for essentially taking this game far too seriously... 

Of course they kill one of the skilled players first.

No reason to suspect anyone because of a stupid symbol this early in the game.

FoS: Furret's profile.  If you check under achievements, the profile is loaded with "~" symbols.  Why is this important, you may ask?  Because this is not such a common thing.  It is more common for such things to be separated by "-" symbols instead.  Am I reaching?  Maybe.  But it's the best lead we have so far, and Furret is acting very defensive about it.

I've checked every other profile in this game, and Furret's is the only one that is filled with "~" symbols.

But seriously, I don't know if the ~ is very suspicious. Nothing about this really gave us any leads. I don't want to wait around for another death. But any accusations are just guesses at this point in time.

I get the feeling if we over analyze mvhupsel's death we'll end up getting far from the real answer. Lets stick to what little we know.

The murderer could have killed mvhupsel because he was associated with him like muffin said but the more likely scenario is he simply killed a random logical player.

As for the "~"; like I said it's a very small clue as of now. If we spend our time focusing on that we'll miss any other clue in our faces.

Oh please, why is the ~ even relevant? So what he wanted to use a bit more flair than -?

The "~" can just as well be a way to try and and trick people, I mean a smart murderer would probably try to act differently than they usually would so to not give away anything through their style of writing. And that could be a way to divert attention to other users...

Honestly I feel like it's probably just wiser to wait until the murderer has answered questions and we have something to actually go on instead of trying to grasp at straws this early.

Well, it's looking more and more like I'm dead already.  Well, if Furret turns out to be the murderer and you fail to get him, I'm going to kill you all.  Wait...maybe next time

EDIT: OK I won't give up until it's over.  Maybe these three questions will give me a shot at proving my innocence.

Okay... first off, the point of the game is to find the murderer with the use of answers to various questions. We haven't even started on voting for the questions, so why the attempt on trying to single out anyone or a group of people now? Yes, I understand how writing style MIGHT be a clue, but this is just after one message. And besides, if the murderer is smart they would have changed up their writing style anyways.

I think we should just stop trying to get on a lead on anyone this early. The answers to questions will give us better clues.

And tbh, the "~" is a pretty weak lead if you ask me. It's probably added for emphasis, nothing more.

As expected 3 questions that honestly will give us no real information

Question 1 is good if someone has seen them... but can lead to annoying.... Yes but not as frequently as before etc...

Question 2 is literally a yes/ no question

Question 3 could be anything... there's no way to really prove if someone is lying with this answer....


pacman1755 : Can i ask a question.... Say if the murderer lies and wins the game.. if we can prove they played unfairly i assume the win will be void?

sonicmcmuffin : If the murderer does cheat, like you were accused of last game, the win will be voided and the game win will be given to the survivors and the murderer will most likely be banned from playing in the next Murder Mystery game.

I vote for question 1. It's sorta beneficial for my current hunch.
